Box plans are the subscription tiers in which Box sells its cloud content management service. Under the Terms of Service, a customer receives “only … the features and functionality that are included in the specific subscription plan that you have purchased as identified on the Box website”.[8] The pricing pages are therefore part of the entitlement. They set the storage, file size, collaborator, API and AI limits that a licence manager has to track.[1][2] Catalog proof: Every user needs a Box account licence.

Sources: Businesses pricing page and plan comparison.[1] Included AI Units are confirmed in Box’s AI Units article.[7] Box shows prices in the visitor’s local currency, and the euro figures were displayed on 2026-10-03. The pricing page offers a “Monthly” and an “Annually Save 25%” option, and the annual figures above are the per-month price billed annually.[1]
Other differences in the comparison table:[1]
- Enterprise app integrations. 1 on Business, 10 on Business Plus, unlimited from Enterprise.
- Two-factor authentication. User opt-in on Business and Business Plus; an organization setting from Enterprise.
- Security. Enterprise “Includes native security classifications and classification-based access policies as well as threat detection rules and alerts”. On lower plans these come through the Box Shield add-on.
- Compliance. FedRAMP Moderate from Enterprise; FedRAMP High and GxP (21 CFR Part 11) compliance at additional cost.
- Support. Standard business support; optional Premier Support; enhanced 24-hour support on Enterprise Plus.
- Box Sign requests through third-party or custom integrations, per year. 100, 150 and 250 on the first three business plans; unlimited third-party requests with 1,000 or 2,000 custom requests on Enterprise Plus and Enterprise Advanced.
Enterprise Advanced adds Box Apps, AI Studio and custom agents, Box Forms, document generation, extract agents, “Large file uploads up to 500GB” and “Compliant long-term data preservation with Box Archive”.[1] Box raised the maximum file size “from 150 GB to 500 GB” with the launch of that plan.[6] Catalog proof: Large file uploads up to 500 GB are an Enterprise Advanced feature.
Metrics
All plans are licensed per user account. The plans differ in how they treat external collaborators. “If you have a Starter or Business account, seats refer to both internal and external users.”[5] External users “do not require you to purchase Box Service account licenses”, but on Starter and Business “external user accounts in excess of your permitted number of collaborators will contribute to your purchased user seat count”.[4] On Business Plus, Enterprise, Enterprise Plus and Enterprise Advanced, “seats refer to internal users only and you have unlimited external collaborators”.[5] People who receive only a shared link are not collaborators.[5] Catalog proof: External collaborators count as seats on Starter and Business.
The consumable metrics are API Calls and AI Units, counted per organization per month. They are covered in Box AI Units, Platform and add-ons.
Counting / floors
Three-user minimum. Every business plan card reads “per user/month minimum of 3 users”, and the comparison table lists a minimum of 3 and an unlimited maximum.[1] Catalog proof: Business plans require at least three users.
Business Starter ceiling. Business Starter is for up to 10 users, so an eleventh user means moving to Business or higher.[2]
Storage on lower plans. Individual plans cannot buy more storage. Box’s FAQ says that on an Individual plan you can “free up space by deleting unused files and folders” or choose an upgraded plan.[2]
Bandwidth. The Fair Use Policy limits each user to 1 TB of bandwidth per month. Customers with several licensed users get a pooled limit of 1 TB per purchased user account licence. Shared-link downloads are limited per file: “10 GB per file per month for Individual, Personal Pro and Starter plans” and 2 TB per file on all other plans.[3] Catalog proof: Bandwidth is pooled at 1 TB per licence per month.
No API on entry plans. API Calls to or from non-Box applications are not available on Individual, Personal Pro and Starter. Without an API allocation, a customer “may not use any API Calls nor integrate your Box account with any third-party application”.[3] Catalog proof: Plans without an API allocation may not integrate.
Virtualization & partitioning
Not applicable. Box plans are counted on user accounts and on organization-wide consumables, not on infrastructure.[8]
Cloud / BYOL
Not applicable; Box is a SaaS service. Data residency outside the United States needs the Box Zones add-on, which is optional on the business plans.[1]
Programs
Changing plans. On the Monthly Subscription Plan a customer can switch to annual billing at any time. On the Annual Subscription Plan it may not “cancel, reduce the number of seats, or downgrade” until the anniversary date, and may not switch to monthly billing during the year.[8] Upgrades and added seats can be bought in the app from the account and billing settings. For Starter and Business accounts with many external collaborators, Box suggests upgrading to Business Plus or Enterprise for unlimited external collaborators.[5] Catalog proof: Annual plans cannot be reduced or downgraded mid-term.
Downgrading from Enterprise Advanced. Box Archive is an Enterprise Advanced feature. After a downgrade, including at the end of a trial or beta, archived “files and folders … become orphaned and inaccessible to your business’s Box admins”. Box advises restoring archived content before downgrading; otherwise Box Support migrates it out and removes the archive storage.[9] Catalog proof: Downgrading from Enterprise Advanced orphans Box Archive content.
Out of scope
- Prices in other currencies and any volume discounts, which Box does not publish.
- Features not listed in the plan comparison, and limits set only in negotiated Order Forms.
