Anysphere licensing covers the commercial and legal terms under which Anysphere, Inc. supplies Cursor, a suite of AI-driven coding tools. Anysphere describes itself as an applied research company working on automating coding, and its Terms of Service grant a limited right to access and use the Service rather than a licence to a copy of the software.[5] Licensing therefore turns less on installations than on who holds a seat, which plan that seat is on, how much model usage the plan includes, and what is billed when that usage is exhausted.
Cursor is sold in four layers. Individual plans are bought online by a person with a card. Teams plans add shared billing and administration for small organizations. Enterprise plans are negotiated on an Order Form. Product extensions such as Bugbot code review and Cloud Agents bill from usage rather than from additional seats.[1][10][12]
Editions
The Help centre lists the plans as Hobby (free), Start (India only, INR 649 per month, tax inclusive), Pro ($20 per month), Pro+ ($60 per month), Ultra ($200 per month), Teams Standard ($40 per user per month) and Teams Premium ($120 per user per month). Enterprise is quoted individually.[1] The Docs call the $60 plan “Pro Plus”.[2]
| Plan | Price in the Help and Docs pages | Usage included |
|---|---|---|
| Hobby | Free | Limited usage of Agent, Chat and Tab with the Auto model[1] |
| Start (India only) | INR 649 per month, tax inclusive | Cursor Models pool only; no Other Models pool[2] |
| Pro | $20 per month | Cursor Models and Other Models pools[2] |
| Pro Plus | $60 per month | Both pools[2] |
| Ultra | $200 per month | Both pools[2] |
| Teams Standard | $40 per user per month | Per-seat allowance in both pools[3] |
| Teams Premium | $120 per user per month | 5x a Standard seat[3] |
| Enterprise | Custom | Pooled usage, SCIM, audit logs, invoicing[9] |
The cursor.com pricing page retrieved on 2026-10-13 shows a different matrix: Free, Plus ($8), Premium ($30), Super ($100), Ultra ($200), Teams (from $30 per user per month) and Enterprise, with a usage pool described as shared across Cursor and Grok and refreshing weekly. It states that third-party model usage in Cursor is not included in the monthly prices and must be purchased separately.[6] The same page names X Subscription Corp as the seller of the subscription it describes.[6] The Help and Docs pages, by contrast, describe monthly pools and Pro, Pro+ and Ultra plans.[1][2] The documents have not been reconciled by the vendor in the sources retrieved, so an asset manager should treat the plan names and prices on the buyer’s own checkout screen or Order Form as authoritative.
Cursor Start is a separate India market plan. It requires Indian phone verification, includes the Cursor Models pool and Cloud Agents, excludes third-party models, Auto and on-demand spend, and cannot be returned to after an upgrade to Pro, Pro+, Ultra or Teams.[7]
Metrics
Anysphere uses several measures at once. The first is the seat: an individual subscription, a Teams Standard or Premium seat, or an Enterprise Core License.[3][4] The second is the usage pool: included model usage measured in dollars at each model’s per-million-token rate, split into a Cursor Models pool (Grok 4.7, Grok 4.6, Grok 4.5 and Composer 2.5) and an Other Models pool for third-party models.[2] The third is tokens: the Pricing Policy defines Total Tokens as input, output and cache read and write tokens, and multiplies them by model rates and by the Cursor Token Rate.[4] The Cursor Token Rate is $0.25 per million tokens on third-party requests on Teams and Enterprise plans.[2]
The catalog records these as Individual plan subscription, Teams Standard seat, Core License, Precommitted Usage, On-Demand Usage, Total Tokens and Cursor Token Rate. Details are in the plans, Teams and Enterprise, and model pricing articles.
Counting and floors
On Teams, Cursor bills per active paid seat rather than pre-allocated seats. Adding a member mid-cycle creates a pro-rated charge, and removing a member who has used credits keeps the seat occupied until the cycle ends.[3] Included usage is allocated per user, does not transfer between members and resets each billing cycle.[3] Unpaid Admin seats cost $0 and give no Cursor access, but need at least one paid user on the team.[3]
For Enterprise, the Pricing Policy requires Core Licenses and pools Precommitted Usage across users under the same account number. A true-up compares Active Users in the final 30 days of each True Up Period with the Core License seat count and invoices extra seats for the rest of the Service Term. Reassigning seats to new users inside the organization is free while Active Users stay within the seat count.[4] Unused Precommitted Usage does not roll over, and the Pricing Policy provides for invoicing unused and unbilled amounts at the end of the term.[4]
Virtualization and partitioning
Not applicable in the usual sense. Cursor is delivered as an application and a hosted service. The documents cited here do not define virtual-machine, partition or cluster rules. Cloud Agents run in isolated VMs managed by Cursor and are billed as model usage rather than by machine.[12]
Cloud and bring-your-own-key
Customers can add their own provider keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Azure or AWS Bedrock models. The provider bills the model cost, and requests still pass through Cursor’s backend.[15] On Teams and Enterprise each third-party request still carries the Cursor Token Rate, including requests made with the customer’s own key.[2] Cursor’s zero data retention policy does not apply to requests made with a customer’s own key.[15] US-only data residency is available to Enterprise teams at a 10% uplift on model pricing for eligible models.[8]
Programs
Enterprise customers contract through an Enterprise Order Form, with renewals that auto-renew unless either party gives 30 days’ written notice.[4] A customer whose organization has a Master Services Agreement with Anysphere is governed by that agreement instead of the online Terms.[5] Individual plans renew automatically and must be cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal.[5] Refunds are reviewed only for the most recent payment, made within 14 days, with no use of the subscription in that period.[13] The legacy student discount closed to new sign-ups on 2026-06-25.[1]
Anysphere states that subscriptions are sold only directly and that it authorizes no resellers; subscriptions bought elsewhere may be suspended or terminated.[6] The Acceptable Use Policy also forbids manipulating billing or usage metering and exploiting team or user assignment workflows to avoid fees.[11]
Out of scope
This article does not cover the terms of third-party model providers, the licences of extensions installed in the editor, X Corp or other affiliate subscription terms referred to on cursor.com, or the commercial terms of individual Enterprise Order Forms, which are confidential. Security certifications are listed on the vendor’s Security page.[14] Pricing for Grok Bot and the X subscription is not catalogued here.
