- Supplementary Terms concerning Products (2026-07-01) A.1.1: "A “Device” means be each computing device used to collect, process or display digitalized information that, regardless of who owns the device, exists within the field of activity of the customer and for which an active administrative record exists in the Matrix42 Software." Examples: server, desktop computers, notebooks, thin clients, tablets, smartphones, handheld devices.
- Counting rules
- A computing device counts when an active administrative record for it exists in the Matrix42 Software, regardless of who owns it. Infrastructure devices (network printer, router, bridge, hub), peripheral devices (monitor, desktop printer, mobile storage) and other IT objects (SIM card, universal asset) are not computing devices. The complementary Active Management Record definition treats a device record as active unless the customer can prove the device has been stolen, scrapped, is defective or has left the customer's area of disposal. The archived 2024 definition added: "It is irrelevant whether a computing device is operated in a virtualized environment"; the 2026 Device definition omits that sentence, while the 2026 Asset definition keeps it.
