Autodesk Single User and Flex licensing

This article covers Autodesk Offering Types that the Terms of Use actually name (Single User, Multi User, Flex, Token Flex, Capacity-based Offerings). It is not legal advice. Terms of Use retrieved 31 August 2026 are the quoted sources. Token Flex desktop daily rates live in the customer Enterprise Business Agreement and are not public. Do not treat this page as a substitute for the executed EBA or Offering Identification.

Autodesk Single User and Flex licensing is how Autodesk sells current commercial subscriptions: Single User (dedicated named-user seat on a unique Autodesk ID), Flex (prepaid Flex Tokens consumed at a daily Token Rate), Token Flex (enterprise tokens under an Additional Agreement / EBA), and Capacity-based Offerings measured in Capacity Units.[1] Multi User (network / concurrent) is still defined on Offering Types last updated 28 August 2026, but 1-year multi-user subscriptions were retired 6 February 2023.[1][10] Flex FAQ: both Single User and Flex are forms of named user access.[3] Autodesk published no Named-User-to-Token conversion.

Offering types

Terms of Use, Offering Types and Benefits (last updated 28 August 2026): “Offering Types” means the types of access license(s) available for each Offering. Autodesk lists: Single User; Multi User (which may be described or labeled as “multi-user” or similar); Capacity-based Offerings; Flex; Autodesk Platform Services (“APS”); Education; and Cloud Credits.[1]

General Terms (last updated 30 March 2026): “Offering Type” means the license type specified by Autodesk for a subscription (for example, single-user, multi-user, or Flex).[2] Standard / Business Success / Enterprise are Success Benefits packages, not license types.[16] Software is “licensed for a limited subscription period, not sold.”[citation needed] Each subscription has a fixed Offering Term.[2]

Collection means two or more Autodesk products licensed together in a single Offering.[1] Concurrent use of titles in a Collection still follows the Single User device rule: one Desktop Device and one Mobile Device at a time.[1] See Autodesk Industry Collections. A Collection is not split into per-title Named User counts unless Autodesk documentation for that Collection says so.

Metrics

The catalog has five rows for Autodesk, each under Autodesk’s own name. Authorized User / Autodesk ID is the identity, not a purchase meter.[1][2] Cloud Credits are retired (purchase ended 29 March 2022; individual credits expired 29 March 2023).[13] Annual Declared Value is value-based pricing for Forma / construction, not a seat meter.[citation needed]

Names that are not separate catalog rows

  • Authorized User / Autodesk ID. Identity of the person who holds or consumes an Offering. General Terms: identified individuals for whom you acquired a subscription.[2] Devices are not Authorized Users.
  • Offering Term / Subscription. Time-bounded grant, not a count unit.[2]
  • Cloud Credits. TOU: Flex tokens have replaced Cloud Credits; the Flex Rate Sheet also applied to Cloud Credits.[1] Product page: purchase ended 29 March 2022; individual credits expired 29 March 2023.[13]
  • Annual Declared Value (formerly Represented Aggregated Project Value). Construction value-based pricing. BIM Collaborate Navisworks bands (0 / 1:5 / 1:10 / 1 per USD 25,000,000 ADV) do not apply to BIM Collaborate / BIM Collaborate Pro purchased or renewed on or after 31 July 2026.[citation needed]
  • APS tokens. TOU Offering Type plus Additional Terms: 1 Flex Token and/or 1 cloud credit equals 1 Token Flex Token for Autodesk Platform Services use only.[1][8] The full APS rate table is not reproduced here.
  • Education. Listed Offering Type[1]; not a commercial meter in the catalog.

Counting / floors

Single User — unique Autodesk ID; concurrent Desktop + Mobile. TOU: each Authorized User must be assigned a unique Autodesk ID; no one else may use the same ID. Concurrent use: one Desktop Device and one Mobile Device at a time. Background Activities do not count toward that limit. Reassignment is allowed via Autodesk’s policy; it is not pooling or seat-sharing.[1] Catalog proof: Single User — Authorized User / named-user assignment and concurrent devices (backs Single User — Authorized User / named-user assignment and concurrent devices).

Flex day = contiguous 24 hours from first launch. Contiguous 24-hour period that begins when an Authorized User first launches the Flex Offering.[1] FAQ: 5-minute sign-in/out does not charge; one charge per named user per product per 24 hours.[3] No per-user token cap (admins cannot set one).[citation needed] Packs are not split across teams: the live rate sheet states that tokens from a token pack may not be split among multiple teams.[6] Catalog proof: Flex Token day = contiguous 24 hours from first launch (backs Flex Token day = contiguous 24 hours from first launch).

Tokens expire 12 months; individual / partial packs unavailable. All Tokens expire twelve (12) months from the date of purchase of the Token Pack containing those Tokens. Individual Tokens and partial Token Packs are not available.[1][5] Catalog proof: Flex Tokens expire 12 months; individual/partial packs unavailable (backs Flex Tokens expire 12 months; individual/partial packs unavailable).

Flex vs FAQ device count (unresolved). TOU Flex: one Electronic Device at a time.[1] Flex FAQ: install on up to 3 devices and run from one.[3] Autodesk has not reconciled the two; the Terms of Use control for contract meaning. Catalog proof: Flex — one Electronic Device at a time (backs Flex — one Electronic Device at a time).

AutoCAD 7; Inventor 8; Revit 10; Maya 6; 3ds Max 6; Fusion 360 2; Civil 3D 9; Navisworks Manage 9; Vault Professional 3.[5] PDF: Autodesk may modify daily token rates prospectively.[5] Live HTML sheet may differ[6]; the rates on this page are from the saved PDF. These rates do not apply to Token Flex desktop products.

