Figma, Inc. makes the browser-based Figma Design interface design tool and related products such as Dev Mode, FigJam, Figma Slides and Figma Make. It is sold as a per-seat subscription on Professional, Organization and Enterprise plans, with a free Starter plan.

  1. Figma offers four plans: a free Starter plan with limited access, and paid Professional, Organization and Enterprise plans; Organization and Enterprise are billed annually.[1]

  2. Paid plans are priced per seat by seat type (Full, Dev and Collab seats), with each seat including a monthly allowance of AI credits.[2]

  3. On a paid plan, others can be allowed to view and comment on files without purchasing extra seats.[3]

  4. Additional AI credits can be bought for a whole team to share, either pay-as-you-go or by subscription.[4]

  5. Professional plan subscriptions can be monthly or annual; seat subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current rate and the seat quantity in the account on the renewal date, and seats added mid-term are prorated daily.[5]

  6. Figma for Education gives free access to eligible students and educators for classroom use.[6]

    Adobe agreed in 2022 to acquire Figma, a web-based collaborative design platform, but the deal was not completed. The UK Competition and Markets Authority provisionally found competition concerns in November 2023 and cancelled its inquiry on 18 December 2023.

    Licensing impact
    • Adobe stated at announcement that it planned to combine its imaging, video, 3D and font technologies with Figma's web-based collaborative design platform to strengthen Creative Cloud, with the deal expected to close in 2023 subject to regulatory approval.[1]
    • On 13 July 2023 the CMA referred the anticipated acquisition for an in-depth investigation, and on 28 November 2023 it provisionally found competition concerns in the UK digital design sector.[2]
    • On 18 December 2023 the CMA cancelled its merger inquiry. No licence, SKU or contract changes arose for Figma or Adobe customers from this transaction because it did not complete.[2]
