Dashlane licensing

This article is an overview of how Dashlane licenses its password manager and credential security software to organizations and to individuals. Deeper articles cover the Business Terms, the Omnix plans, seat billing and renewal, and the personal plans. It is not legal advice.

On This Page

Dashlane licensing is the set of terms under which Dashlane sells its password manager and credential security software. Two contract families apply. Organizations (“Clients”) contract under the Dashlane Business Terms and Conditions, which govern an “Order” for the Dashlane Services, and individuals contract under the Dashlane Terms of Service, which states that it applies to personal plans and does not apply to Dashlane’s business offerings.[1][2] The two documents are separate, so the same Dashlane vault can be governed by either, depending on whether the account is a personal account or one provided by an employer.[2]

For an organization, the product is the Dashlane Omnix platform, sold in three packages: Omnix Password Management, Omnix Credential Protection and Omnix Enterprise. The Help Center describes the platform as covering two areas, Password Management and Credential Protection, with Omnix Enterprise combining both in one package.[4] Dashlane calls these “professional plans” in its Help Center. Older names still appear on contracts and invoices: Dashlane Business became Omnix Password Management and Dashlane Omnix became Omnix Enterprise, and Dashlane states that these were name changes only, with the same features, settings, pricing and access.[5] A licence manager reading a pre-2026 order should map “Business” to Password Management and “Omnix” to Enterprise.

Dashlane no longer sells the Starter, Team or Standard plans, but customers that already have one can keep and renew it or switch to another plan.[4] For personal use, Dashlane Free, Premium Plus, Premium Plus Family, Essentials and Advanced are no longer offered or sold, and no plan has a monthly subscription any more.[6]

Metrics

Dashlane uses plain counting units rather than a named metric family. The Business Terms define a User as an employee, contractor or individual authorized to use the Services under the Client’s account, and the Order states the number of authorized Users.[1] The Help Center speaks of seats: seats are bought in the Admin Console, a member occupies a seat, and the Account Summary page shows the number of seats bought.[8] For Credential Protection the unit is the employee covered, because Omnix Enterprise lets an organization choose the number of Password Management seats and, separately, the number of employees covered by Credential Protection.[4] Personal plans are counted by member (one for Premium, up to ten for Friends & Family), and device count is unlimited on all current plans.[11]

Counting and floors

The floors that appear in Dashlane’s documents are small. An Omnix Password Management plan bought directly needs at least 2 seats, and a seat count bought after a trial cannot be lower than the number of members already invited.[9] Omnix Enterprise is described as custom-priced for organizations of 50 employees or more in the Help Center, and as built for organizations with more than 50 users on the pricing page; the two documents differ at exactly 50.[5][3] The more consequential rule is that a professional plan renews at its full seat count, so empty seats are billed, and seats can be removed only if Support is asked at least 30 days before renewal.[8][7] The seat mechanics are covered in Dashlane seats, billing, renewal and offboarding.

Virtualization and partitioning

Dashlane’s documents contain no virtualization, processor or core rules. The software is delivered as browser extensions, desktop and mobile apps and a cloud service, and the Business Terms limit support to the current and most recent prior major version of the operating system or browser and to App versions that are no more than one year old.[1] A related constraint is that a person can belong to only one professional plan: an error appears when an admin adds someone who is already a member of another professional plan.[9]

Cloud and entitlement mechanics

All Dashlane plans are cloud-connected subscriptions. Business Terms Section 10 gives an initial term of one year, or the period on the Order, followed by automatic one-year renewals unless the Client gives written notice of non-renewal at least 30 days before expiry.[1] A business plan that is not paid enters a 30-day grace period with normal use, and then a limited state in which members cannot log in.[13] Single sign-on and SCIM provisioning are only available to organizations with Password Management or Credential Protection.[12] The Business Terms as retrieved contain no licence-audit or usage-verification section, so compliance questions turn on the Order, the stated number of authorized Users and the Terms themselves.[1]

Out of scope

This article does not cover Dashlane’s privacy policy, its security architecture, the Data Processing Addendum, or the partner programs. Dashlane’s Help Center is partly gated by a bot challenge, so articles were read in a browser session on 2026-10-08, and some pages are revised frequently; the Help Center shows an “updated” time on each article. Prices on the personal pricing page are localised and rendered by script, so figures other than those cited here may apply in other countries. The wiki’s coverage of comparable products is in 1Password licensing, Bitwarden licensing and Keeper Security licensing.
