Atera IT Department and MSP plans are the two plan families of Atera’s per-technician subscription. When customers open an account they choose between the IT Department solution, for internal IT teams, and the MSP solution, for managed service providers. IT consultants and “Other” sign-ups go to the MSP solution.[10] Both lines use the same Technician metric, with unlimited endpoints.[1][2] An existing account can be moved from one product to the other by Atera support.[3]

Product lines
The line chosen affects both features and use rights. Under the Terms of Use, use is limited to internal use within the customer’s organization and its Affiliates, unless the customer is an MSP. An MSP may use the Services solely to provide services to its Customers and to install the End-User Software on its Customers’ Devices.[11] The main functional difference is the billing module. The MSP version can bill customers for time on tickets and for products and services. The IT Department version cannot create contracts, set contract rates, use Products & Expenses, create invoices or integrate with QuickBooks or Xero.[3] The billing-based reports, such as Customer Profitability and Block Contracts Balance, exist only in the MSP product. SLAs are assigned to contracts in the MSP product and to Sites in the IT Department product. Departments exist only in the IT Department product.[3]

Metrics
Every plan is sold per Technician. The price stays the same however many devices are added.[1] Counting rules are covered in Atera technician subscription and billing terms.
Counting / floors
One plan per account (as retrieved 2026-09-27). All licences under the same account must be on the same package and the same billing period. For the IT Department line the packages are Professional, Expert, Master or Enterprise. For the MSP line they are Pro, Growth, Power or Superpower.[4] A customer cannot license some technicians on a lower plan and others on a higher one. Catalog proof: All licenses in an account must be on the same plan and billing period.
Remote-access concurrency. The built-in Splashtop integration is available on every plan. Professional and Pro users can have up to two concurrent sessions, and the higher plans have unlimited concurrent sessions.[5] For base Splashtop, “concurrent sessions” means multiple sessions on different devices at the same time; multiple technicians cannot access the same device at once. That restriction does not apply to Splashtop Premium.[5] Catalog proof: Professional plan limits Splashtop to two concurrent sessions.
Plan-gated rights. Data recovery from database snapshots is possible only on Power and Superpower (MSP) and on Master and Enterprise (IT Department). On those plans it is included at no additional cost.[6] Network Discovery is included with Enterprise and Superpower and is a paid add-on on the other plans.[9][4] Catalog proof: Data recovery is limited to Power, Superpower, Master and Enterprise; Network Discovery is included in Enterprise and paid on other plans.
Virtualization & partitioning
No plan contains a virtualization or partitioning rule. Plans differ in the managed operating systems they support (Windows only on MSP Pro), not in how devices are counted.[2] See Atera licensing.
Cloud / BYOL
All plans are SaaS. Remote access through TeamViewer or ScreenConnect is listed on the pricing pages as “Bring your own licenses”.[1]
Programs
- Enterprise service level. The Atera Service Level Agreement applies to Enterprise Plan clients that are current on payment. It commits to a 99.9% Monthly Uptime Percentage for the Core Service, which is the RMM and PSA services excluding the API, add-ons and integrations.[8] Service credits range from 5% to 20% of the monthly fee, or of 1/12 of the annual fee. They are credited to the account balance only.[8] The Terms of Use tie the SLA to “an eligible enterprise tier Subscription Plan”.[11] The MSP pricing page lists the same SLA for Superpower.[2] Catalog proof: Uptime SLA applies only to Enterprise plan clients current on payment; SLA credits are account balance only, not refunds.
- HIPAA. Enterprise and Superpower plan customers may enter into a Business Associate Agreement.[7] Without a Subscription that allows PHI and an executed BAA, customers may not provide protected health information to the Services.[11] Catalog proof: BAA is available only on Enterprise and Superpower plans.
- Trial plans. The 30-day trial gives the Expert plan (IT Department) or the Growth plan (MSP).[10]
