- Definition
- Pricing FAQ: "A paid seat can be thought of as a license for one member to use your Notion workspace." Billing help: "One seat is assigned to each member in a workspace." Members are people in your company or organization with workspace-wide access.
- Counting rules
- Counted per workspace: separate paid workspaces are billed separately even when the same people belong to several of them. A new member takes an existing open seat if one exists; otherwise the paid seat count rises by one and a prorated charge is added. Removing a member opens a seat that can be refilled at no charge until the end of the billing period. At each renewal (monthly or annual) the paid seat count is synchronized to the number of members in the workspace. Restricted members are billed the same way as members; temporary members (approved Marketplace consultants) do not use a paid seat; guests are free.
- Floors / minimums
- No published minimum seat count for Plus or Business. The Free Plan allows additional members, but a workspace with two or more people is limited to 1,000 blocks. Enterprise self-serve upgrade is offered to organizations with fewer than 100 employees; larger organizations contract through sales.
