Lansweeper licensing is the set of terms under which Lansweeper sells its asset discovery and inventory software: the cloud-hosted Lansweeper Platform (also called Lansweeper Sites), the on-premises Lansweeper Classic, and the discovery components that feed them. Lansweeper describes the Platform as giving one view of every IT, OT, cloud and IoT asset, discovered through Network Discovery, the IT Agent and Cloud Discovery.[7] Customers contract with Lansweeper NV in Belgium, or with Lansweeper Inc. in Austin, Texas, if they are incorporated or based in the United States or a US territory.[1] The Terms of Use, together with the Order and the Data Processing Agreement, form the contract. Customers accept them by purchasing, installing or otherwise using the Product.[1]
The primary license metric is the Asset. An Order states quantity “based on Lansweeper’s applicable license metrics”, and the Terms name the number of Assets, the number of Help Desk Agents and the number of Lansweeper Deployments as examples.[1] All plans are billed annually, and every plan includes unlimited user seats.[2] The model is therefore a device-style subscription in which the unit is any discovered or manually added asset rather than a named user or processor. For the general pattern, see concurrent and device licensing and subscription and consumption licensing.
Editions
The Terms of Use recognise three kinds of subscription: the Free Plan, the Free Trial and Paid Subscriptions. Paid Subscriptions and Add-ons can be ordered through Lansweeper’s website, the Self-Service Portal, or a Lansweeper or Reseller sales representative.[1] The public pricing page lists the following plans.
| Plan | Assets | Installations | Price shown | Notable inclusions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free Trial | Full access for 14 days, then free up to 100 assets[2] | n/a | Free | Community Support[2] |
| Starter | Includes 2,000 assets[2] | 1 installation[2] | From EUR 219 per month, billed annually[2] | Service Desk ticket enrichment integrations only; SSO; Starter Support[2] |
| Pro | Includes 2,000 assets, expandable to 9,000[2] | Up to 3 installations[2] | From EUR 399 per month, billed annually[2] | Vulnerability and Lifecycle Insights; all integrations; Pro Support[2] |
| Enterprise | Starts at 10,000 assets[2] | More than 3 installations[2] | Custom[2] | Full API access; Customer Success Manager; Concierge Service (add-on); Enterprise Support[2] |
IT, OT, cloud and agent discovery are ticked on all three paid plans in the vendor’s comparison table.[2] The standalone Lansweeper OT scanner is available to all license holders from the Starter license.[10] The plans are recorded as catalog SKUs, for example Lansweeper Pro - annual. Lansweeper publishes no part numbers. Plan contents, add-ons and helpdesk agents are covered in Lansweeper plans and add-ons.
Metrics
| Lansweeper term | Catalog row | Where it applies | What Lansweeper says |
|---|---|---|---|
| Asset | Asset | All plans | Any device, including IT, OT and IoT devices, scanned or discovered on the customer’s systems; any resource or object discovered in the customer’s cloud environment; and any asset created in or added to the Product by the customer.[1] |
| Lansweeper Deployment | Lansweeper Deployment | Installations under a Paid Subscription | A deployment of all necessary Lansweeper software in the customer’s systems.[1] The pricing page calls these installations.[2] |
| Help Desk Agent | Help Desk Agent | Lansweeper Classic helpdesk | End Users with a Help Desk-agent subscription.[1] The helpdesk is licensed per agent.[9] |
| SAM asset | SAM asset (per Lansweeper asset) | Lansweeper SAM add-on | Per-asset annual pricing, one SAM asset per Lansweeper asset.[8] |
Counting / floors
What counts (as retrieved 2026-09-27). Computers, servers, network devices, OT devices, OT cards, Public Cloud workloads and manually created assets count toward the licensed asset limit. Monitors count only if they have extended display data.[3] Only cloud resources that Lansweeper classifies as independent workloads are billable.[3] Catalog proof: Computers, servers, network, OT, cloud workloads and manual assets count; Monitors count only with extended display data; Only independent cloud workloads are billable assets.
