The TeamViewer End User License Agreement (EULA) is the standard contract for all TeamViewer products. It calls itself “a modular contract” with five parts: Master Terms (A), which always apply; Software Specific Terms (B), for commercial and non-commercial use of software and cloud services; Hardware Specific Terms (C); Professional Services Specific Terms (D); and Jurisdiction Specific Terms (E). Part E has one set of terms for the Americas and another for the rest of the world.[1] The version retrieved on 2026-09-26 is dated 27 July 2026. The EULA does not state licence quantities. It incorporates the Product Specification for each product, which sets the licensed users, channels and devices.[1] For how those quantities are counted, see TeamViewer licensing.
Editions
The EULA recognizes two licence types. A Subscription is a temporary licence, based on a term or subscription, against recurring payments. A Free License is a limited licence granted free of charge for selected products. It covers the Free Version, test versions, Trial Licenses and Beta Versions.[1] Subscriptions are available only to businesses, meaning persons acting in the exercise of a trade, business or profession. They are not provided to consumers.[1] TeamViewer no longer sells perpetual licences, but existing perpetual licences remain valid for the version for which they were bought.[3] Catalog proof: Subscription licenses are sold only to businesses (backs Subscription licenses are sold only to businesses); Perpetual licences are no longer sold but stay valid for their version (backs Perpetual licences are no longer sold but stay valid for their version).
Contracting entity (page undated). For web-shop orders, “TeamViewer” means TeamViewer Germany GmbH, or TeamViewer US, Inc. for customers resident in the United States. For binding quotes and other contract documents, it is the entity named on the document: TeamViewer Germany GmbH, 1E Limited, TeamViewer UK Ltd. or TeamViewer US, Inc. Free instances are contracted with TeamViewer Germany GmbH.[2]
Metrics
The EULA names the kinds of licensed item without defining them in detail: licensed users, concurrent connections (channels) and managed devices. The Product Specification defines them.[1] The catalog records them as Named User License (Licensed User), Channel (concurrent connection) and Managed Device. It adds the licence models the Product Specifications define: device-based, endpoint-based, credit-based and capacity-based.[5]
Counting / floors
Formation and resellers (effective 2026-07-27). A contract is formed in one of four ways: by an order in the web shop or an in-product purchase flow that TeamViewer accepts; by accepting a binding quote within its stated period, or within 21 days if none is stated; by an order document; or, for free instances, by downloading the software. If a licence is bought from an authorized Reseller, the EULA still applies between customer and TeamViewer, except for payment terms. Terms agreed with the Reseller do not bind TeamViewer.[1] Catalog proof: Reseller purchases remain under the TeamViewer EULA (backs Reseller purchases remain under the TeamViewer EULA).
Scope of licence (effective 2026-07-27). The licence is non-exclusive, worldwide (subject to export controls), non-transferable and not sub-licensable. It is limited to installing and using the software on the customer’s own devices, or devices in its immediate possession, for its own business activities.[1] Only Authorized Users may use it. For a legal entity, these are current employees, agents, representatives or temporary workers, and only in support of the customer’s own business.[1] Catalog proof: Licence limited to own devices and own business activities (backs Licence limited to own devices and own business activities); Named User License: no group or shared logins (backs Named User License: no group or shared logins).
Prohibited use (effective 2026-07-27). Customers may not circumvent the technical devices that enforce the EULA. They may not reverse engineer the software, or use it in a computer service business, service bureau, or rental or commercial timesharing arrangement. They may not sell, rent, lease or distribute it, or provide access to the Services to third parties.[1] Catalog proof: No service bureau, rental, timesharing or resale use (backs No service bureau, rental, timesharing or resale use).
Add-ons (effective 2026-07-27). Additional licensed items or features are bought as Add-Ons. Unless the Contract says otherwise, they are added and co-termed to the existing subscription.[1] Catalog proof: Add-ons are co-termed with the base subscription (backs Add-ons are co-termed with the base subscription).
Usage-based License Adjustment (effective 2026-07-27). Customers must use the Services strictly within the licensed scope. They must monitor and prevent unlicensed or improperly licensed use across their organization and network. For excess use, TeamViewer may charge additional fees, including for prior periods. The fees are at its then-current list price or, at its election, pro rata to the contract price.[1] The clause has no look-back limit and no discount protection. This is an interpretation, not a vendor statement. It makes the list price the reference for any true-up. Catalog proof: Excess usage is charged retroactively at list price (backs Excess usage is charged retroactively at list price).
Audit rights
Usage analyses, audit and self-declaration (effective 2026-07-27). TeamViewer may analyse use for security, product improvement, licence auditing and marketing purposes. At its sole discretion, it may use technical measures to check whether use matches the chosen licence type and the agreed scope. It “may require Customer, at any time, to provide a self-declaration” of its actual scope of use.[1] This differs from the notice-based on-site audit clauses of many enterprise vendors. See software license audit. Catalog proof: Technical usage monitoring and self-declaration on request (backs Technical usage monitoring and self-declaration on request).
