The Camtasia plans are TechSmith’s individual subscription bundles built around Camtasia Editor. Each plan combines several of TechSmith’s applications into one subscription for a single buyer.[1] Camtasia Pro, for example, “includes Camtasia, Camtasia Audiate, Assets for Camtasia, and Screencast”.[2] The plans sit beside three add-on products that can also be bought on their own. Camtasia Audiate is a text-based audio and video editor with AI voice, avatar and translation features. Screencast is TechSmith’s hosting and sharing service. The Assets libraries provide stock media and templates for Snagit and Camtasia.[3][4]
The plans are Individual Subscriptions under the Snagit and Camtasia subscription EULA.[5][6] Audiate, Screencast and Camtasia Online each have their own terms of service in the TechSmith Trust Center.[7][8]

All plans are billed yearly.[10] TechSmith offers only annual payment for Snagit and Camtasia, with no monthly plan.[11] Snagit was added to every Camtasia plan. Holders of a sign-in based Snagit Individual Subscription had it cancelled. Where that Snagit subscription renewed later than the Camtasia plan, the Camtasia renewal date was extended to match. Key-based Snagit subscriptions were left unchanged.[12] Camtasia Essentials also gained Audiate transcription, text-based editing and filler-word removal. Camtasia Pro gained Premium Snagit Assets.[12] Each application in the plans can be trialled for free with limits. The plans are described as unlimited, subject to the terms of service, which contain an excessive-use clause.[10]
Metrics
Each plan is licensed per Individual Subscription, “a subscription licensed to a single Authorized User”.[5] The plans are tied to the original purchaser, and the user must sign in with the email used to buy the plan to activate the software.[6] Audiate, Assets and Screencast Pro bought for teams are managed per seat. The subscription owner assigns seats to users and can delegate this to seat managers.[13][14]
Counting / floors
Plans are individual only. “Camtasia individual plans are non-transferable”.[10] Camtasia Pro is available online only as an individual plan that cannot be transferred. TechSmith’s sales team or resellers can instead build a similar business package from the separate products.[2] Through the channel, TechSmith sells a bundle of yearly subscriptions to Camtasia, Camtasia Audiate, Camtasia Assets and Screencast.com Pro.[15] The Camtasia plans are “not yet available as a multi-user or transferable business license”.[1] Catalog proof: Camtasia plans are individual-only and non-transferable.
Installations. The plans follow the Individual Subscription rule of unlimited installations, with sign-in on only one device at a time.[5] Audiate may be installed on two computers, provided the user signs in with their own subscription and uses only one instance at a time.[16] Catalog proof: Audiate may be installed on two computers, one signed-in instance.
Upgrades between plans. Individual plan holders can upgrade to Camtasia Create or Pro in the TechSmith account portal. Business License holders instead add Audiate, Assets and Screencast Pro as separate subscriptions, which they can buy in volume, and so manage several subscriptions.[4] An Audiate subscription cannot be co-termed with a Camtasia Business or Legacy License Subscription and renews separately.[17] Catalog proof: Audiate cannot be co-termed with Camtasia Business or Legacy.
Seat extensions. Extensions for Camtasia Audiate, Camtasia Assets and Snagit Assets are pro-rated monthly and need a price quote, whether bought directly or through the channel.[18] Audiate, Screencast and Assets subscriptions have no legacy pricing.[19]
Virtualization & partitioning
Audiate is delivered as a cloud service with a downloadable on-premise component. The Audiate terms license that component “in such quantities as are set forth on the applicable order” for internal business or personal purposes only. Use by a parent, subsidiary, affiliate or other third party is excluded unless the order allows it.[8] Audiate needs an internet connection and cloud processing for its AI features, and cloud processing cannot be turned off.[16] Audiate projects can be opened offline for up to 24 hours after the last connection.[16] TechSmith publishes no virtualization rules specific to the plans. The EULA’s single-unit rule means Snagit included in Camtasia may not be split off and installed on a different Device.[5]
Cloud / BYOL
Screencast is a hosted service. The free tier stores up to 25 videos for 12 months, and Screencast Pro offers unlimited storage kept indefinitely.[20] If Screencast Pro is not renewed, the account reverts to the free tier. After 60 days, videos not viewed in the previous 12 months are removed, and uploads are blocked until the account holds 25 videos or fewer.[21][22] The Audiate terms grant the customer a perpetual, worldwide licence to the content it generates with the service, including AI-generated content, to the extent TechSmith holds rights in it.[8] Audiate content remains on the user’s machine, but it cannot be opened without an active subscription. TechSmith advises exporting projects as WAV files before cancelling.[16]
Programs
Service level agreement. TechSmith offers an SLA for Camtasia Audiate when it is bought as an add-on at 100 seats or more.[16]
Refunds. Audiate subscriptions can be refunded within 14 days of purchase. Screencast subscriptions can be refunded if the request arrives within 14 days of purchase. Snagit and Camtasia Assets subscriptions can be refunded within 14 days only if no more than 5 assets have been downloaded.[21] The Audiate terms likewise limit refunds to the first 14 days after the customer agreed to the terms.[8]
Students. Snagit and Camtasia individual subscriptions are offered to students in the US, Canada and the UK through Student Beans.[3] Catalog row: Camtasia Student Offer - annual.
Ownership transfer. Directly purchased Assets, Audiate and Screencast Pro subscriptions can be transferred to another email address from the Direct orders tab of the TechSmith account. The new owner must accept, and all invoices must be paid. Online store purchases are transferred through a support ticket.[14]