At the limit. Once the licensed asset limit is reached, scanning of new and existing assets may stop until assets are deleted or the subscription is upgraded.[3] The Free plan behaves differently: it scans without an asset cap, but only the first 100 scanned assets are licensed and show full details.[4] Catalog proof: Scanning may stop when the asset limit is reached; Free plan licenses the first 100 scanned assets.
Bands and stacking. Pro scales from 2,000 to 9,000 assets in bands of 1,000 assets. Enterprise starts at 10,000 assets and grows in bands of 2,000 assets. Asset licenses are not stackable, whereas helpdesk agent licenses are.[2] Catalog proof: Pro scales from 2,000 to 9,000 assets in bands of 1,000; Enterprise starts at 10,000 assets in bands of 2,000; Asset licenses are not stackable.
The detailed counting rules, including the cloud resource classification and the Free plan’s licensed and unlicensed assets, are in Lansweeper asset counting.
Virtualization & partitioning
Lansweeper does not license by processor or core, so no hard or soft partitioning rules apply. Virtual machines are counted as Assets in their own right. Cloud virtual machines are billable workloads,[3] and the IT Agent reports Hyper-V guests running on a device as separate assets (see Lansweeper asset counting). The retrieved documents publish no host-based alternative for virtualized estates. Catalog proof: IT Agent reports Hyper-V guests and monitors as separate assets. For background, see virtualization and partitioning.
Cloud / BYOL
Lansweeper licenses deployment models rather than a bring-your-own-license mapping. An installation is Cloud-first (managed from a cloud site), On-premise (managed from a local web console) or Hybrid (both). The management type decides whether the license is a license key or a subscription attached to the cloud site.[5] Lansweeper Classic stores its data in the customer’s own Microsoft SQL Server database and suits on-premises, segmented or air-gapped environments.[6] The pricing FAQ states that Lansweeper Cloud comes at no additional licensing cost.[2] With a digital license, a Lansweeper Classic installation’s licensed asset count rolls up into the Lansweeper Site. The installation must sync at least every 24 hours or it reverts to the Free license.[13] See Lansweeper deployment types and license management.
Programs
- Free Trial. A free, time-limited plan with proof-of-concept capabilities. It expires automatically and reverts to the Free Plan.[1] The pricing page offers 14 days of full access.[2]
- Free Plan. An entry-level free plan offered for an undetermined period. Paid Subscriptions that are not renewed revert to it.[1]
- Authorized reseller. Partners resell Subscription Plans whose Scope of Use is restricted to an amount of Assets and/or Help Desk Agents. Each End-Customer must accept the Terms of Use.[11]
- Beta Releases and Preview Features. Testing and evaluation features that are subject to the same license metrics as Lansweeper determines.[1]
- Add-ons. Add-ons are priced on a fixed basis, per Asset or as stated in the Order, and are coterminous with the Paid Subscription.[1] The Lansweeper SAM add-on is sold per asset per year to Pro and Enterprise customers.[8]
Contract terms
The license is limited, revocable, non-transferable and non-exclusive. It covers the customer’s internal business purposes, in accordance with the agreed license metrics.[1] Paid Subscriptions run for one Contract Year and renew automatically. The customer can deactivate renewal at least 30 days before the end of the term.[1] Lansweeper, or a third-party auditor it appoints, may verify compliance. If a verification, or the Product Metadata, reveals non-compliance, Lansweeper may invoice the verification costs and the prior unlicensed use.[1] Use of the AI Features is governed by separate AI Feature Terms, which prevail for those features.[12] Catalog proof: Internal business use within the agreed license metrics; Annual auto-renewal; non-renewal reverts to Free Plan; Lansweeper may verify compliance on first request; Non-compliance found in Product Metadata can be invoiced. See Lansweeper Terms of Use, renewal and compliance, and for the general discipline, software license audit.
Out of scope
This page does not cover the licensing of third-party software that Lansweeper discovers, or the separate licence agreements that govern third-party products Lansweeper resells or bundles (Terms of Use §9.27 and §19.3).[1] It also does not cover the Data Processing Agreement, hardware warranty data or vulnerability content. Partner commercial terms beyond the published Reselling Terms are not public.
