- SQL Server licenses with active Software Assurance are eligible for License Mobility and can be deployed on default or dedicated tenancy EC2, after the customer completes Microsoft's License Mobility verification. Under License Mobility the number of licenses depends on instance type, SQL Server version and the Microsoft licensing model; AWS publishes vCPU (hardware thread) counts per instance type for virtual core calculations.
