The Vercel Pro plan is the self-service paid plan for professional developers, freelancers and businesses, and the Hobby plan is the free plan beneath it. Together they cover the accounts that most software asset managers meet first: a team that started on a developer’s personal card and later became a business dependency. Vercel describes Pro as including everything in Hobby with more resource management and team capability, and states that it introduces “a flexible credit-based system” with usage-based billing, viewer roles and optional enterprise features as add-ons.[2]
Editions
Hobby
Hobby is free and “aimed at developers with personal projects, and small-scale applications”.[3] It has no billing cycle: when a Hobby team exceeds its included usage, it generally has to wait 30 days before it can use the feature again, and some limits pause for shorter periods, such as Web Analytics collection, which can resume after 7 days.[3] The licence condition is that Hobby users may only use the Services for “personal or non-commercial use”, and Vercel can remove Hobby projects or deployments with or without notice.[4] The commercial-use test is whether a deployment serves the financial gain of anyone involved in any part of production, including a paid employee or consultant writing the code.[5]
Each account may have one Hobby team.[1] A personal account that was converted to a Hobby team had its usage and activity log reset at conversion.[3]
Pro
Pro is billed monthly and not annually: the Billing FAQ answers “Can I pay annually?” with “No. Only monthly payments are supported”, and says annual payment is available on Enterprise.[6] Payment is by credit or debit card only; gift cards, prepaid cards and some virtual cards are invalid.[6] Each invoice charges for the upcoming cycle and includes any extra usage from the previous cycle.[6]
The Pro pricing structure has three parts.
| Component | Amount | Source behaviour |
|---|---|---|
| Platform fee | $20 per month | Includes 1 deploying seat and $20 of monthly usage credit[1] |
| Additional paid seats | $20 per month each | Owner or Member roles[1] |
| Viewer seats | Free | Read-only, unlimited[1] |
Catalog: Pro plan; Pro platform fee includes one seat and $20 credit.

The same page lists Password Protection at $20 per month per protected project on Pro, and states Hobby includes Vercel Authentication, deployment protection exceptions and shareable links.[3]
Metrics
Deploying team seats
On Pro “your team starts with 1 included paid seat that can deploy projects, manage the team, and access all member-level permissions”.[1] Further paid seats use the Owner or Member role at $20 per month each.[1] Vercel bills seats and add-ons for the next 30 days of use, and bills the previous cycle’s usage in arrears.[6] Catalog: Deploying team seat; Additional deploying seats cost $20 per month.
The documentation does not state a seat price for every role on a Pro team. It names Owner and Member as the paid seat roles and Pro Viewer as the free role.[1] The Developer role is described as available on Enterprise and Pro,[7] but the seat pricing page quoted here does not say whether it is a paid seat. A manager reconciling a Pro invoice should confirm the role-to-seat mapping with Vercel.
Viewer seats
A Viewer seat has the Viewer Pro role, with read-only access to analytics, speed insights and project deployments and the ability to comment on previews; “Viewers cannot configure or deploy projects.”[1] The Pro Viewer role cannot view observability and log data, team settings, or detailed usage and billing data.[7] Enterprise has its own Enterprise Viewer role, with comprehensive read-only access that includes sensitive operational data.[7] Catalog: Viewer seat; Viewer seats are free and read-only.
The Billing role can be assigned at no extra cost and is limited to one member on Pro.[7] Pro does not support the Security and Contributor roles.[8]
Monthly usage credit
Every Pro plan has $20 of monthly credit, usable across all managed infrastructure resources from the first unit used.[1] The credit expires at the end of the month and resets at the start of the following month.[1] Vercel notifies the team at 75% of the credit, then switches the team to on-demand usage after the credit is exceeded and sends daily and weekly summary emails.[1] If accrued usage crosses a billing threshold, a partial invoice may arrive before the cycle ends.[6] Catalog: Monthly usage credit; Pro credit expires monthly.
Counting and floors
- One included seat. The floor is one paid seat at the platform fee.
