Canva plans, seats and billing describes how Canva packages and charges for its design platform. Self-serve customers choose between Free, Pro and Business and can pay monthly or yearly. Larger organisations buy Canva Enterprise through Canva’s sales team. Schools, nonprofits and universities have their own offerings.[1] The billing rules come from the Terms of Use and the Canva Help Center. The Terms of Use set out the Pay as You Grow model for teams, and the Help Center describes how the model is applied to seats and team members.[2][3]
Editions
Free, Pro and Business
Canva Free costs nothing. It includes more than 1.6 million templates, one Brand Kit limited to three colours, 5GB of cloud storage and up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses a month.[1] Catalog: Canva Free.
Canva Pro adds premium templates and content, five Brand Kits, social scheduling, 100GB of storage and Affinity with AI. On 2026-10-03 it was shown at EUR 110 a year “for one person”.[1] The FAQ is explicit that “Only one person can use a Canva Pro account”, and the Pro column of the comparison table marks “Invite team members” as unavailable.[1] Catalog: Canva Pro; proof Canva Pro is for one person only.
Canva Business is the self-serve plan for teams. It was shown at EUR 170 a year per person and adds collaboration and team admin tools, 100 Brand Kits with approvals, Flourish, 500GB of storage and a larger AI allowance.[1] The Help Center states that “Creating a team requires a Canva Business plan”.[5] Catalog: Canva Business; proof Creating a team requires Canva Business.
Canva Teams (legacy)
Canva Business replaced Canva Teams, which “is no longer available for new sign-ups or upgrades”.[4] Existing Teams subscribers keep their current pricing, including when they add members, and keep receiving the features added to Pro, but not features exclusive to Business. A cancelled Teams subscription cannot be resubscribed. The customer must move to Pro or Business instead.[4] Designs created in a Teams workspace belong to that workspace, so members who leave lose access to them.[4] Catalog: Canva Teams (legacy); proof Canva Teams cannot be resubscribed after cancellation.
Enterprise
Canva Enterprise is aimed at “large or multi-team organizations”. It adds SSO and SCIM, custom apps, 1000 Brand Kits and 1TB of storage to the Business feature set.[1] Canva does not offer a free trial of Enterprise and says pricing depends on team size. The Enterprise page describes it as a fit for teams of more than 100 people.[6] Billing can include regular invoicing, arranged with the sales team.[1] Catalog: Canva Enterprise.
Education, Nonprofits and Campus
- Canva Education is free for eligible K-12 teachers, librarians, learning support staff, schools, districts and departments of education. Colleges, universities, tutors, homeschool educators who are not licensed or employed by a K-12 institution, and parents are not eligible.[9] Use is limited to “non-commercial, educational purposes”, and only the institution’s students, staff and faculty may use it.[10] Catalog: Canva Education.
- Canva Nonprofits gives registered nonprofits free access to Pro features plus team tools “for one team of up to 50 users”. Additional seats are 50% off Canva Enterprise.[11] Catalog: Canva Nonprofits; proof Canva Nonprofits limited to one team of 50 users.
- Canva Campus is “Canva Enterprise, plus free premium access for enrolled students”. The free student seats require “a minimum number of staff or faculty licenses based on your student body size”. A department can start on Canva Enterprise without student seats, and its licences count toward unlocking Campus. Canva points institutions with 25 seats or fewer to Canva Business, which has no higher-education pricing.[12] Catalog: Canva Campus; proof Canva Campus needs a minimum of staff licences.
Metrics
- Person (Canva Pro account): Pro and Free.
- Seat: “A seat means one paid place on your plan for one team member.”[3]
- Team member: the people on the team at the billing date, for teams not on the seat model.[3]
- User: Enterprise and Campus quantities on an Order Form.
- AI allowance: the monthly pool of AI uses.

Pay as You Grow
The Terms of Use state that plans which enable a Team are billed under Canva’s “Pay as You Grow” model. Seats added to a Team are billed on the next Billing Date unless the Team Owner or an Administrator removes them first.[2] The Billing Date is the next monthly renewal on a monthly plan. On an annual plan it falls every three months after the subscription start date. Canva emails the billing contact three days before the Billing Date with the number of added seats and the fees. Removing seats that have already been paid for earns no refund or credit.[2] The Team Owner is billed for, and responsible for, the Team’s fees.[2] Catalog: Pay as You Grow; proof Added Team seats billed on the next Billing Date, Annual Team plans true up every 3 months, No refund for removed Team seats, Team Owner is billed for the Team.
