Five9 AI and workforce engagement licensing

This article is about how Five9 licenses and prices AI features (AI Agent Assist, summaries, knowledge, intelligent virtual agents and voice AI agents) and Workforce Engagement Management, including bundled AI minutes, named WEM seats and partner vendor choices. It is not about concurrent agent seats and domain limits, which have their own article.

On This Page

Five9’s AI and workforce engagement products sit on top of the contact center seat and are priced through bundles and quotes. The bundle page treats Five9 AI features as part of the bundles, with a stated allowance of AI minutes per seat, and lists intelligent virtual agents, AI agents and agent assist as customisation add-ons.[1] Workforce Engagement Management (WEM), covering quality management, workforce management and analytics, is licensed differently from the agent seat: on a named basis, with a choice of vendors.[1] The two licence logics matter for asset management because concurrent seat counts do not carry over to them.

Editions

The AI features named in every bundle card are AI summaries, live transcription, AI insights, AI Agent Assist and AI knowledge.[1] The bundle names signal how deep the AI goes: Digital is described as digital channels only, Core as all channels with AI essential, Plus as all channels with advanced AI, Pro as all channels with AI essentials and WEM, and Enterprise as all channels with advanced AI and WEM.[1] The page does not enumerate which AI capabilities are in each level.

Beyond the bundles, the pricing page groups add-ons into AI (Intelligent Virtual Agent, AI Agents, Agent Assist), CRM and UC adapters, workforce engagement vendors (Five9 WEM, Verint cloud services, Calabrio), advanced analytics (Aceyus Vue, Aceyus Vue Dashboards, Five9 Analytics), support services (Customer Success Bundles, Technical Account Manager), professional services and digital engagement (social and video).[1] None carries a published price.

AI minutes per bundled seat

The note on the bundle page reads “AI : 3000 minutes per bundled seat + usage.”[1] It sets a per-seat allowance and says usage is charged beyond it. The page does not say whether minutes are pooled across the account, how a minute is measured for transcription versus a virtual agent conversation, whether unused minutes roll over, or the rate for usage. These are terms to settle in the order. See AI minutes per bundled seat and AI is bundled at 3000 minutes per seat plus usage.

The allowance scales with seats. A domain of 50 bundled seats would hold 150,000 AI minutes under the stated per-seat figure, but a customer that adds virtual agents handling large volumes of calls could exceed that without adding a single human seat. Five9’s blog separately describes usage-based, per-minute pricing as an option alongside concurrent and seat-based licensing, but it does not say how AI usage is metered.[7] See Usage-based (per-minute) pricing.

Named WEM seats

The bundle note states that “WEM [is] offered on a named-basis” and that when the named seats required exceed the concurrent seats sold, the additional seats are sold as add-ons.[1] This creates a mismatch to watch. For example, a contact center with 100 concurrent seats and 300 agents across shifts could need up to 300 named WEM users if every agent is scored or scheduled, so the WEM quantity can be a multiple of the agent seat quantity. See Workforce Engagement Management seat, Named agent and WEM is named-basis and extra named seats are add-ons.

Five9 positions Essentials Workforce Management as ideally suited for contact centers up to 100 seats.[5] See Essentials WFM targets contact centers up to 100 seats.

Counting and floors

Five9 does not publish a floor specific to AI or WEM. The 50-seat minimum on the bundle page applies to the per concurrent user prices in general.[1] See Fifty-seat minimum. Since the AI allowance is per bundled seat, the practical floor on AI is 50 seats times 3000 minutes if the minimum applies to the bundle, a calculation to confirm on the order rather than assume.

Vendor choice and programs

The note on WEM says the customer can choose Five9 or existing WEM partners Verint (VCS) or Calabrio.[1] The pricing page adds that Verint cloud services applications are pre-integrated with Five9 and are sold, configured and supported by Five9, while Calabrio is a Five9 Select partner offering quality management, workforce management and analytics powered by Five9 VoiceStream.[1] The licence therefore may be Five9 paper even when the software is a partner’s, and the partner’s own licence terms may be passed through. See WEM vendor choice and Customers may choose Five9, Verint or Calabrio for WEM.

Every customer receives Core Support: 24x7 global support, customer success management, a platform health dashboard, online training through Five9 University, communities and forums, and the product knowledge base. Customer Success Bundles and Technical Account Management are priced extras.[6] See Core Support and Customer Success Bundles and Every customer receives Core Support.

Use restrictions

Five9’s public pages do not publish AI-specific use restrictions, such as consent requirements, caps on invocations or exclusions for payment card data. A customer with regulatory requirements should request the AI addendum and data-handling terms with its quote. Five9’s legal index lists data processing addendums and business associate agreements, which are the places such obligations appear.[8]

Out of scope

This article does not cover agent seat counting, which is in the concurrent seats article, contract terms, which are not public, or third-party partner products beyond naming the vendor choices.

Compliance checklist

  1. Confirm in the order whether AI minutes are pooled and how they are measured.
  2. Track AI minute consumption monthly against 3000 minutes per bundled seat.
  3. Reconcile named WEM users to named seats purchased, especially for multi-shift teams.
  4. Record which WEM vendor (Five9, Verint or Calabrio) applies and any pass-through terms.
  5. Obtain the AI and data-processing addenda before enabling AI features that handle regulated data.