- Downgrade removes members. When a Pro team is downgraded to Hobby, all active members except the original owner are removed, and stores and domains must first be transferred out manually.[1]
- Role changes. Invitations expire after 7 days, or 30 days for SAML-enforced teams. De-provisioning through SAML removes the member from Vercel.[9]
- Billing cycle. The start date depends on when the account was created or the trial ended and cannot be changed.[6]
- Legacy metrics. Vercel still documents earlier metrics such as Bandwidth, Requests and Function Execution as legacy, which can appear in older invoices and usage exports.[10]
Virtualization and partitioning
Not applicable: there is no installable software. A team is the commercial unit, and “Each account is limited to one team on the Hobby plan”.[1] Teams on separate accounts each carry their own platform fee and credit.
Cloud and BYOL
No bring-your-own-licence rights apply to the platform. Payment is always by the team’s card on file, which the Terms of Service charge automatically in advance for the subscription and in arrears for usage.[4]
Programs
Pro add-ons
The documentation lists these add-ons for Pro teams, billed in the following billing cycle as a line item.[1][6]
| Add-on | Price |
|---|---|
| SAML Single Sign-On | $300 per month |
| HIPAA BAA | $350 per month |
| Password Protection | $20 per month per protected project |
| Flags Explorer | $250 per month |
| Preview Deployment Suffix | $100 per month |
| Static IPs | $100 per month per project, plus Private Data Transfer |
| Web Analytics Plus | $10 per month |
| Speed Insights Plus | $10 per month per project, plus $0.65 per 10,000 events |
| Observability Plus | $1.20 per 1 million events |
Several have their own conditions. Pro teams must buy the SAML add-on before configuring SAML.[11] Pro teams buy the HIPAA BAA from billing settings, whereas Enterprise teams request it from sales.[12] Existing Pro teams that bought the legacy Advanced Deployment Protection package keep their billing model and see it invoiced as Team Level Password Protection.[13] Observability Plus is enabled by default for teams created or upgraded to Paid Pro on or after April 3, 2026.[14] Web Analytics Plus costs $10 per month per team.[15] Catalog: SAML Single Sign-On add-on; HIPAA BAA add-on; Password Protection add-on.
Pro trial
A Pro trial lasts 14 days or until the team exceeds the trial limits, whichever comes first, and each user account is limited to one trial.[16] The trial includes a $20 credit and limits of one Owner, 10 team members and 200 projects, with 16 Active CPU hours, 1,440 GB-hours of Provisioned Memory and 1,000,000 function invocations.[16] It excludes Observability Plus, Drains, account webhooks, the free first-year domain and Sandbox failover regions.[16] Billing starts as soon as the trial ends if a payment method has been added; without one the account reverts to Hobby, and all team members are removed if the team is downgraded.[16] Content from trial teams may be used for AI model training under the Terms of Service.[4] Catalog: Pro trial.
Free first-year domain
Each paid Pro team may claim one domain on an eligible TLD (.app, .dev, .online, .site, .space, .store, .tech or .website) free for the first year; it renews at the standard rate, and trial teams are excluded.[1] Catalog: Free first-year domain with Pro.
Spend Management
Pro teams can use Spend Management at no additional cost to be notified, trigger a webhook or pause production deployments when metered usage beyond the credit reaches a set amount.[17] By default Vercel enables spend notifications for new customers at $200 per billing cycle.[1] See Vercel spend management and Flexible Commitment.
Audits and compliance
There is no audit clause in the Terms of Service, but a failed payment has operational consequences. An overdue account cannot create projects, add team members or redeploy; a failed renewal must be paid within 14 days or all deployments are paused, and a new subscription’s first payment must succeed within 24 hours.[6] Payments cannot be delayed or extended, and an invoice paid with the wrong method cannot be recharged or refunded.[6] If a payment dispute is filed with the card provider before contacting Vercel, the account and its deployments may be suspended until it is resolved.[18] Deleting a team permanently removes its invoice history.[6]
