Wrike AI is the set of generative and agent features inside Wrike. The Terms of Service define it as features “that utilize generative artificial intelligence trained by machine learning” to create new content from Customer Data, and define Wrike AI Output as the output generated from that input, which the Terms treat as Customer Data.[3] Wrike licenses AI through the plan, not through a separate seat. Usage is metered in “Wrike AI Actions”, and the meter has two tiers.[1]
Editions
“Wrike offers two tiers of AI features: AI Essentials and AI Elite.”[1]
| Tier | Features | Metering |
|---|---|---|
| AI Essentials | Content creation and editing, comment summary, natural language form and rule generation, AI highlights, Board AI, mobile inbox prioritisation | Metered, not charged; free and unlimited on paid plans, subject to fair usage |
| AI Elite | Wrike Copilot, widget generation, agents, Whiteboard assistant | Monthly allowance pooled at account level |
Free and Team accounts have no AI Elite allowance, and the plan list in the Help Center names Free, Team, Business, Pinnacle and Apex as the five current plans.[8] Business accounts get “A starter pack of AI Elite actions to experiment with AI agents”, according to the pricing page, which says Pinnacle has “3 times more AI Elite actions per month” and Apex “10 times more”.[2] The Team plan carries AI Essentials only.[7]
Metrics
AI Essentials action
“AI Essentials actions are included for free and unlimited* in all paid Subscription plans.” The asterisk states that they “are subject to fair usage restrictions under which Wrike may temporarily disable or degrade the performance of Wrike AI with respect to AI Essentials actions, with reasonable notice to Customer where practicable.”[1] The table in the article marks Free as available for AI Essentials as well. See AI Essentials is free and unlimited under fair usage and AI Essentials action.
AI Elite action
“A Wrike AI Action is any single, independent operation performed by Wrike AI.” Examples are generating a summary of comments, rewriting text, answering a question with Copilot and an AI agent action. AI Elite actions “are metered based on a monthly allowance pooled at the account level.”[1] The allowance is “a set number of actions per Full User license, per month, pooled for the whole account (e.g., 10 actions/Full User license/month on Pinnacle)”. The help article gives the following allowances for a typical account with 100 users:[1]
| Plan | AI Elite actions per month (pooled, 100 users) |
|---|---|
| Free | Not available |
| Team | Not available |
| Business | 300 |
| Enterprise (as named in the article) | 500 |
| Pinnacle | 1,000 |
| Apex | 10,000 |
The same figures imply 3, 5, 10 and 100 actions per Full User licence per month respectively, although only the Pinnacle per-user figure is stated outright. Usage numbers “refresh automatically on the first day of every month”.[1] See AI Elite allowance is per Full User licence per month, pooled.
Counting agent runs
An agent consumes one action for each operation it performs on each run. Wrike’s example is a project status reporter that fills two summary fields, posts a comment and updates a status: four actions per run, run for 10 projects each week, gives 4 x 10 x 4 weeks, or 160 actions a month. “Skipped and failed actions count toward the total”, because “the system counts the agent’s evaluation effort, not just successful outcomes.”[1] Agent actions include posting comments, changing custom fields, assignees, status and dates, creating items, starting approvals and notifying through email, Slack or Microsoft Teams.[6] See Skipped and failed agent actions count toward AI Elite usage.

The AI Elite Actions Pack
“AI Elite Actions Pack: An optional Add-On that provides a supplemental pool of 12,000 AI Elite Actions. Unlike the monthly allowance, these actions can be used at any time during your Subscription Term and do not expire until your renewal. You can purchase several units of Add-On packs.”[1] The pack is listed on the pricing page at custom pricing and is excluded from the add-ons bundled with Apex.[2] The help article marks the pack as “Available from April 1, 2026”. See The AI Elite Actions Pack adds 12,000 non-expiring actions and AI Elite Actions Pack.
Reaching the limit
Until March 31, 2026 accounts had unlimited free access to all AI features. “Starting April 1, 2026, our generous AI usage quotas will take effect, and paid packages for additional actions will be available. You will not be charged automatically - your account manager will contact you to discuss options.”[1] Account Admins and Owners are notified at 90% and at 100% of balance. If AI Elite actions are exhausted, “access to AI Elite features may be restricted until the start of the next monthly metering reset or the purchase of additional AI Elite Actions Packs.”[1] The pricing FAQ confirms no automatic invoice: when a customer exceeds the limit “a discussion is opened around usage and the best package to power them.”[2] See Exhausted AI Elite actions restrict access, not auto-billing.
Monitoring
Only account admins can see AI usage, under Account management. The usage page shows totals for AI Essentials and AI Elite, agents (executions and actions), users (Essentials and Elite actions) and features, and the data can be exported as CSV. The earliest available start date is July 1, 2026.[1]
Virtualization & partitioning
Not applicable. The pool is the Customer Account, and it is sized by Full User licences. Because the allowance is set per Full User licence, it follows from the article’s wording that Collaborators, Contributors and Viewers do not enlarge it.[1] Wrike AI uses Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service for some features, and the Terms say the service “will temporarily store all prompts and generated content to monitor for and prevent abusive or harmful uses or outputs”.[3]

Copilot and the AI Addendum
Wrike Copilot is available on Business, Pinnacle and Apex. “Wrike Copilot requires the AI Addendum to be signed, as it’s powered by Large Language Models, which require your acceptance of the Terms and Conditions.” If the Copilot button is missing, Generative AI must be enabled in settings.[4] The pricing FAQ says no extra payment is needed for Copilot and AI agents: “All plans starting from the Business tier include a number of AI Elite actions.”[2] See Wrike Copilot requires the AI Addendum.
MCP server
Wrike MCP lets AI assistants such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude and ChatGPT read and update Wrike data through OAuth 2.0, and the help article lists it as available on all plans. Wrike describes it as “architecturally equivalent to any other Wrike API integration” and says it needs neither a new DPA nor the AI Addendum, because “no AI models run on Wrike infrastructure”. A separate agreement with the customer’s AI provider may be needed.[5] Wrike MCP respects the user’s permissions, and its actions appear in the standard activity stream. The article states no rate limit or price. See MCP access is treated as an API integration, not Wrike AI.
Programs
- AI Elite allowance and Actions Pack: the monthly allowance and the optional supplemental pool.
- Wrike’s terms on improving AI: “Wrike does not use Customer Data or permit others to use Customer Data to train the machine learning methods and data models underlying Wrike AI,” while it may use usage data, metadata and feedback such as thumbs up or down.[3] See Wrike does not train its AI models on Customer Data.
Audits and compliance
Section 8.12 of the Terms gives Wrike discretion over AI limits: “Customer’s use of Wrike AI is subject to fair usage restrictions that Wrike may determine in its sole discretion”, and if Wrike decides usage exceeds fair usage it “may disable or degrade the performance of Wrike AI”.[3] The customer must not use Wrike AI in a way that violates Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI policies, including its Code of Conduct.[3] The general audit right applies to AI use as it does to other Service use. See Wrike AI is subject to fair usage Wrike determines.
Out of scope
This article does not reproduce the AI Addendum, Wrike’s Data Processing Addendum, or the legal text of Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI policies. It does not cover the content of individual AI features beyond their tier, or third-party AI provider terms for MCP clients. Allowance figures for plans other than Pinnacle are derived from a 100-user example in the help article rather than stated per user.
