Autodesk Flex and Token Flex are Autodesk’s two token-based ways of licensing software and cloud services. Flex is a self-service offering in which customers prepay for Token Packs and spend tokens at published rates. Token Flex is an enterprise programme that runs under a signed Enterprise Business Agreement (EBA). The Terms of Use keep the two apart: a Flex Token “is exclusive to Flex and cannot be used in place of tokens, credits or other similar proxies associated with other Offerings”.[4] Flex rates are public on the Flex Rate Sheet. Token Flex desktop rates are set in each customer’s agreement, and only Token Flex cloud-service rates are published, in the Cloud Services Catalog.[1][5]
Editions
Flex has no editions. Each product on the Flex Rate Sheet becomes a “Flex Offering” with its own Token Rate, and the product’s commercial edition is part of its name on the sheet (for example PowerMill - Standard at 26 tokens per day against PowerMill - Ultimate at 47).[1] Industry Collections are not listed as Flex Offerings. A Flex user reaches the individual titles one at a time, and each title is charged at its own rate.
Token Flex is not a product edition either. It is a way of consuming Autodesk Offerings that is written into the EBA, which the General Terms give as the example of an Additional Agreement: “any agreement signed directly with an Autodesk entity that expressly supplements or amends the Terms”.[8]
Metrics
- Flex Token: the prepaid unit, sold in whole Token Packs that expire twelve months after purchase.[4]
- Token Rate: the rate at which a Flex Offering uses tokens from the first time an Authorized User opens it. For per-day rates, a day is the 24 hours that start when the user first launches the product.[4]
- Token Flex and Daily Token Consumption Rate: enterprise tokens and the per-Day rates in the Cloud Services Catalog.[5]
- Burst Unit: a Capacity Unit paid for with Flex or Token Flex tokens.[4]
- Processing hour (Autodesk Platform Services): the time-based rate some Autodesk Platform Services (APS) APIs charge.[3]
Flex consumption rates
The live Flex Rate Sheet sorts Flex Offerings into three tables.[1]
- Charged per day. “Tokens are charged every 24 hours while the product or service is in use.” This table covers most desktop titles.
- Charged per result. Services that “design, render, simulate, or provide other results” are listed with the rate “Varies”. Examples are Rendering, Fusion Simulation Extension, ReCap Photo, CFD cloud service entitlement and Autodesk Platform Services.
- No charge. “Although tokens aren’t charged, you do need a token balance to access these products and services.” Examples are Desktop Connector, Drive, Factory Design Utilities, Inventor Nesting, Inventor Tolerance Analysis, Revit Generative Design and the Vault Basic client and server. Sources: live sheet[1] and 2021 PDF.[2] The Terms of Use let Autodesk add, change or remove Token Rates, with changes taking effect “immediately upon publication of a new Flex Rate Sheet” or on a later stated date.[4] The live sheet shows no effective date, so any rate used in a calculation should be recorded with the date it was retrieved. Catalog rows: Flex daily rate for Fusion: 3 tokens per day (2 tokens on the 2021 sheet), Flex daily rate for Moldflow Insight Ultimate: 189 tokens per day.
Both sheets give dollar estimates. These are “based on $3 global SRP per token as of September 7, 2021” and exclude taxes and volume pricing.[2][1] The Flex buying page says customers “pay less per token when you buy 5,000 or more”.[3]
Autodesk Platform Services
APS APIs can be paid for with Flex tokens under the Prepay Access Option. The Flex buying page lists Model Derivative API at 0.5 token per complex job and 1 token per simple job, Automation API at 2 tokens per processing hour, Flow Graph Engine API at 1 token per processing hour, and Reality Capture API at 1 token per 50 photos. The Viewer and Data Management APIs are free.[3] The Terms of Use state that when APS is paid for through Token Flex, the tokens charged per API call “is set forth in Your enterprise business agreement”.[4] See Autodesk Platform Services via Flex: Model Derivative API 0.5 or 1 token per job.
Counting / floors
- Per user, per product, per day. “All token rates listed above are on a per-user basis.”[1] A user who opens two Flex products on the same day pays both rates.
