Boomi licensing covers the subscription and usage rules under which Boomi, LP sells the Boomi Enterprise Platform: Integration (the iPaaS formerly branded AtomSphere), B2B/EDI management, API Management, Event Streams, Flow, Data Hub, Data Integration, Managed File Transfer, Connect and the AI Platform with Agentstudio. The contract is the Boomi Master Services Agreement (MSA) for direct customers or the End User License Agreement (EULA) for customers who buy through a partner, supplemented by Product Specific Terms and a Service Description.[1][2][3] The licence grant covers “the quantities of the Boomi Services identified in the applicable Order”, for internal business operations and for the term on the Order.[1]
For a software asset manager the important point is that Boomi uses several different metrics. The core Integration product is sold by edition with a pool of connection licences, counted when processes are deployed.[6][7] The other products are metered by volume: messages, golden records, API calls, tool calls or credits. Some are converted into a common Boomi Platform Message under the AI Platform pricing model.[10]
Editions
Boomi’s pricing page offers three routes: annual subscription plans by capability, a monthly Pay-As-You-Go plan, and a 30-day free trial.[5] The FAQ on that page states that “Plans are available on an annual subscription basis” and that Pay-As-You-Go is monthly.[5] The Service Description bills subscriptions annually and up front.[4]

The Integration editions add features and included connectors as they go up. Base includes two production Standard connectors and production environments only. Enterprise Plus includes 15 production and 30 test Standard connectors, 2 production and 4 test Enterprise connectors, and two runtime clusters.[6] Editions, connector classes and runtimes are covered in Boomi Integration editions and connection licensing.
Boomi publishes no price list for subscription editions. The Pay-As-You-Go documentation contrasts its own public pricing with existing editions, for which “Pricing information is not publicly available”.[9]

The account’s Licensing & Usage dashboard shows usage against each active plan. It separates account plans such as AI Platform, One Platform and Full Consumption from product plans such as Flow, Event Streams, Data Hub, Connect and API Management.[8] For Integration plans the dashboard compares purchased and deployed connectors by class.[8]
Counting / floors
Connection licences are counted at deployment. The general rule is “one license per unique connection per runtime”, where a unique connection is identified by its component ID.[7] A connection reused in fifty processes counts once. A copied connection with a new component ID counts again. A process deployed to an environment with two basic runtimes uses twice the licences.[7] If the account lacks licences, the deployment does not finish.[7]
Boomi-hosted public runtime clouds add a volume allowance. Platform fees include up to 1 GB of data processed per Boomi Runtime per month. Each further GB or part of a GB is invoiced at USD 117.[4]
Consumption products set annual capacity. Under the Product Specific Terms, Boomi AI, Data Integration and MFT capacity not used in a Subscription Year lapses. Usage above a tier may be invoiced at the next tier, pro rata.[3] Event Streams and Connect keep working above their annual quota, and Boomi contacts the account administrator about a higher tier.[11][12] These models are compared in Boomi consumption metering and message tiers.
The MSA makes the customer “responsible for monitoring its consumption of the Boomi Services” and lets Boomi “conduct usage analysis at any time”.[1] If the analysis shows use above the Order, including use after an Order has ended, Boomi issues an Order for the difference at its then-current rates, due immediately.[1]
Virtualization & partitioning
Boomi does not license by processor, core or virtual machine. Integration processes run on a runtime, either in a Boomi-hosted runtime cloud (Public, Dedicated or Managed Cloud service) or on a customer-hosted runtime. Customer-hosted runtimes are the basic runtime, the runtime cluster and the runtime cloud, formerly called Atom, Molecule and Atom Cloud.[14] The runtime matters for licensing because connection licences are counted per runtime. A runtime cluster counts once however many nodes it has, while two separate basic runtimes count twice.[7]
Cloud / BYOL
The platform is software as a service, and the Service Description lets elements of it “be hosted by Boomi in a public runtime cloud or downloaded and installed behind your firewall”.[4] Local runtimes can run on a public cloud provider or on premises under the same subscription.[14] Volume charges apply only to Boomi public runtime clouds, and “Local runtimes are not counted in volume usage.”[7] No separate bring-your-own-licence programme is documented.
Programs
- Evaluation Right: free trials and proofs of concept are for 30 days of non-production evaluation, provided as is and without support.[1]
- Order Renewal Term: unless the Order says otherwise, Orders renew automatically for three years unless notice is given 90 days before the end of the term.[1]
- Authorized Partner purchase: customers buying through a reseller accept the EULA, under which Boomi can enforce the terms directly and suspend service if it is not paid.[2]
- Support levels and Customer Care packages: Standard, Premier and Premier Plus support under the Service Description,[4] or Basic, Enhanced/Expert, Advocate and Side-by-Side under the Customer Care Service Description.[15]
- Event Streams Starter Tier and Connect Base Tier: free entry tiers for existing customers, capped at 120,000 messages per year and 25,000 tool calls per month respectively.[11][12]
The contract terms are summarised in Boomi Master Services Agreement and terms.
Out of scope
This article does not cover Boomi’s professional services, training or certification, which are bought under Services Orders and the Professional Services Addendum.[1] It also does not cover third-party products resold by Boomi, which the Product Specific Terms place under each maker’s own terms.[3] API Management capacity tiers and Data Hub record tiers are described only at the level the pricing page gives, because Boomi publishes no per-tier quantities for them.[5]
