Definition
License Usage Terms: "Endpoint" or "Managed OS Instance" means a physical or virtual hardware device where Tanium software can be installed and which is capable of processing data. The list of Managed OS Instances includes mobile phones, workstations, home-based systems, file, print and email servers, internet gateway devices, SAN servers and terminal servers. Where the Service is installed at hypervisor level, the hypervisor is a single Endpoint.
Counting rules
Endpoints are Standard (Total Uptime over 24 hours at any time in the Subscription Term) or Ephemeral (Total Uptime 24 hours or less). Standard Endpoints keep counting for 30 days after the last registration seen in the Tanium Console, even if re-imaged. Disaster recovery and VDI endpoints count. The Console treats an endpoint as managed if its Tanium Client registered in the past 30 days. Endpoints known only through an entity provider such as the Tanium Connector for Microsoft Intune have no Tanium Client and do not count.
Floors / minimums
No minimum quantity published; quantities are set in the Quote or Schedule. On-premises Console warns when Maximum Managed Endpoints is exceeded and directs the customer to Tanium Support when the excess is more than 10 percent.