- Whole packs, one Team. Individual tokens and partial Token Packs are not sold.[4] “At this time, tokens from a token pack may not be split among multiple teams.”[1] See Flex: token rates are per user; tokens from one pack may not be split among Teams.
- Zero or insufficient balance. When all tokens are used, users lose access to every Flex Offering, including zero-rate ones. If the balance is too low for a particular rate, only that product is blocked.[4]
- Affiliate transfer. A Token Pack may be moved to an Affiliated Entity only if its whole remaining balance is transferred.[4]
- Capacity as Burst Units. When Flex is the Underlying Offering for a Capacity Offering, use is limited by the tokens available and rates come from the Flex Rate Sheet. When Token Flex is the Underlying Offering, users can keep going after the token balance reaches zero, and the excess is paid under the EBA at rates in the Cloud Services Catalog.[4]
Token Flex under the Enterprise Business Agreement
Autodesk does not publish a standard EBA contract. The published Token Flex documents are incorporated into each customer’s Agreement by reference and can be changed by Autodesk:
- Cloud Services Catalog (effective 31 August 2026). It lists Daily Token Consumption Rates, for example Fusion Manufacturing Extension at 10 and Fusion Design Extension at 4. When Flex Auto Access is assigned, these are charged whenever the user opens Fusion, “regardless of actual access” to the extension that day. The catalog also lists per-result rates: Fusion Simulation Extension at 3, 6 or 11 tokens per solve or study, Rendering at 1 token per 6 megapixels at standard quality, CFD cloud service at 5, 10 or 35 tokens per simulation, and Flow Wedging at 2 tokens per processing hour. For Capacity Offerings it lists Cloud Sim Compute at 1 token per equivalent hour, for subscriptions that begin or renew after 17 August 2026, and Fusion AI Image Generation at 1 token per 10 generations. Cloud Services without a listed rate “are typically accessible with a zero Token Consumption Rate”.[5] Catalog rows: Token Flex: Fusion extensions charged daily when Flex Auto Access is assigned, Token Flex: unlisted Cloud Services typically have a zero Token Consumption Rate, Token Flex Capacity: Cloud Sim Compute consumes 1 token per equivalent hour, pooled per Team.
- Additional Terms for Specific Offerings (effective 7 June 2026). These apply “to the extent any such Offering is made available to You via Your Enterprise Business Agreement”. For example, ACC Daily, renamed Forma for Construction (Daily) on 25 March 2026, uses 10 tokens per Authorized User per Day, or 3 if the user only uses document management.[6]
- Usage Data Table (effective 22 July 2022). It sets how usage is reported for each Offering Group. Group 1 desktop products report through Network License Reporting Services (NLRS and NLRM). Group 2 cloud services report session or event data through a web service. Group 3 reports the number of user accounts assigned. The table “is subject to change by Autodesk, and such changes will be effective upon posting”.[7] See Token Flex usage reporting follows the Usage Data Table, changeable on posting.
- Token Flex License Implementation Terms (July 2020). Autodesk’s consulting scope for setting up the “Enterprise program License file and Network License Reporting Services (NLRS)” at customer sites, which provides a reporting structure to meet Autodesk contractual requirements under an Enterprise Program Pilot or an EBA.[9]
Where the EBA and the Terms of Use conflict, “the Additional Agreement will control in relation to its subject matter to the extent set forth in the Additional Agreement”.[8] See Additional Agreement (for example an EBA) controls over General Terms to the extent it says so.
Virtualization & partitioning
The Autodesk virtualization policy allows software installation to be virtualized for Single User, Flex and EBA (Token Flex) purchases. Only the EBA also allows server components to be virtualized. In every case “only one authorized user can access a single license at a time”.[10] Autodesk publishes no core, socket or host-based partitioning metric for token products.
Cloud / BYOL
Flex and Token Flex authorize named Autodesk IDs rather than machines, so no host-based cloud BYOL rule applies. Flex Offerings can be used worldwide, whether bought in an Approved Country or a Non-Approved Country.[4]

- Enterprise Business Agreement: the signed Additional Agreement that carries Token Flex.
