- CPU options for Amazon EC2 instances: "Each thread is represented as a virtual CPU (vCPU) on the instance." License Manager lists vCPUs as one of the supported license types ("The metric used to count licenses").
- Counting rules
- Default vCPUs = cores x threads per core for the instance type (example in the EC2 guide: m5.xlarge has two cores and two threads per core, four vCPUs). License-included Windows Server and SQL Server instances launched with customized CPU options are charged on the configured vCPUs (Optimize CPUs). In License Manager, the vCPU Optimization rule counts the customized core and thread count when set to True; otherwise the default vCPUs for the instance type are counted. vCPU counting is allowed on shared tenancy, Dedicated Instances and Dedicated Hosts.
