This article covers the way Vercel customers manage and commit spend. It concerns the Spend Management feature, which applies to Pro teams and to Enterprise teams on the Flexible Commitment plan, the Enterprise plan and its contract terms, and the Flexible Commitment, a prepaid balance valued at $1.00 per unit that draws down against Vercel products.[1][2] These constructs determine whether a Vercel invoice can exceed expectations, and what happens operationally when it does.

Enterprise plan
Vercel describes the Enterprise plan as for organisations needing high performance, advanced security and dedicated support.[3] It includes the features of Pro with custom limits, isolated build infrastructure, SSO and SAML, Directory Sync, Audit Logs, Audit Log Drains, Access Groups, role-based access control, a dedicated Success Manager, SLAs and Vercel Firewall capabilities such as dedicated DDoS support and WAF managed rulesets.[3] Secure Compute is a paid add-on for Enterprise.[3]
Several capabilities that cost extra on Pro are included on Enterprise: Password Protection is included for every project at the team level, and Trusted IPs and Only Production Deployments are included.[4] Contributor and project-level roles exist only on Enterprise.[5] Enterprise also has its own Enterprise Viewer role, with read-only access to the team’s resources and operational data that the Pro Viewer cannot see.[5] The Billing role can be assigned to multiple members on Enterprise, whereas Pro limits it to one.[5]
Enterprise customers who contract for Enhanced build machines always use them by default and change the setting through their account manager.[6] Enterprise teams request the HIPAA business associate agreement from Vercel sales instead of buying a Pro add-on.[7] Catalog: Enterprise plan; Contributor and project roles require Enterprise.
Flexible Commitment
Under the Enterprise Flexible Commitment plan, “Flexible Commitment is a prepaid balance you can use across Vercel products. Each unit is valued at $1.00 USD.”[2] Products and seats can be added throughout the year without amendments, and usage draws directly from the balance.[2] Regional resources are priced per unit; the documentation lists, for the iad1 region, Fast Data Transfer at $0.15 per GB, CDN Requests at $2.00 per million, Fast Origin Transfer at $0.06 per GB, Fluid Active CPU at $0.128 per hour, Fluid Provisioned Memory at $0.0106 per GB-hour, Image Optimization transformations at $0.05 per 1,000 and Blob storage at $0.023 per GB.[2] Catalog: Enterprise Flexible Commitment; Flexible Commitment; Flexible Commitment is a prepaid balance at $1.00 per unit.
The Flexible Commitment is not the only Enterprise structure. The Enterprise Terms contemplate an Order Form that states Service Capacity, and Vercel’s AI Product Terms refer to “pre-committed Managed Infrastructure Units (MIUs)” as a payment method for platform fees that cannot be used to pay for AI Products and Services.[8][9] The public documentation does not define an MIU further, so the unit definition belongs to the contract.
Metrics
Seats and usage are the two quantities that drive an Enterprise invoice, but neither is defined in the public Enterprise Terms. The licence is “based on the service capacity set forth in the applicable Order Form”, and Documentation defines how features are used.[8] Under Flexible Commitment, products and seats can be added during the term without amendments.[2]
Because usage draws down a balance, the metered resources in Vercel usage-based resources and Flat Rate CDN carry over, at Enterprise rates.[2] Enterprise accounts created before February 18, 2025 could opt in to the transformation-based Image Optimization model or remain on legacy source-image pricing until contract expiry.[10]
Counting and floors
Contract mechanics under the Enterprise Terms
| Topic | Provision |
|---|---|
| Licence | Non-sublicensable, nonexclusive, nontransferable, limited licence for internal business purposes by Service Capacity on the Order Form[8] |
| Fees | Subscription fees and Service Capacity paid annually in advance; Service Capacity increases by new Order Form, pro-rated, renewing with the current subscription[8] |
| Overage | Fees for usage in excess of Service Capacity paid in arrears within 30 days of the invoice date[8] |
| Late payment | 1.5% per month finance charge on outstanding balances and possible immediate suspension on written notice[8] |
| Renewal | Automatic for successive terms equal to the initial term unless either party gives written notice at least 60 calendar days before expiry[8] |
| Overuse termination | Vercel may terminate on 15 days written notice if Service Capacity is exceeded and not paid for[8] |
| Feature changes | Vercel may sunset or replace a feature if it provides a substantially similar feature for the remainder of the term, otherwise a credit for unused prepaid fees[8] |
| Price changes | Not effective until the start of the next Order Form or Statement of Work[8] |
Catalog: Enterprise licence is by Order Form Service Capacity; Enterprise subscription fees are paid annually in advance; Exceeding Service Capacity unpaid allows termination on 15 days notice.
