A Figma AI credit is the unit Figma uses to meter Figma AI, which covers Figma Make, AI image editing and AI-powered workflows across the platform.[2] The Figma AI Terms, effective 2026-06-24, govern credits. They are incorporated into both the Terms of Service and the Software Services Agreement. Where they conflict with those contracts, the AI Terms prevail.[1] There are three sources of credits. Seat credits come with every seat and belong to the individual user. The AI Credits Subscription is a prepaid pool shared across the team or organization. Pay-as-you-go (PAYG) bills extra credits as they are used.[1] Figma’s model differs from pooled schemes such as Miro’s: included credits are personal and cannot be moved between users. Catalog proof: Seat AI credits are personal and do not roll over.

For ongoing everyday use, it points customers to a credit subscription or PAYG.[2] Education users get 3,000 credits a month per person; to get more they must wait for the reset or move to a paid plan, which can buy additional credits.[8] Credits “don’t combine or stack” across plans. A user on several plans has a separate allowance on each.[2] Catalog proof: Seat AI credit allowance by plan and seat.
Figma AI image, text and workflow tools are available on paid plans only.[2] Under the Terms of Service, Figma AI may be used only by people aged 18 or older.[9]
Add-ons
| Add-on | Professional | Organization and Enterprise |
|---|---|---|
| AI Credits Subscription | Monthly, auto-renewing, even on an annual plan; prorated to month end | Annual, aligned with the plan term; billed annually in advance; added mid-term prorated and invoiced quarterly |
| Pay-as-you-go | Billed monthly in arrears | Billed quarterly in arrears |
Source: Figma AI Terms §6.2 and §6.3.[1] Subscription credits refresh monthly. “The price per credit decreases as more credits are purchased.”[3] On Organization and Enterprise, the subscription can be upgraded at any time. It can be downgraded or cancelled only in the 30-day window before renewal. Under a custom order form it becomes part of contracted annual spend and may need a new order form to change.[3] PAYG runs up to an admin-set monthly spending limit at the rate in effect at enrolment. Figma must give at least 30 days’ notice of PAYG price changes.[1] Catalog proof: Organization and Enterprise AI credit subscriptions are annual; Pay-as-you-go AI credits are billed in arrears.
From 2026-08-25, existing subscriptions and PAYG give more credits for the same cost: twice as many on Professional and 1.6 times as many on Organization and Enterprise. Seat credits did not change.[4] Catalog proof: AI credit add-ons gave more credits from 2026-08-25.
Metrics
The AI credit is consumed per AI action. Image features have fixed costs. Agentic features such as Figma Make vary with the model, the complexity of the task and the context supplied.[2]
| AI feature | Credits per use |
|---|---|
| AI search, rename layers, FigJam summarize, cluster and update visual | Free |
| Generate FigJam templates and diagrams | 2 to 24 per prompt |
| Remove background | 1 to 5 per image |
| Vectorize image | 2 to 5 per image |
| Boost resolution, erase, isolate or expand image | 5 to 10 per image |
| Make or edit image | 2 to 16 per image, by model |
| Add interactions | 20 per use |
| Figma Make, Slides generated in ChatGPT | Varies (for example about 100 or more to generate an app) |
Source: How Figma AI credits work. Figma gives these as the rates “as of August 25, 2026”.[2] Undoing an AI action does not refund credits. Error-correction actions such as Auto fix do not consume credits.[2] The agent in Figma Design and the Weave tools were free during open beta. They start consuming credits on general availability, scheduled for 2026-10-06.[4]
Counting / floors
Consumption order. “Unless stated otherwise”, credits are consumed from the user’s seat credits first, then from the AI Credits Subscription pool, then from PAYG.[1] “Credits that are included with a seat are personal to the Authorized User, while Credits from the AI Credits Subscription are pooled across Customer’s organization or team and PAYG usage may be incurred by any Authorized User.”[1] The customer “is responsible for all Credits consumed by its Authorized Users under PAYG”.[1] Catalog proof: Credits are consumed seat first, then subscription, then pay-as-you-go.
Running out. A user with no credits cannot complete further AI actions. They can request more, and the request notifies the admin.[2] Starter and View users who hit the daily limit can continue the next day.[2]
Per-user limits. Admins give each person full access to paid credits, a custom monthly limit, or no access. Every user starts with full access. Individual, billing-group and plan-level limits “apply independently”, and whichever runs out first blocks the user.[5] Catalog proof: Admins can limit paid AI credits per user.
Billing groups. On Enterprise, organization admins can set aside plan-level credits (subscription and PAYG) for billing groups. Seat credits cannot be reallocated this way. A credit subscription or PAYG must be in place before credits can be set aside.[6]
No cash value. Credits “do not represent legal tender, currency, or stored value”. They cannot be redeemed, exchanged or transferred, and they expire monthly. A refund for an AI Credits Subscription is “solely based on the time remaining in the subscription term, and not on the number of unused Credits”.[1] Promotional credits given free of charge are Early Access Features. These are provided AS IS under the Product-Specific Terms.[1][10] Catalog proof: AI credits expire monthly and have no monetary value.
Virtualization & partitioning
Not applicable. Seat credits follow the person, and pooled credits follow the plan or billing group.
Cloud / BYOL
Not applicable. Figma AI runs inside Figma’s service. The AI Terms do not apply to the standalone Figma Weave platform.[1]
Programs
Ownership and training
Input and Output “are Customer Content”. As between the parties, the customer keeps all rights in its Input and Output.[1] Figma may use Customer Content to train AI models only when the “Content Training” setting is on in the customer’s admin settings. Turning it off excludes new content and edits made after that date.[1] Figma gives no warranty on the accuracy of Output, and the customer must review it.[1] Catalog proof: Customer owns AI Input and Output; training only with Content Training on.