Customer Hosting (effective 2026-07-27). Where server-side software is hosted by the customer, TeamViewer may audit every six months over a secure remote connection. It may also audit once a year at the customer’s premises, with at least five business days’ notice, during normal business hours. It may use a third party bound by confidentiality. Customers must keep the hosting infrastructure up to date, and TeamViewer may block connections if security is compromised.[1] Catalog proof: Customer Hosting: remote audit every six months and annual on-site audit (backs Customer Hosting: remote audit every six months and annual on-site audit).
Term, renewal and termination
Term (effective 2026-07-27). Unless the Contract says otherwise, the initial term is 12 months. It renews automatically for 12-month terms unless either party gives notice at least 28 calendar days before the term ends. Ordinary termination is excluded during the term.[1] Notice may be given through a support request, the customer portal, orally with confirmation in text form, or by signed letter.[1] The Knowledge Base says all packages are billed and renewed annually, and monthly payment is not available. Renewal quotes can be requested within the three months before renewal.[3] Catalog proof: 12-month term, automatic renewal, 28 days’ notice (backs 12-month term, automatic renewal, 28 days’ notice); 12-month term, automatic renewal, 28 days’ notice (All about subscription: cancellation) (same rule).
Price increases and EULA changes (effective 2026-07-27). TeamViewer may notify a price increase at least 28 days before the term ends. If the customer does not object within 14 days, it applies from renewal. An objection ends the contract at the end of the term. Australian customers receive at least 75 days’ notice and two renewal reminders.[1] TeamViewer may amend the EULA on at least 28 days’ notice. If the customer objects in writing within 15 days, the contract continues on the existing terms.[1] Catalog proof: Price increase at renewal with 28 days’ notice and 14-day objection (backs Price increase at renewal with 28 days’ notice and 14-day objection); EULA amendments with 28 days’ notice and 15-day objection (backs EULA amendments with 28 days’ notice and 15-day objection).
Test period (effective 2026-07-27; Knowledge Base as of 2026-07-24). If the Contract provides a test period, the customer may terminate within seven calendar days and receive a refund of prepaid, unused fees.[1] The Knowledge Base’s 7-day money-back guarantee excludes renewals and invoices issued after a one-month free trial.[3] Catalog proof: 7-day test period and money-back guarantee exclude renewals (backs 7-day test period and money-back guarantee exclude renewals).
Late payment and suspension (effective 2026-07-27). On payment default or material breach, TeamViewer may suspend the Services after warning the customer. During suspension, no connections can be made to or from the customer’s installations, and fees remain payable. TeamViewer may terminate if a payment default is not cured within 15 days of notice.[1] After several reminders, TeamViewer blocks unpaid licences. The block can also affect devices on which a user of the unpaid account recently connected.[4] Catalog proof: Non-payment suspends all connections while fees continue (backs Non-payment suspends all connections while fees continue).
After termination (effective 2026-07-27). The licence ends at once, and the customer must delete the software. The customer loses access to data in the software, the TeamViewer account and the Management Console, and must export anything it needs beforehand.[1] Catalog proof: On termination the Software must be deleted (backs On termination the Software must be deleted).
Virtualization & partitioning
The EULA sets no virtualization or partitioning rules. It does require customers to install every Release Version as soon as reasonably practicable and to keep their systems within the System Requirements. Holders of older perpetual licences need only install minor Release Versions of their main version.[1] Maintenance does not include adapting the software to new operating system versions.[1] See software maintenance and support for the general concept.
Cloud / BYOL
The Services depend on TeamViewer’s Server Services for connection handshake and routing. Customers must be logged in to a TeamViewer account to use them.[1] AI Services come under the EULA’s AI Specific Terms, third-party pass-through terms and an Acceptable Use Policy. Paid AI Services can be terminated by TeamViewer on 60 days’ notice with a pro rata refund.[1] AI credits are consumed under the AI Credit Consumption Policy, version as of 25 August 2026.[6] Contracts concluded on or after 12 September 2025 that fall under the EU Data Act are supplemented by an EU Data Act Addendum.[1]
Jurisdiction
Outside the Americas, German law applies and the exclusive venue is Stuttgart. For a slightly negligent breach of a material obligation, liability is capped at the higher of EUR 12,500 or 100% of the fees paid in the previous 12 months for the contract concerned.[1] In the Americas, New York law and New York County courts apply. The Americas terms add an indemnity from the customer, a U.S. Government restricted-rights clause and a clause on protected health information.[1]
Programs
- Subscription License, Free Version for non-commercial use, Trial License and Test Period and 7-day money-back guarantee, defined in EULA sec. B.1.1.[1]
- Add-On License, in sec. B.1.3. The Product Specification defines an Add-On in the same terms.[5]
- Customer Hosting and Purchase through an authorized Reseller, in secs. B.3.4 and A.1.[1]
- Legacy perpetual licenses.[3]
The Pricing FAQ confirms automatic renewal every 12 months, unless the contract is terminated by support ticket or in text form at least 28 days before the end of the term.[7]
Out of scope
- Hardware purchase and lease (Part C) and Professional Services (Part D) of the EULA.[1]
- The Data Processing Agreement and the privacy notices.
- Negotiated enterprise agreements, which may override the EULA defaults. The EULA makes most provisions subject to “unless otherwise specified in the Contract”.[1]