Seat model and team-member model
The Help Center describes two billing models for Canva Business. A team whose People settings show “Manage seats” is on the seat model. Otherwise the team is billed by team members.[3]
| Rule | Seat model | Team-member model |
|---|---|---|
| What is billed | Seats on the plan, filled or empty | People on the team at the billing date |
| Invitations | Seats are billed even if an invite has not been accepted; an invite with no empty seat may add a paid seat | Charged once the person joins |
| Removing a person | Leaves the seat billable until it is removed with Manage seats | Reduces the next bill if done before the billing date |
| Yearly plans | Billed every three months; added seats billed for the remaining plan duration | Billed every three months; added members billed for the remaining plan duration |
| Cut-off | Seats added within three days of the billing date are charged on the following bill | Same three-day rule |
All of the rules in the table come from the Canva Business billing article.[3] Catalog proof: Seats are billed even if the invite is not accepted, Removing a member does not remove the seat, Three-day billing cut-off for added seats, Team-member billing counts the team on the billing date.
The seat model has a practical consequence for reclaiming licences. On that model, removing a leaver from the team does not reduce the bill. The administrator must also lower the seat count with Manage seats before the next billing date.[3]
Minimums
The current pricing page and Business billing article state no minimum number of Business seats.[1][3] The published thresholds attach to benefits. Enterprise customers need 150 or more contracted seats for creative services and a dedicated customer success manager, and 100 or more paid users for the Canva Shield AI output indemnity.[6]
Renewal, cancellation and price changes
Self-serve subscriptions renew automatically each billing cycle, and Canva notifies the customer before auto-renewal.[2] A cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle without a refund of fees already paid, except where the law requires one.[2] A price increase on a subscription does not apply “until your next renewal or thirty (30) days after notice, whichever is later”.[2] Catalog proof: Self-serve subscriptions auto-renew each billing cycle, Cancellation takes effect at end of billing cycle without refund, Self-serve price increases apply from next renewal.
Pricing varies by location and is based on the billing information given at purchase. The Terms of Use prohibit using a VPN “to circumvent geographic-based pricing or content access”.[2] Catalog proof: No VPN to circumvent geographic pricing.
Customers who buy through a reseller are trued up each quarter. If the number of Users exceeds the User Commitment, the reseller invoices the excess pro rata for the rest of the term at the same per-User rate, and the commitment rises automatically.[13] Catalog: Reseller User Commitment true-up.
Trials
The Pro and Business trial is available “once per Canva account and once per payment method”. During the trial the AI allowance is the same as Canva Free, and the plan renews automatically unless it is cancelled.[5] Business trial users can invite team members without being billed during the trial.[1] Catalog: Free trials and pilots; proof Free trial once per account and payment method.
AI allowance, AI Pass and top-ups
Every plan includes a monthly AI allowance shared across Standard, Premium and Ultra AI tools. Standard AI tools on paid plans do not draw on the allowance, subject to fair use.[1] The pricing page estimates the allowance by plan:
| Plan | Estimated monthly AI uses (single tool tier) |
|---|---|
| Canva Free | Up to 20 Standard or Premium; no Ultra |
| Canva Pro | Up to 200 Premium or up to 20 Ultra |
| Canva Business | Up to 400 Premium or up to 40 Ultra |
| Canva Enterprise | Up to 400 Premium or up to 40 Ultra |
Source for the table: the pricing page FAQ.[1] The AI Product Terms state that AI Usage Limits “are operational controls and not fixed entitlements”. Canva may change them, and reaching a limit can bring slowdowns or pauses until the limit resets.[8] Catalog proof: AI Usage Limits are not fixed entitlements.
AI Pass is a monthly recurring add-on. It gives 40 times more AI than Pro, or 20 times more than Business, and costs USD 100 globally per person per month. Annual subscribers may pay for it yearly, charged pro rata.[7] It is available on web-managed Pro, Teams, Business and Nonprofits plans. It is not available on Free, Education or Enterprise, during a free trial, on prepaid plans, or on subscriptions managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play.[7] On team plans, only owners and admins can buy AI Pass, and they buy it for individual members from the People page. AI top-ups are one-time purchases for Business users, each equal to the monthly Business allowance and valid for 30 days.[1][7] Catalog: AI Pass; AI Pass and AI top-ups; proof AI Pass excluded from Free, Education and Enterprise, AI Pass priced per person per month.
