Citrix Customer Success Services (CSS) is the name the Citrix Business Unit Terms give to Maintenance, the technical support and Updates that Cloud Software Group provides for Citrix and NetScaler products.[1] The End User Agreement defines Maintenance as technical support services and Updates provided under the Business Unit Terms, and a Subscription includes the right to receive Maintenance where available.[2] Since the support services effective June 2025, the offerings sold are Citrix Standard Support and Citrix Unified Services; Select, Priority, Priority Plus and TRM remain available until existing contracts expire.[3]
For a software asset manager, CSS matters for three reasons. It must cover every licence, it requires licence telemetry to stay switched on, and a lapse on perpetual licences is not automatically reversible.
Editions
| Offering | Status | Initial response targets | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Citrix Standard Support | Current; “the Maintenance and support package included with the Citrix products” | Severity 1: 30 minutes; Severity 2: 2 hours; Severity 3 and 4: 8 hours | Data sheet 2024-03-05[4] |
| Citrix Unified Services | Current; “an invite-only program” | Severity 1: under 15 minutes; Severity 2: 30 minutes (business hours); Severity 3 and 4: 4 business hours | Delivery guide, June 2025[3] |
| Select, Priority, Priority Plus, TRM | Legacy; available until current contracts expire | Per legacy guide | Delivery guide[3] |
Both current offerings provide business-hours support, with 24/7/365 support for Severity 1 only; business hours are the local hours (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) of the region of the customer’s registered Citrix Account Org ID.[3][4] The guide states that resolution times are not guaranteed.[3]
Metrics
CSS has no metric of its own. It attaches to the licences a customer holds, counted under the metrics in Citrix licensing. The All-in Rule below is expressed as a percentage of those licences.[1]
Counting / floors
All-in Rule (as of 2026-09-30). “In order to receive Maintenance (also known as Customer Success Services (CSS)) benefits, Customer must have active Maintenance for 100% of their licenses.” Partial coverage is not permitted, and benefits may not be extended to licences without active Maintenance.[1] The legacy program terms add that compliance is monitored and that Citrix may suspend CSS benefits and invoice underpaid CSS fees.[5] Catalog: Maintenance All-in Rule: CSS required on 100% of licenses.
Service Level Compliance, legacy tiers (as of 2026-09-30). Under the legacy program terms a customer must keep the same CSS level across all product lines; otherwise it is supported at the lowest of its active levels, with no refunds. On upgrading to a premium level (Advanced, Priority or Priority Plus) all software licences must be upgraded.[5] Catalog: Service Level Compliance: same CSS level across all product lines (legacy CSS).
Late renewals (2025-06). For perpetual products, “Reinstatement of expired Maintenance is offered only at the sole discretion of Citrix. If offered, reinstatement and recovery charges may apply.”[3] Catalog: Late renewal of perpetual Maintenance: reinstatement at Citrix discretion, with charges. For the general practice see Software maintenance and support.
Virtualization & partitioning
The support documents contain no virtualization or partitioning rules. The delivery guide states that XenServer support for non-Citrix use cases is best effort with no guarantee of a fix.[3]
Cloud / BYOL
CSS terms apply to on-premises licences and to subscriptions; for Cloud Services, Maintenance is part of the Subscription.[2] The support documents publish no bring-your-own-licence rules.
Programs
| Program | Catalog row | Terms |
|---|---|---|
| Customer Success Services (Maintenance) | Customer Success Services (Maintenance) | All-in Rule; described at citrix.com/support/programs[1] |
| Citrix Standard Support | Citrix Standard Support | Included with Citrix products; 30-minute Severity 1 target[4] |
| Citrix Unified Services | Citrix Unified Services | Invite-only; under 15-minute Severity 1 target[3] |
Citrix reserves the right to update its CSS packages and requirements at its discretion, with the web pages updated as of each change’s effective date.[3] The End User Agreement also allows Maintenance terms to be updated without notice.[2]
Audits and compliance
Audit consent through CSS (2025-06). By purchasing CSS the customer agrees that Citrix may audit licence compliance under the terms in the CSS support guide.[3] The Standard Support data sheet says the same.[4] The contractual audit clause is section 15.2 of the End User Agreement; see Citrix End User Agreement.[2]
License Server telemetry (2025-06). Citrix License Server collects and reports limited licence telemetry for on-premises product licences. Customers had to move to License Server Version 11.17.2 Build 40000 by 2023-03-31 and must move to each new version within 6 months of its release. Electronic or manual reporting must be active from that version on, and customers not using manual reporting agree to open firewalls for electronic reporting. Citrix may suspend or terminate CSS for non-compliance.[3] Catalog: License Server telemetry must be active; upgrade within 6 months of each new version.
NetScaler telemetry (2025-06). NetScaler Console on-premises customers had to upgrade to build 14.1-25.53 or later, or 13.1-53.22 or later, within 3 months from 2024-06-18 and send telemetry to Citrix. With manual telemetry, the first upload was due by 2024-10-18 and then every 90 days. NetScaler Console service enables telemetry automatically from release 14.1-28.33. “To remain compliant, the number of days since the last successful upload must not be greater than 90 days.”[3] Catalog: NetScaler Console telemetry: upload at least every 90 days.
