- Definition
- License usage is measured using subscription units, which may cover a different number of resources, depending on the resource CI category. Capacity subscriptions automatically track measured units and counts of transactions, records created, or resources managed such as devices, software, or nodes. HAM: an asset in alm_asset that meets the criteria for a managed IT resource type is counted toward a Subscription Unit based on the predefined ratio of number of assets to subscription units.
- Counting rules
- ITOM: licensable resources are assigned to CI categories; subscription units may cover a different number of resources depending on the resource CI category; the customer contract determines the CI categories and the ratios of CI allocation for subscription units in each category. License Report: Total Count is the average of 90 daily counts of CIs when Aggregated=true (daily count when Aggregated=false). SU ratio = number of CIs in a category counted as one Subscription Unit, determined by the customer contract. 1:1 Server / 1:3 PaaS are not published as current contractual ratios. HAM: every physical asset record in Asset [alm_asset] counts if the resource category is opted in, the asset is in an active state (not Disposed or Retired), and assignment to a user is not required. HAM has no dependency on CMDB CI classes. HAM published assets:SU ratios (assets to Subscription Units): End User Computers 4:1; Servers 1:1; Network Gear 5:1; Mobile Device 10:1; Telecom Network Inventory 1:1; Unclassified hardware 1:1; Monitors 15:1; Storage 3:1; Printers 10:1. Example language: 4 End User Computer assets require a single unit of license. Unclassified hardware, Monitors, Storage, and Printers require HAM 10.1.0+ and HAM license version 5.0. When more than one HAM solution is activated, an opted-in category is licensed only under one solution. ITOM bundle consumption is deducted from the bundle first, then a la carte. There is no conversion from Users to Subscription Units.
