Dashlane’s personal plans are the subscriptions that an individual or a household buys from Dashlane or through an app store. Two plans are sold: Premium for one member and Friends & Family for a plan manager and invited members.[2] They are governed by the Dashlane Terms of Service, which state that they apply to users of the personal plans and to people who use the Services without an account, that they do not apply to business offerings, and that a person with an account supplied by an employer is governed by the agreement between Dashlane and the employer.[1]
The Terms of Service were last updated on 2026-04-08. They may be changed at any time; amended terms are effective immediately for new users and 30 days after posting for existing users.[1] They contain a short plain-language summary at the start of each section, which the document says is for convenience only and is not part of the agreement.[1]
Editions
| Plan | Members | Devices | Price signal (EUR session, 2026-10-08) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | 1 | Unlimited | EUR 3.96 per month plus VAT, billed annually[4] | Includes VPN for Wi-Fi protection, Dark Web Monitoring, Scam Protection[2] |
| Friends & Family | 10 | Unlimited | EUR 6.00 per month plus VAT for 10 members, billed annually[4] | VPN for the manager only[3] |
Both plans list unlimited stored passwords, unlimited devices, unlimited secure sharing, a Password Generator, Dark Web Monitoring, Secure Notes with 1 GB of encrypted file storage, password history, two-factor authentication, real-time phishing alerts and live chat support.[2] The pricing page shows “Number of members 1” for Premium and “10” for Friends & Family.[4] Dashlane announced that updated personal prices would take effect on its website, the App Store and the Play Store from mid-February 2026, and that existing customers would be notified before their renewal date.[10]
Dashlane Free, Premium Plus, Premium Plus Family, Essentials and Advanced are no longer offered or sold. No plan has a monthly subscription any more, and, depending on where it was bought, an existing customer may continue to renew a retired plan annually.[2] The catalog row Retired personal plans lists these names.
Metrics
Personal plans are counted by member and, for Premium, by single account; device count is unlimited.[4] The Terms of Service define the Friends & Family roles: the Manager pays for the plan and invites others, and a Member is an individual who accepts an invitation.[1] See Friends & Family Member.
The documents disagree on the member count. The Terms of Service say each plan has one Manager and up to ten Members, the pricing page says “10 members” and “10 accounts, one subscription”, and the family page says up to 10 individuals under one subscription, while the Help Center describes the Manager and nine others.[1][4][5][3] The pricing-change FAQ says up to 9 friends and family members.[10] A licence manager checking a plan against its checkout screen should treat 10 total seats, the figure the pricing page uses, as the safer count and confirm the exact number with Dashlane.
Counting and floors
The Terms of Service set these limits on a Friends & Family plan.[1]
- Each plan has one Manager and up to ten Members.
- A person may be a Member or Manager of only one such plan at a time, and may not join any such plan more than twice.
- Managers must be of the age of majority where they live, and children may be Members, in which case the Manager represents that they consent to the processing of the child’s information and are responsible for the child’s compliance with the Terms.
- Managers may not accept compensation from Members as a condition for inviting them, including fees paid through subscription-sharing sites.
The Help Center adds that a plan has only one manager, that the manager account is tied to the email address used to buy the plan and cannot be transferred, and that only the manager can cancel the plan.[3] A member of an organization’s Password Management plan already has access to Friends & Family at no extra cost.[3] The Friends & Family FAQ says that the plan is designed for personal use among family and close friends and that business solutions should use the business plans.[5]
Virtualization and partitioning
The personal licence is a personal, non-exclusive, revocable, non-sublicensable and non-transferable licence to download and install the Apps on one or more devices as permitted by the subscription type, for personal use.[1] The restrictions prohibit renting, leasing, sharing, distributing or selling any aspect of the Services to a third party, including on a service bureau basis. The Terms add that this specifically prevents any exchange of funds for access to a family plan through third-party sites such as Sharesub, Spliiit or Diivii.[1] Mobile Apps are also subject to the rules of the app store they came from.[1] Dashlane generally supports only the current major version of each platform, and a user may be required to install an update if the App is more than one year old.[1]
Cloud and entitlement mechanics
Fees and renewal. Subscriptions are paid in advance for each billing period and renew automatically for the same duration at the rates then in effect. Dashlane informs the user at least 30 days before the renewal date, and if payment is not received within 15 days of renewal, Dashlane may suspend or terminate access.[1] An upgrade is charged for the full duration of the new plan with a pro-rata credit for the remaining value of the prior plan.[1]
Cancellation and refunds. A subscription can be cancelled at any time and remains usable until it expires, without a refund. The full fee for an annual subscription is refunded if requested within 30 days of the subscription start or renewal.[1] Cancelling turns off auto-renewal, and a user keeps the plan until the end of the billing period.[7] A subscription bought through Google Play, the Apple App Store or PayPal is cancelled with that company. A card purchase on dashlane.com can be cancelled in the web app. New personal plans can no longer be paid for with PayPal except in the United Kingdom.[7][8] VAT may apply to EU and UK customers, and US customers may owe state and local sales tax determined by ZIP code.[8]
Expiry. If a subscription expires or a trial ends without purchase, the user can still log in but can only export passwords; adding, editing, copying or viewing them is not possible. In a Friends & Family plan all members can still log in and export until the manager buys a new plan.[6] When a Friends & Family plan ends, members revert to the plan type they had before joining, or to a free plan if they were new; the Help Center says a member who was new to Dashlane then enters export-only mode.[1][3] A member who leaves the plan has their account suspended unless they subscribe to their own plan.[1]
Partner features. Dark Web Monitoring and the VPN are provided by third-party partners, who may require extra validation or supplemental terms.[1] The Help Center names Hotspot Shield as the VPN, and says the VPN is available only to the Friends & Family manager, not to invited members.[11][3]
Governing law and disputes. EU residents contract with Dashlane SAS under French law; others contract with Dashlane USA, Inc. under New York law and, unless local law prohibits it, individual binding arbitration before JAMS in New York, with a right to opt out in writing within 30 days of accepting the Terms.[1]
Leaving a business plan. A person whose work account is removed from a professional plan can keep the account on a personal Premium plan for 40 days if they log in with a Master Password and still have access to their work email or device.[12]
Programs
- Student Premium trial: students with a valid university email address can get Premium free for one year; the free trial versions do not include the VPN.[9]
- Referral reward: a referrer and the invited friend each get six months of Premium for free, up to four referrals and a maximum of two years of free Premium. A person who already had a Dashlane account cannot earn a referral reward.[9]
- Friends & Family plan structure: described above.
- The Terms of Service say that, during a free trial, the Services are provided as is without warranty or indemnity and that, at the end, access automatically converts to a subscription unless cancelled.[1] The pricing page advertises a 14-day free trial of Premium.[4]
Out of scope
This article does not cover the arbitration process in detail, the Privacy Policy, the SMS terms for two-factor authentication or the Beta program, which excludes people associated with named competitors.[1] It also does not cover professional plan pricing or seats, which are in Dashlane Omnix plans and Dashlane seats, billing, renewal and offboarding.
