Falcon Flex is a CrowdStrike licensing model for the Falcon platform. CrowdStrike describes it as a flexible licensing agreement customized to each organization, in which a pre-negotiated commitment can be drawn down over time and even applied to new releases.[1] A traditional contract licenses a fixed number of named products. Under Flex, the balance can instead be used to expand access to additional CrowdStrike offerings during the term, including newly released modules and services, without a new procurement cycle for each purchase.[2] CrowdStrike also sells a services variant, Flex for Services, and a public-sector variant, Falcon Flex for U.S. Government.[3][4] Flex belongs to the committed-spend family described in subscription and consumption licensing.

Metrics
Falcon Flex is a commercial wrapper, not a license metric. Modules activated under Flex are still measured in their own metrics. Examples are the Endpoint for sensor-based modules, the Active identity for identity protection and Data ingestion volume for Next-Gen SIEM. Every CrowdStrike Order states the Offering quantity in CrowdStrike’s applicable license metrics.[8] CrowdStrike has not published how the monetary commitment converts into metric quantities, so a Flex customer’s entitlements have to be read from its Flex agreement and the activation records behind it. Flex for Services is measured in service hours.[3]
Counting / floors
Draw-down (as retrieved 2026-09-26). Customers can draw down their balance at any time to react to new security challenges.[2] They can activate additional capabilities within their existing commitment, which reduces the need for repeated procurement cycles or legal reviews for out-of-cycle purchases.[2] The data sheet frames this as “mission-driven activation rather than fixed entitlements”.[2] Catalog proof: Falcon Flex: commitment drawn down over time; modules swappable.
Module swaps. Discounts and renewal rates. CrowdStrike states that Flex gives “significantly better value than standard volume pricing”. Larger discounts go with larger pre-negotiated commitments, and customers unlock greater economic value by making multi-year commitments that are drawn down over time.[2] Customers can also lock in renewal rates.[2] No minimum commitment, rate card or discount schedule is published.
Floors. CrowdStrike publishes no minimum commitment for Falcon Flex. Flex for Services is limited to new CrowdStrike customers with more than 10,000 endpoints (services only), including eligible net-new Falcon Flex customers with no existing CrowdStrike Services relationship.[3]
Relationship to fixed-quantity Orders
The Flex data sheet contrasts Flex with traditional contracts that require a multi-year commitment with licensing for a fixed number of products. It notes that such contracts remain an option but may not offer flexibility when a new need arises soon after purchase.[2] Under the standard CrowdStrike Terms and Conditions, the licence is limited to the quantity in the applicable Order, and Orders are non-cancellable.[8] A customer who needs an unplanned module under a fixed-quantity contract must therefore place a new Order. Commentary: tracking a Flex position
For an effective license position, a Flex agreement replaces a list of fixed product entitlements with a monetary balance. The balance is consumed as modules are activated. Because swaps and new releases can change the module mix during the term, the position depends on three things: the commitment value and draw-down records in the agreement; the metric quantities active for each module (Endpoints, active identities, ingest capacity); and the dates of any swaps. The public documents do not say whether unused balance carries over at renewal. That should be checked in the agreement.
Virtualization & partitioning
Flex adds no virtualization rules of its own. Modules activated under Flex keep their standard counting rules. For sensor-based modules this includes the Terms’ definition of Endpoint as any physical or virtual device, including containers and virtual machine images.[8] Catalog proof: Endpoint includes virtual machines, containers and VM images.
Cloud / BYOL
Not applicable. Flex funds subscriptions to CrowdStrike’s cloud-delivered Products. Flex for Services applies the Flex model to CrowdStrike’s expert-led services.[3] The data sheet published on 2026-09-26 sets out these terms:
- a standalone 12-month term with no upfront initiation cost;
- 160 hours of incident response and 40 hours of proactive services;
- a 6-hour committed incident response time (remote);
- overage hours billed at the contract rate;
- renewal only in conjunction with a multi-year Falcon Flex agreement for Falcon modules.[3]

Falcon Flex for U.S. Government