Same Autodesk ID, Single User + Flex. Flex overview: when a user is assigned to both a single-user subscription and Flex tokens, tokens are not used.[4]

Token Flex / Capacity under EBA (public cloud rates only). Forma for Construction (Daily) (ACC Daily renamed 25 March 2026)[citation needed]: 10 tokens per Authorized User per Day, or 3 if triggering events are limited to Forma Data Management / BIM 360 Document Management.[8] AutoCAD Web max 1/user/day. Cloud Worksharing 3/day on save. Forma Site Design and Forma Building Design max 7/user/day. Unlisted cloud services typically 0.[7] APS Enterprise 120,000 annual / 10,000 monthly is an illustrative table, not a universal floor.[8] Desktop AutoCAD/Revit/Inventor/Maya/3ds Max Token Flex rates are not public (EBA Attachment 1).[citation needed] Capacity Offerings with Token Flex as Underlying Offering may continue at token balance zero; excess is paid per the EBA.[citation needed] Catalog proof: Token Flex / Capacity Unit consumption under EBA (backs Token Flex / Capacity Unit consumption under EBA).

Flex Token ≠ Token Flex Token, except APS: “1 Flex Token and/or 1 cloud credit equals 1 Token Flex Token for Autodesk Platform Services use.”[1][8] Catalog proof: Flex Token exclusive to Flex (cannot substitute Token Flex / other proxies) (backs Flex Token exclusive to Flex (cannot substitute Token Flex / other proxies)).

Historical trade-in (closed). One multi-user subscription or network maintenance seat for two standard named-user subscriptions.[11][12] The campaign FAQ publishes 6 February 2024 as the last day to trade in a multi-user subscription (6 May 2022 for network maintenance), while the same page says multi-user subscriptions retire on 7 February 2023 and the Retired products page gives 6 February 2023.[10][11] The 2023 dates mark the end of multi-user renewals and the 2024 date marks the last trade-in day; Autodesk does not explain how a trade-in could fall after renewals ended. The formal offer terms (update effective 25 February 2021) end offer availability on 7 August 2023.[12] It is not a current conversion right. See Autodesk transition to named user licensing.

No published Single User purchase floor on Offering Types. Quantities live on the Offering Identification / order.[citation needed] Autodesk publishes no Named-User↔Token (Single User ↔ Flex or Single User ↔ Token Flex) commercial conversion.

Virtualization

Autodesk Virtualization Policy (retrieved 31 August 2026) groups Named user subscription: Single-user subscription (software installation Allowed); Flex (Allowed); Enterprise Business Agreement / Token Flex (Allowed for software installation and server components). Multi-user subscription: software installation Not allowed; server components Allowed.[14] Autodesk publishes no hypervisor, socket, or core-factor metrics, and no conversion of Single User seats to Flex Tokens. Catalog proof: Virtualization policy by purchase type (backs Virtualization policy by purchase type).

Cloud / BYOL

Current commercial subscriptions are Cloud Services and Software under the Terms of Use.[2] Token Flex Cloud Services Catalog is incorporated by the customer Agreement.[7] BYOS is named on subscription-offerings legal pages; the BYOS help article was not accessible at retrieval[citation needed], so BYOS rights are not described here. No public BYOL hypervisor metric was found.

Programs

The catalog lists two Autodesk programs: Flex and Enterprise Business Agreement.

  • Flex. Prepaid Token Packs; unlimited Authorized Users each assigned to a Team with at least one Token Pack; tokens expire 12 months; Flex Token exclusive to Flex.[1][5] Buying Flex does not put the customer in a Token Flex EBA.[citation needed] Device concurrency, the 24-hour day, expiry, exclusivity, and zero balance are covered under Counting / floors.
  • Enterprise Business Agreement (EBA / Additional Agreement). Token Flex Program documents (Cloud Services Catalog, Additional Terms, Usage Data Table) are incorporated by that Agreement.[7][8][9] Additional Agreement controls over General Terms to the extent set forth in the Additional Agreement.[2] Desktop Token Flex rates stay in Attachment 1 (not public).[citation needed] Catalog proof for Capacity / Token Flex under EBA: Token Flex / Capacity Unit consumption under EBA.
  • Offering Identification / order. Permitted number, Offering Type, Territory, Offering Term.[citation needed]
  • Terms of Use. General Terms + Offering Types and Benefits + Success Benefits + Special Terms. Current subscription contract.[1][2][16] https://www.autodesk.com/terms
  • License and Services Agreement (FY22). Posted for Maintenance Plan materials and where Autodesk indicates LSA applies. The LSA says: if you purchased a subscription, Current Subscription Terms apply.[15] LSA Network counting does not apply to current Single User or Flex subscriptions.
  • Flex Token Packs. Specified quantity of Tokens purchased as a unit. Individual Tokens and partial Token Packs are not available.[1]

  • Named-User-to-Token conversion (Single User ↔ Flex or Single User ↔ Token Flex).
  • Token Flex desktop daily rates for AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor, Maya, 3ds Max (EBA Attachment 1).
  • Copying Flex Rate Sheet rates onto Token Flex desktop products.
  • Multi-user revival math or current commercial AutoCAD/Revit network SKUs.
  • List prices / regional SRP / Token Flex token price.
  • Affiliate seat-sharing beyond quoted Value-Based “Subsidiaries” (≥50% voting shares) and Flex Token Pack transfer to an Affiliated Entity (full balance only).[citation needed]
  • Cloud Credits as a current purchasable meter.
  • Success Plan names (Standard / Business Success / Enterprise) as license types.
  • Collection-to-title unbundling beyond TOU.
  • Per-user Flex token budgets.
  • Token Flex true-up percentages (excess is paid per the EBA).
  • A Flex ↔ Token Flex conversion beyond the APS-only 1:1.
  • Partner and reseller blogs and SAM tool vendor marketing.
