Splashtop Remote Support is Splashtop’s remote support product for IT teams and help desks. It covers unattended access to managed computers and attended, on-demand support through a session code. It is licensed per concurrent technician. For each technician licence the customer may register up to 10 users, and any one of them may run sessions from one device at a time.[1] Each licence also carries an allowance of managed computers, the unattended endpoints with the Splashtop Streamer installed.[2] The Terms of Service add that the Remote Support licence is for technicians and IT personnel, and that the number of computers is limited by the package subscribed.[3] Two related products use different units. Autonomous Endpoint Management (AEM) is licensed per endpoint.[6] Splashtop On-Prem is licensed through activated licences that set user, concurrency and Streamer limits.[8] For the general model, see concurrent and device licensing.

Counting / floors
Technicians. With two licences, two of up to 20 registered users can work at the same time, each from one device.[1] Catalog: Each Remote Support licence: up to 10 users, one device at a time. The Enterprise page gives the scaling example: two Remote Support licences allow two concurrent technicians (and 20 named ones) to access up to 600 computers.[7] From a computer, a technician can open sessions to up to 10 computers and devices at once. From the mobile or Chrome app, the limit is one.[1] Up to three technicians can join the same support session, which requires a multi-licence subscription.[1][10]
Managed computers. On the 300-computer option, one licence covers 300 managed computers, two cover 600, three cover 900, and four or more cover 1,200. Above 1,200 managed devices, Remote Support Enterprise is needed.[2] Catalog: Managed computers scale per licence up to 1,200. Attended support through a 9-digit session code reaches an unlimited number of computers and mobile devices, and needs no pre-installed agent.[2][11] Only Streamer installs are limited by the subscription. The Business App used by technicians may be installed on any number of devices.[11]
Licence types. In Splashtop Enterprise and combined subscriptions, each user holds one licence type. The Remote Support (Technician) type is required for attended access, one-to-many scripts and remote command.[4] Catalog: A user holds only one licence type; Attended access and scripts require a Remote Support licence type. When more technician licences are assigned than were bought, the console shows a warning. Splashtop’s instruction is to move users who do not need technician rights to the Remote Access type, or to disable them.[4]
SOS lite. Remote Support Plus, Premium and AEM include SOS lite. With it, one owner or admin can hold a single attended session to one PC or Mac at a time, without mobile devices, custom branding or reboot-and-reconnect. If an owner or admin is also listed as an SOS technician, using SOS consumes the full SOS licence; the two do not stack.[5] Catalog: SOS lite: one admin, one session at a time; does not stack with SOS.
Secondary users. Remote Support Basic, Plus and AEM do not include secondary user access, and Premium includes it only in limited form.[3] Catalog: Remote Support computers limited by package; for technicians and IT personnel. End users who need to reach their own computers need Remote Access licences, which are licensed per named user.[6]
Autonomous Endpoint Management
AEM is priced in volume tiers of endpoints, with monthly or annual billing. The minimum purchase is 100 endpoints, and an organization with fewer devices still buys the 100-endpoint base level.[6] Catalog: AEM minimum 100 endpoints; one technician per 10 endpoints. One technician licence is provisioned for every 10 endpoints, and further technicians are arranged through sales. AEM includes remote control of managed Windows, Mac and Linux devices.
AEM add-ons use their own units:
- on-demand support and augmented reality support are licensed by concurrent technicians;
- end-user remote access is licensed by named users;
- endpoint security options are licensed by endpoints;
- AEM Enterprise is licensed by number of endpoints.[6]
AEM’s Software Patch feature uses Chocolatey (Windows) and Homebrew (macOS), and their own terms and rate limits apply.[3]
Virtualization & partitioning
Remote Support counts technicians and Streamer computers. It has no core or host rules, so a virtual machine with the Streamer counts as one managed computer.[2] Splashtop On-Prem is different, because the customer runs the Splashtop Gateway itself. The Gateway’s web portal and service work only once at least one authorized licence, trial or paid, has been activated.[8] Catalog: On-Prem Gateway works only with an activated licence.
Each On-Prem licence has a validity date range and a privilege set in three parts: general, unattended and attended (SOS). The limits include:
- maximum unattended users;
- maximum unattended concurrent users;
- maximum unattended Streamers;
- maximum attended users and attended concurrent users;
- system-wide and per-Streamer session limits.
Even when Max Remote Session is set to unlimited, the concurrent-user limits still apply.[8] Catalog: On-Prem concurrent-user limits apply even with unlimited sessions. Several licences with different validity periods and privilege sets can be applied to one system.[8] Catalog: On-Prem multi-licensing.
The owner activates licences online, with the “Authorized to” value and licence key from Splashtop Sales; this needs outbound access to license.splashtop.com on port 443. Offline activation works by sending an activation ID file to Splashtop and importing the activation file it returns.[9] Catalog: On-Prem offline activation via activation ID file.
Cloud / BYOL
SOS, cloud Enterprise and AEM run in Splashtop’s cloud. Splashtop Enterprise and Remote Support Enterprise are also offered on premises.[2] The Global Terms of Service cover accounts on the Global service region; accounts on the EU region use separate EU Terms of Service.[3] No BYOL or marketplace terms were found.
