Atera add-ons, AI and App Center licensing

This article is about Atera's add-ons (Network Discovery, Work from Home), its AI products (AI Copilot and Robin) and third-party App Center and remote-access integrations. For the main subscription see Atera technician subscription and billing terms.

On This Page

Atera add-ons, AI and App Center licensing covers the Atera products that are charged, or not charged, outside the per-technician plan price. The main subscription includes remote access, patching and ticketing. Optional add-ons and third-party integrations cost extra.[1] Atera lists App Center integrations, Network Discovery on lower plans, and Robin as optional paid add-ons billed separately.[15] Under the Terms of Use, Atera may introduce additional Features that are subject to Supplemental Terms. Using a Feature counts as accepting its Supplemental Terms, and Features may carry extra Fees specified in the Order Form.[6]

Metrics

  • Network Discovery uses the Technician metric.[1]
  • Work from Home uses Work from Home device. The FAQ bills per device per month on the maximum enabled device count, while the pricing page quotes the price per end user.[5][1]
  • Robin uses Robin Contact: an End User assigned to a specific customer or site within the Platform with “Active” status.[6]
  • App Center apps use the partner’s unit. Atera records whether the charge follows maximum or actual usage as reported by the integration partner (App Center maximum usage). The legacy Online Backup product is billed on Online Backup selected size.[2]

Counting / floors

Network Discovery

Network Discovery is charged in advance and activated for all the active users in the account, so it cannot be licensed for only some technicians. If the main subscription is billed monthly, Network Discovery must also be billed monthly.[2] It is developed in-house and included with the Enterprise plan (Superpower in the MSP product). On other plans it is an optional paid add-on.[3] A free 14-day trial deactivates automatically, so no subscription starts afterwards. Only Admin users can activate or deactivate the add-on, and deactivation is immediate.[4] The count of scanned devices has no licensing effect: one Windows device with the Atera agent acts as the scanning agent for a subnet and inventories all IP-reachable devices.[3] Catalog proof: Network Discovery is activated for all active technicians; Network Discovery is included in Enterprise and paid on other plans.

Work from Home

Work from Home is billed per device, per month, on the maximum enabled device count in the billing cycle. Annual plans are not available.[5] Licences can be reassigned between devices, but every device active at any point in the cycle is billed. In the FAQ’s example, enabling devices A and B, then disabling A and enabling C in the same cycle, bills three devices.[5] After a free 7-day trial, billing starts automatically for every end-user device with remote access enabled.[2] Catalog proof: Work from Home is billed on the maximum enabled devices in the cycle.

Robin

Robin Subscriptions are calculated on the number of Contacts shown on the Platform, as measured by Atera, and are paid in advance for the Order Form quantity even if fewer Contacts use them.[6] If Contacts exceed the purchased quantity during a calendar quarter, the customer is deemed to have bought additional Robin Subscriptions. These are invoiced on the maximum Contacts recorded that quarter, at the same unit fee, for the rest of the term. At renewal the quantity resets to the maximum Contacts used in the preceding term.[6] The Atera AI FAQ describes Robin as billed per user per month on an annual basis. Usage is measured quarterly as “max daily active users vs. purchased licenses”, and any difference is billed pro rata for the remaining term.[7] Robin can be enabled for specific sites or customers, or for all of them.[16] The Terms state the count as Active Contacts assigned to a customer or site, not as sites where Robin is enabled.[6] Catalog proof: Robin is billed per active Contact with a quarterly true-up; Robin quantity resets at renewal to the prior term maximum; Robin Contact is an active end user assigned to a customer or site; Robin usage is measured quarterly as maximum daily active users.

App Center

App Center charges are invoiced on the 10th of each month for the previous month’s usage.[2] Axcient, Bitdefender, Domotz, Emsisoft, Ironscales, ThreatDown, Online Backup and Webroot are charged on maximum usage. Acronis, Cynet, ESET, Keeper and Zomentum are charged on actual usage, as reported by the integration partner.[2] Some apps set their own floors and counting rules. Cynet requires a minimum deployment of 20 endpoints. For Webroot licences activated through Atera after 2024-11-03, the charge is based on endpoints that checked in during the last 30 days.[2] During October and November 2026 Atera is moving accounts to one invoice per marketplace vendor; the total charge does not change.[2]

Virtualization & partitioning

No Atera add-on has a virtualization rule. Third-party products define their own. For example, the Acronis per-workload plan counts physical servers, workstations and virtual machines, while the per-GB plan counts total cloud and local storage with no device limit.[2]

Cloud / BYOL

Remote-access integrations (as retrieved 2026-09-27). The ScreenConnect integration is included in the Atera subscription at no extra cost. It is bring-your-own-license, so the ScreenConnect licence must be bought from ScreenConnect.[12] The TeamViewer integration likewise needs a valid TeamViewer licence. It supports Business, Premium and Corporate licences.[13] Splashtop remains free on all tiers.[13] The Splashtop Premium App Center add-on is billed for each seat in the Atera account after a 7-day trial, and all technicians get its features.[14] Catalog proof: ScreenConnect and TeamViewer integrations are bring-your-own-license; Professional plan limits Splashtop to two concurrent sessions.

Programs

AI Copilot

AI Copilot is the technician-facing assistant. From 2026-06-01 for monthly subscriptions, and from the first renewal on or after late July 2026 for annual subscriptions, it is included in every plan at no additional cost. No separate purchase, activation or add-on is needed.[8] Existing AI Copilot add-on charges are removed at the transition.[2] Cloud actions and the MCP integration are included with AI Copilot.[7] Catalog proof: AI Copilot is included in every plan from June 2026.

Robin and the AI-Assistant terms

Robin was previously called IT Autopilot, and before that the AI assistant.[10] The rename brought no upgrade, add-on or extra charge for existing IT Autopilot subscribers.[9] Robin is bought through Atera’s support or sales team.[16] End-User use of AI Features is governed by the Supplemental Terms of Use for Atera AI Assistant.[6] Those terms bind the individual end user, incorporate the Terms of Use and give the Terms priority on any conflict. Amended versions take effect three days after publication.[11] Under the Terms of Use, AI Features may be used only for IT-related purposes and are provided “AS-IS”.[6] Catalog proof: IT Autopilot renamed Robin with no change in charges; AI-Assistant supplemental terms yield to the Terms of Use on conflict; AI Features may be used only for IT-related purposes.

App Center and Third-Party Services

Under the App Center (Third-Party Services) terms, Atera acts only as an intermediary platform, and each product is governed by a separate Third Party Agreement with its provider.[6] Where Atera charges for a Third Party Service, its fees and usage calculations may differ from the provider’s terms, and Atera’s calculations apply in any discrepancy. Free trials convert automatically to paid subscriptions.[6] Prepaid credits for Third Party Services are non-cancellable, non-transferable and non-refundable. Usage beyond the credit is invoiced and payable within 30 days.[6] Catalog proof: Atera's usage calculation prevails for third-party services it bills.

Out of scope

  • Robin list prices, which Atera does not publish.
  • The licence terms of App Center providers and of TeamViewer, ScreenConnect and Splashtop themselves.
  • Consumer or standalone Splashtop, AnyDesk and TeamViewer subscriptions bought outside Atera.
