- Freshservice support: "The occasional agent uses up a Day Pass for every day they log into the support portal. The pass is valid only for the day and expires at the end of the day (00:00 hrs), irrespective of the time when you first logged in for the day." Freshdesk support: occasional agents "consume a Day Pass when they log in."
- Counting rules
- One Day Pass per occasional agent per calendar day of agent-portal access; unused time does not carry over. Freshservice: end of day is based on the occasional agent's time zone, and use of an occasional agent's API key in workflows, integrations or custom apps also consumes a pass. Freshdesk: end of day is the helpdesk time zone on Growth and the agent's time zone on Pro; replying to notifications by email does not consume a pass. Passes are bought in bulk under Admin > Day Passes.

- Freshservice and Freshservice for MSPs give 3 free Day Passes at sign-up; every Freshdesk plan comes with 3 free day passes. Occasional agents are unlimited in number and are not charged monthly. Freshservice Business agents cannot be occasional agents.
