Druva licenses backup of SaaS applications and endpoints per user. This covers Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, laptops and desktops, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and identity systems (Entra ID, Active Directory and Okta).[2][3][4] Druva’s Master Customer Agreement limits use to the maximum number of permitted Authorized Users and the storage limit per Authorized User set in the Order Form.[8] Druva’s documentation explains when a user consumes a licence. Unlike Druva’s enterprise workloads, which use credits, these services are the “license-based Cloud Services” of the agreement.[8]

Metrics
Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. “An active license for Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace is consumed when the first backup is successfully initiated for any application of that workload.”[1] A user whose Gmail is backed up first and Drive later consumes only one Google Workspace licence.[1] Users who are added but never backed up do not consume licences. In Druva’s example, 300 users are added, 100 are backed up and 100 licences are consumed.[1] Catalog: Microsoft 365 active user licence; Google Workspace active user licence; A Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace licence is consumed at the first backup.
Endpoints. An Endpoints licence is consumed when the user’s first device is activated. A user with a laptop and a mobile device consumes one licence.[1] Catalog: Endpoints active user licence; One Endpoints licence per user regardless of device count.
Preserved users. When an administrator marks a backed-up user as preserved, for example a leaver whose data must be kept, the user consumes a preserve licence for each backed-up workload and frees the active licence. A preserved user with no backed-up workload consumes no preserve licence.[1] For tenants provisioned through Druva’s Managed Services Center, Druva adds preserved users equal to 10% of the active user count, and preserved users are available with the Enterprise and Elite editions.[6] Catalog: Preserved user licence; Preserving a user moves it from an active to a preserve licence.
Salesforce, Dynamics 365 and identity. These are priced “Per User”.[3][4] Druva’s public pages do not say how users are counted for these workloads, so the Order Form governs. Catalog: Per-user licence (CRM and identity workloads).
Counting / floors
Buffer. Druva tolerates consumption above the allocation up to a buffer of “5% of license allocated or 100 whichever is lower”. Beyond the buffer, the first backup of additional Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace users fails, and device activation for additional Endpoints users fails.[1] For an allocation of 1,000 users the buffer is 50. For 5,000 users it is 100. Catalog: Licence buffer of 5% or 100 users before backups of new users fail.
Shared and resource mailboxes. Druva grants complimentary licences for shared and resource mailboxes equal to 50% of Microsoft 365 licences, without extra storage. An odd total is rounded down. With 100 Microsoft 365 licences and a 5,000 GB quota, the customer gets 50 shared mailbox licences, and the 5,000 GB is shared across all 150. More shared mailbox licences can be bought.[1] Catalog: Shared and resource mailboxes get 50% complimentary licences without extra storage.
Storage. “Storage is provided based on the number of user-based licenses purchased.” Organization-based workloads draw from the same capacity, and more storage must be agreed with the account executive.[1] With the High Storage Tier option, the storage limit is 300 GB per user. The option is available only with the Enterprise and Elite editions and does not apply to Salesforce and Dynamics 365.[6] Catalog: Storage limit per user; Storage for SaaS apps is provided per user-based licence; High Storage Tier sets 300 GB per user in Enterprise and Elite.
Cost-based remediation. For license-based services, if the cost of providing the service exceeds the fees, Druva notifies the customer and both work to remediate. If there is no resolution in 60 days, Druva may terminate.[8] Heavy storage use per user can therefore have contractual effects even within the user count. Catalog: Licence-based services whose cost exceeds the fees can be terminated.
Virtualization & partitioning
Per-user licensing does not depend on infrastructure. An Endpoints user with several devices needs one licence.[1] Under the MCA, the customer may install the Cloud Services on any of its compatible endpoint devices within the Authorized User and storage limits.[8] Catalog: Use is limited to licensed Authorized Users and per-user storage.
Cloud / BYOL
Druva-hosted. Druva stores the backup data of its SaaS and endpoint services in the Cloud Storage Area the customer selects.[8]
Microsoft 365 Backup Express. Druva for Microsoft 365 Backup Express (MBE) works differently. It is a Druva console for Microsoft 365 Backup, and backup data is stored in the customer’s own Microsoft tenant. The customer must have subscriptions for Microsoft 365 and Microsoft cloud storage, and must follow Microsoft’s terms.[7] Storage limits apply, and the customer may be charged for overages periodically during the term. Orders are non-cancellable and non-refundable. Druva’s Service Level Agreement and Data Resiliency Guarantee do not apply to MBE.[7] Catalog: Druva for Microsoft 365 Backup Express; Microsoft 365 Backup Express needs the customer's own Microsoft subscriptions.
Programs
SaaS Universal License. A “Unified per-user license” that covers Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Dynamics 365, Salesforce, Power Platform, Entra ID, Active Directory and Okta. The customer pays one flat rate per user across all applications. Storage is pooled at 300GB per user, and high-storage workloads draw from the shared pool.[5] Druva’s page does not say whether a user protected in several applications counts once, but it describes the licence as one rate per user across all apps. Catalog: Druva SaaS Universal License; SaaS Universal License pools 300GB per user across applications.
Essentials Pack. For organisations with 250 or fewer employees, Druva bundles SaaS application protection for Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce and Dynamics 365 with storage for data centre and cloud-native workloads. Cyber Essentials adds Microsoft Entra ID protection. Okta and Active Directory are add-ons.[9] Catalog: Druva Essentials Pack (Essentials and Cyber Essentials).
Evaluation. Tenants provisioned through the Managed Services Center can start as Evaluation tenants for 30 days, extendable by up to 30 days at a time to at most 60 days. A Commercial tenant cannot revert to Evaluation.[6] Catalog: Evaluation tenant.
