SysAid asset licensing and add-ons

This article is about how SysAid counts managed assets and licenses its add-on modules (asset packs, Patch Management, License Manager Advanced, Lansweeper discovery, remote support, BI and platform add-ons). For the platform overview see SysAid licensing.

On This Page

SysAid asset licensing is the second dimension of a SysAid subscription after agents. Each plan includes a number of managed assets, 250 on both the Professional and Enterprise plans,[1] and the quantity grows through additional asset packs.[1] Several add-on modules are then licensed against those assets or against seats: Patch Management is licensed per asset on an annual subscription,[5] TeamViewer Embedded per concurrent licence,[12] and advanced BI Analytics per power-user seat.[1] The catalog records the unit as Managed asset.

Editions

Both plans include the same asset-management base: 250 managed assets, asset monitoring and CMDB, inventory management and network discovery, and License Manager Essentials.[1] The add-ons differ little between plans:

The older FAQ lists Patch Management, BI Analytics and the Automate Joe orchestration engine as optional add-ons, and lists remote control through the SysAid RCG and Remote Desktop (My Desktop), each with one concurrent licence, among the included modules.[2]

Metrics

Counting / floors

Which assets count

Assets reach SysAid in several ways: WMI scans of Windows computers, SNMP scans of network hardware, the SysAid Agent, Lansweeper and Microsoft Intune imports, and manual or CSV entry.[4] The documentation ties the licence total to an asset’s Disabled status, not to its source: disabled assets stop counting toward the licence total (rule, effective 2026-08-03).[3] Disabling stops automatic inventory updates, monitoring and every other SysAid Agent capability for the asset, while keeping its record and history; SysAid recommends it for equipment that is in storage, awaiting disposal or otherwise out of service.[3] Deleting an asset removes its record and history and cannot be undone, and the documentation directs customers who want to free up a licence to disable instead.[3]

SysAid can be used without deploying an agent, importing Windows computers by WMI and network devices by SNMP; the SysAid Agent adds remote control, monitoring and full hardware and software detail.[2] For non-computer and non-SNMP items the FAQ suggests the CMDB, which supports custom item types.[2] Whether CMDB configuration items count toward the asset total is not stated in the documents reviewed.

Quota behaviour

The Lansweeper add-on shows how the quota is enforced. If the account exceeds its asset quota, new assets from Lansweeper are created in a disabled state, and existing disabled assets are not updated (effective 2026-07-30).[8] SysAid publishes no over-deployment charge or true-up mechanism for assets; additional assets are bought as asset packs.[1]

Floors

The 250 included assets are the only published floor. Asset pack sizes and prices are not published.[1]

Add-on modules

Patch Management

SysAid Patch Management is powered by GFI and keeps Windows servers and PCs up to date.[14] It is licensed as an annual subscription for a quantity of assets the customer chooses, and its functionality is available only for assets that have active asset licences (effective 2026-07-20).[5] SysAid gives a worked example: a customer managing 1,000 assets, 600 of which qualify for Patch Management, can buy a licence for 400 and choose which assets to enable.[5] Enabling Patch Management on an asset consumes one of those licences.[6] Target assets must run Microsoft Windows.[5] Cloud customers can use Patch Management by subscribing to a Patch Management licence.[2] Agents need the Manage Patch Management permission to approve and deploy patches.[16]

License Manager

License Manager combines contract management with application discovery.[10] The pricing page includes License Manager Essentials in both plans and offers License Manager Advanced as an add-on.[1] Application discovery, which identifies SaaS applications through Microsoft Entra ID sign-ins, and the linking of contracts to applications are available only to customers who purchased License Manager Advanced (effective 2026-03-30).[10] Each contract can be linked to exactly one application.[10] The product page describes a free version and premium features such as advanced usage tracking.[11] Full access to License Manager is controlled by the Manage Software Licensing permission.[16]

Lansweeper Advanced Discovery

The Lansweeper integration requires a Lansweeper plan or edition that supports creating an API token.[8] A Lansweeper free trial ends after 14 days, after which the integration stops unless a Lansweeper licence has been bought; SysAid sells one as part of its plan, and the licence it sells includes the required API access.[8] Lansweeper and Microsoft Intune are listed as additional discovery methods available if included in the customer’s plan.[9]

Remote support

Built-in remote control includes one concurrent RCG session, and direct connection has no session limit.[6] TeamViewer Embedded is an annual subscription of concurrent licences, each covering access to 150 devices per month (effective 2026-05-13).[12] Splashtop Remote Support is an add-on for both plans.[1] Connecting Splashtop to the AI Agent Builder requires the email address and Splashtop API token of every IT agent allowed to start remote sessions, and each user must log in to Splashtop and create their own API key.[13]

BI Analytics and platform add-ons

BI Analytics is built on Qlik.[14] Enterprise includes advanced BI analytics with one Advanced Qlik BI power user seat, and further seats are an add-on for both plans.[1] Access to the module is governed by the Access BI Analytics permission.[16] The SysAid Store sells BI Analytics, TeamViewer admins and a move to Cloud to existing accounts.[17] All editions include 30GB of attachment storage per account, with more at additional cost.[14]

Virtualization & partitioning

SysAid’s documents publish no rule that treats virtual machines differently from physical ones for the asset count. The FAQ definition covers any network or SNMP device recorded in SysAid and makes no exception for virtual machines.[2]

Cloud / BYOL

Asset licences are not portable to other platforms. For On-Premises customers, BI Analytics, Automate Joe and TeamViewer Embedded are hybrid services that rely on SysAid’s cloud and are governed by the Cloud Terms (effective 2024-07-22).[15]

Programs

Asset packs and add-ons are bought as Additional Services under the SysAid Cloud subscription or the SysAid On-Premises subscription, which follow the current term’s pricing structure and end date and are prorated for the rest of the term (effective 2026-06-30).[18] See SysAid Cloud and On-Premises terms.

Out of scope

This page does not cover the licence terms of Lansweeper, Splashtop, TeamViewer, GFI or Qlik bought directly from those vendors, SysAid professional services, or software license management performed with License Manager on third-party products.
