RingCentral AI add-ons and bundles

This article is about how RingCentral licenses its AI Receptionist, AI Assistant, AI Conversation Expert, Call Queues and Business SMS Boosters, Customer Engagement Bundles and partner AI add-ons on top of RingEX and RingCX. It is not about the base RingEX user licence or RingCX Seats, which have their own articles.

On This Page

RingCentral sells much of its AI capability as add-ons or bundle components rather than as part of the base RingEX user licence. The RingCentral AI add-ons are described in a single Add-On Service Descriptions page, which says that add-on products may include additional legal obligations and that it is the customer’s responsibility to review them.[1] Each AI service also incorporates the Artificial Intelligence Terms.[2] For licensing, the important facts are the unit of purchase (per licence, per user, per agent, per bundle seat, per conversation), the pooled allowances and the caps.

AI Receptionist minutes

AI Receptionist is an AI voice assistant that understands caller intent, greets customers, answers common questions and transfers calls. The customer subscribes to a monthly licence that includes 100 minutes per licence per month, aggregated across the account with no roll-over. Additional usage is charged against Calling Credits on the account, and as overage once Calling Credits are exceeded; the minutes are separate from RingEX or toll-free minutes.[1] Customers without RingEX must supply and maintain their own telephone number that forwards calls to the RingCentral-assigned number.[1] Calling Credits are the same balance used for international calls under the RingEX attachment, so heavy AI Receptionist use can drain credits intended for international calling.[5] See AI Receptionist licence, Calling Credits and AI Receptionist includes 100 pooled minutes per licence.

Customer Engagement Bundles

The Customer Engagement Bundle is a collection of call center features paired with a RingCentral Ultimate Digital Line on the EX platform, including the Call Queues Booster and Business SMS Booster. AI editions add AI Receptionist (the AIR bundle) or AI Receptionist plus AI Conversation Expert (the AI bundle). RingCentral bills the bundle price multiplied by the number of seats in an account and allots 50 AI Receptionist minutes per user per month, aggregated across the account.[1] The wording refers to the seats in an account, so the Order Form should state which seats the bundle covers. See Customer Engagement Bundle and Customer Engagement Bundle is billed per seat with 50 AIR minutes per user.

Boosters

Call Queues Booster adds live reports, queue callback, position in queue and estimated wait time to RingEX call queues.[1] Business SMS Booster adds a shared text inbox, reply templates and consent tracking. It is billed by multiplying the Booster licence price by the number of unique users configured as SMS recipients or as administrators accessing Consent Management.[1] See Business SMS Booster is billed per unique user.

AI Assistant caps

AI Assistant features process recorded calls to produce transcripts, summaries, topics and next steps, plus phone, SMS, messaging and video functions. Availability varies by package, and RingCentral may limit AI Notes usage to 500 minutes per user per month and all AI features to 100 invocations per user per day.[1] These are fair-use caps rather than entitlement counts, so exceeding them is a service limit and not stated as a billable overage. See AI Assistant usage may be limited per user.

RingCX AI licences

RingCX AI add-ons are monthly licences per agent. Interaction Analytics requires an AI Quality Management licence as a prerequisite, Supervisor Assist may be capped at 4,800 minutes per licence per month, and Live Screen Monitoring is charged on contracted agents rather than usage.[1] The RingCX pricing page lists stand-alone starting prices of USD 25 per user per month for four of these and USD 20 for workforce management.[4] See the RingCX article and Supervisor Assist usage cap of 4,800 minutes per licence.

Counting and floors

Partner services bring their own units and minimums. Cognigy conversation bundles are prepaid in tiers from 1,000 to 1,000,000 conversations, with committed conversations usable freely in the billing period and overage per conversation beyond them. Capacity intelligent virtual agents are billed per session, where a voice call longer than two minutes starts a new session.[1] NovelVox for RingCentral lists an Agent Accelerator licence that requires a minimum of 20 users, per user per month, plus application licences beyond the included integrations and an implementation pack per project.[1] Velocity for RingCX has a 50-user minimum.[1] See AI conversation and session units (Cognigy and Capacity), Cognigy conversations are a 24-hour, 50-input unit, Capacity IVA sessions are two minutes of voice or 30 minutes of chat inactivity and Velocity for RingCX has a 50-user minimum and true-ups.

The Online Terms add that exceeding usage thresholds can create additional charges and that the customer is liable for all charges on its account.[6] See Exceeding usage thresholds creates additional charges.

Use restrictions and AI terms

The Artificial Intelligence Terms apply to each RingCentral service powered by AI. Outputs are for information only and may be inaccurate, so the customer must evaluate accuracy, including through human review. The services are not intended as a substantial factor in decisions about education enrolment, employment, finance or lending, creditworthiness, essential government services, healthcare, housing, insurance or legal services.[2]

The customer warrants that it will obtain consent in the form and for the duration required by law before recording communications or using AI to analyse them, and agrees to indemnify RingCentral against third-party claims arising from a breach of that obligation.[2] RingCentral owns the pre-trained AI models.[2] See The customer must obtain consent to record and analyse communications with AI.

Most AI descriptions also state that the service is not intended or certified for processing payment card information, and the customer warrants it will not use the feature for that purpose.[1] Agent Assist for RingCX additionally states that its use is outside any RingCentral Business Associate Agreement and requires the customer to indemnify RingCentral for HIPAA-related claims.[1] Regulated customers should compare these statements with their own data-handling policies before enabling AI features.

Out of scope

This article does not cover each partner’s own software terms, such as those of Cognigy, Capacity or SpinSci, which the add-on descriptions refer to as separate or pass-through agreements.[1] It also does not cover pricing that is available only by quote.

Compliance checklist

  1. List every AI add-on on the account and the user or agent group each is licensed for.
  2. Monitor AI Receptionist minutes against the pooled 100 minutes per licence and watch Calling Credit drawdown.
  3. Confirm that Customer Engagement Bundle seats match the intended population.
  4. Record consent arrangements for recording and AI analysis in each jurisdiction.
  5. Check that no AI feature is used for payment card data.
