Splashtop licensing is the set of terms under which Splashtop sells its remote access, remote support, endpoint management, classroom and screen-mirroring software. One online agreement, the Splashtop Terms of Service, covers the cloud Services, the Software and an embedded end user licence agreement (EULA). It applies to Splashtop Personal, the Splashtop Business Products (Remote Access, Remote Support, SRS Premium and Splashtop Enterprise), Splashtop Classroom, Splashtop On-Prem, the Mirroring360 products, Splashtop Secure Workspace, Splashtop Vault and Foxpass.[1] Customers in the Global service region contract with Splashtop Inc. under California law. Customers in the EU service region use separate EU Terms of Service with Splashtop B.V. of Amsterdam, under Dutch law.[1][2] Purchases are governed by the Terms of Sale.[3] Splashtop sells subscriptions only and publishes list prices.[4] For the general models, see named user licensing and concurrent and device licensing.

Counting / floors
The Terms of Service list Use Limitations for each product:[1]
- Splashtop Personal: no more than five logged-in Streamers; non-commercial use only.
- Business Access: 2 computers per user seat licence on Solo, and 10 per seat on Pro and Performance. The number of users is limited by the number of seat licences.
- Remote Support: the number of computers is limited by the package. The licence is for technicians and IT personnel.
- Splashtop Enterprise (Cloud): limits on technicians, users, computers and concurrency follow the plan.
- Classroom: no more than ten logged-in Streamers.
- Mirroring360: deployments limited by the number of licences.
- Foxpass: user subscriptions for designated users, which may be reassigned to replacement users.
Catalog: Business Access: 2 computers per Solo seat, 10 per Pro or Performance seat; Remote Support computers limited by package; for technicians and IT personnel; Splashtop Enterprise limits follow the subscribed plan; Classroom limited to ten logged-in Streamers; Foxpass user subscriptions are for designated users and may be reassigned. Splashtop may “grandfather” customers into the use limitations under which they first subscribed.[1] Catalog: Splashtop may grandfather earlier use limitations. An older account may therefore have different limits from the current plan descriptions.
Floors. Each subscription needs at least one licence. AEM has a minimum purchase of 100 endpoints.[10] Catalog: AEM minimum 100 endpoints; one technician per 10 endpoints.
Commercial use. Business Products, Classroom, On-Prem and Mirroring360 are licensed for commercial use. Splashtop Personal is for non-commercial use only.[1] Catalog: Splashtop Personal is for non-commercial use only.
Virtualization & partitioning
Splashtop licences count people (named users or concurrent technicians) and the computers that run the Streamer agent. They do not count processors, cores or virtual hosts. A virtual desktop with a Streamer counts as one computer in the same way as a physical one. The Terms of Service contain no separate virtualization rule.[1] Splashtop On-Prem gateways can be deployed in load-balanced, high-availability clusters.[13]
Cloud / BYOL
Splashtop runs the cloud service in separate regional stacks. Account data on the Global stack is stored in the United States, on the EU stack in Germany and on the OC stack in Australia. An email address can belong to only one stack, and moving an account between stacks requires deleting it and creating a new one.[7] For customers that cannot use the cloud, Splashtop Enterprise and Remote Support are also offered on premises.[4] Splashtop On-Prem is licensed by activating licences on the customer’s Splashtop Gateway.[11] No cloud marketplace or BYOL terms were found on splashtop.com.
Programs
- Auto-renewal subscription. Online subscriptions renew automatically until auto-renewal is turned off, and the product stays usable until the end of the paid period.[3][1] Catalog: Online subscriptions stay usable to the end of the period after auto-renewal is turned off.
- Trials. Trials and promotional offers are limited to one per customer and cannot be combined.[1] Catalog: One trial or promotional offer per customer.
- Grandfathered use limitations for legacy plans, described above.
- On-Prem multi-licensing: several licences with different validity periods on one gateway.[11]
Contract terms
Grant and restrictions. The EULA grants a non-transferable, non-sublicensable, non-exclusive licence.[1] Catalog: Licence is non-transferable and non-sublicensable. The customer may not resell, rent, lease or lend the Software, or use it for time sharing, service bureau use or for the benefit of anyone other than itself.[1] Catalog: No resale, service bureau or use for the benefit of others. Direct competitors may not use the Services, and the Services may not be used for benchmarking or competitive analysis.[1] Catalog: No use by competitors or for benchmarking. The customer may not assign the Terms.[1] Catalog: Customer may not assign the Terms.
Renewal and notice. Subscriptions bought through Splashtop sales staff renew automatically. To stop renewal, the customer must send written notice at least 30 days before the renewal date. Quantity or service-level reductions also need 30 days’ written notice; otherwise the existing quantities renew unchanged. Notices of non-renewal or reduction go to Splashtop’s sales address.[1] Catalog: Sales-led subscriptions need 30 days notice to cancel or reduce. Splashtop may raise fees with prior notice, and the new fees apply at the next renewal unless the customer cancels.[1] Catalog: Fee increases notified in advance and apply at next renewal.
Refunds and changes. Purchases are prepaid, final and non-refundable. There are no refunds or credits for partly used periods or early cancellation.[3][8] Catalog: Purchases are prepaid, final and non-refundable. Upgrades apply immediately and are charged pro rata to the existing end date. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle.[9] Catalog: Upgrades are prorated immediately; downgrades apply next cycle.
Pricing location. Prices may vary by location. The purchase location should match where the user resides and where the Services are mainly used. If the wrong pricing was applied, standard prices become payable within 30 days of notice.[1] Catalog: Pricing by location; mis-priced purchases repriced.
Termination. When the Terms end, all licence rights end automatically. The customer must stop using the Services and destroy the Software and Documentation.[1] Catalog: On termination stop use and destroy the Software. Purchases through resellers follow the reseller’s terms of sale.[3] Catalog: Reseller purchases follow the reseller terms of sale.
Audits and compliance
The Terms of Service contain no audit clause. Compliance is enforced inside the service:
- The Streamer refuses to add a computer once the plan’s computer limit is reached.[12]
- The web console warns when more licences of a type are assigned than were bought.
- Only one Streamer, and so only one team, can be bound to a computer.
- For Foxpass, Splashtop may suspend accounts or require extra seats to correct overage.[1][6]
The Splashtop web console (users, computers and subscription pages) is therefore the main record for a licence position. See license compliance.
