- Definition
- EULA s.3: software is either "bundled with a specific storage controller identified by a unique serial number (“Controller-based”)" or independent of a controller ("Standalone"). "Life-of-controller" licences are Controller-based licences granted for the period during which the controller is operable.
- Counting rules
- Each controller in a cluster, HA pair or group must carry the same Controller-based licences; failover between controllers with different licences is allowed only with NetApp's written agreement and for the time needed to remedy a failure. Controller-based licences may not be moved to another controller or installed on third-party, second-hand or grey-market hardware without written consent.
- Floors / minimums
- One licence set per controller; all controllers in a cluster or HA pair alike.
- Applies to products
- ONTAP software suites (ONTAP One, ONTAP Base, ONTAP One for SAN) on AFF, ASA and FAS
- Other NetApp software embedded in or pre-installed on NetApp Hardware