Under the Enterprise Terms the customer may not “sublicense, resell, rent, lease, transfer, assign” the Services or make them available to a third party.[8] An agency or platform provider reselling Vercel capacity should treat this clause as a negotiation item.
Virtualization and partitioning
Not applicable. Vercel offers dedicated capabilities such as isolated build infrastructure and Secure Compute, but no sub-capacity or partitioning rules appear in the public terms.[3]
Cloud and BYOL
No bring-your-own-licence rights apply. Marketplace and AI provider charges are separate: AI Products and Services fees are charged to a valid credit card even for Enterprise or reseller customers, and cannot be paid from committed units.[9] See Vercel AI products licensing.
Programs
Spend Management
Spend Management is “a way for you to notify or to automatically take action on your account when your team hits a set spend amount”.[1] It is “available at no additional cost” to Pro teams and to Enterprise teams on the Flexible Commitment plan.[1] The amount, shown as On-Demand Budget in billing settings, is set per billing cycle and requires the Owner or Billing role to configure.[1]
| Aspect | Rule |
|---|---|
| What counts | Pro: metered usage beyond the monthly credit. Enterprise Flexible Commitment: metered usage that draws from the prepaid balance[1] |
| What does not count | Seats, integrations such as Marketplace, and separate add-ons, which are charged monthly[1] |
| Notifications | Web and email at 50%, 75% and 100% of the spend amount; SMS at 100%[1] |
| Webhook | HTTPS POST with budget, current spend, team ID and threshold percent; for budgets created before September 2025 only at 100%[1] |
| Pausing | Optional “Pause Production Deployments” pauses production deployments of all projects; visitors see a 503 DEPLOYMENT_PAUSED error[1] |
| Resuming | Each project must be resumed individually; increasing the amount does not unpause[1] |
| Check frequency | Every few minutes, so actions can trigger several minutes late[1] |
The documentation is explicit that “Setting a spend amount does not stop usage on its own”; turning on pausing is what stops cost, and even then pausing is not instantaneous.[1] Pausing does not stop AI Gateway API key usage or v0 usage billed to the team, which continues to count toward the spend amount.[1] A Pro team’s default is a notification at $200 per billing cycle for new customers.[11] A Hobby team has no spend setting: it is paused when included usage is exceeded, and for Pro and Enterprise deployments are not stopped automatically at 100% usage.[12] Catalog: Spend Management; A spend amount does not stop usage by itself; Spend Management excludes seats, integrations and add-ons; Pausing affects only production deployments.
Enterprise SLA
The Enterprise Service Level Agreement commits Vercel to use commercially reasonable efforts to make the platform available 99.99% of the time, excluding Excused Downtime such as third-party vendor failures, general internet failures and customer software or hardware problems.[13] Credits are 10%, 25% or 50% of the monthly fee, depending on the uptime band; the maximum credit in a month is 50% of the amount due; the customer must notify Vercel in writing within 30 days with log files; and credits are the sole and exclusive remedy.[13] Catalog: Enterprise SLA; Enterprise SLA credits capped at 50 percent.
Support tiers
The Support Terms say Vercel commits to respond only to customers with an Enterprise subscription. The support tier, Standard or Premium, is shown on the Order Form.[14] Target response times for Enterprise tickets are:
| Severity | Standard | Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Severity 1 | under 4 business hours | under 2 hours (24/7) |
| Severity 2 | under 8 business hours | under 4 business hours |
| Severity 3 | under 16 business hours | under 6 business hours |
| Severity 4 | under 16 business hours | under 8 business hours |
The table is the Support Terms’ Enterprise target response guideline.[14] Business hours are 8:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday, for customers in the stated UTC zones, excluding Vercel-observed holidays; the guidelines apply only to tickets or Support Center cases and not to Slack or forum support.[14] Professional Services Packages such as code audits and pre-paid hours are available to Enterprise customers as paid add-ons.[14] Catalog: Enterprise Standard and Premium Support.
Audits and compliance
The public Enterprise Terms contain no usage-audit or true-up clause. They deal with excess usage by billing it in arrears and by the termination right described above.[8] Beta Features, such as items in preview, are provided “AS-IS” and are outside the warranties, indemnities, SLA and support; this matters if a production workload depends on a preview feature.[8] Third-party services reached through Vercel are governed solely by the third party’s terms.[8]
A practical control is to set the Spend Management amount and enable pausing for non-production-critical teams, and to review Flexible Commitment balance draw-down through the dashboard. The Terms of Service for self-service accounts, by contrast, charge the card on file automatically in arrears for usage and may do so early for anomalous use.[15]
