For a licence manager, the most important fact about Perplexity Enterprise administration is that several controls are not part of every seat purchase. Perplexity states that SCIM, audit logs, configurable data retention and the Insights dashboard are available to Enterprise organizations that have 50 seats or more, or at least one Enterprise Max user.[2][3][4][5] Because one Enterprise Max seat unlocks the features for the whole organization, a small organization can reach them without buying 50 seats.[1] This article lists the controls, the thresholds and the data-handling behavior documented in the help center on 2026-10-13.

Features gated by 50 seats or one Enterprise Max seat
| Feature | What it does | Gate |
|---|---|---|
| SCIM | Syncs users and groups from an identity provider into Perplexity | 50 or more seats, or one Enterprise Max user[2] |
| Audit logs | Delivers user and admin events to a customer webhook in real time | 50 or more seats, or one Enterprise Max user[3] |
| Configurable data retention and Enforce Incognito Mode | Sets session retention windows and forces incognito sessions | 50 or more seats, or one Enterprise Max user[4] |
| Insights | Admin analytics dashboard with usage metrics | 50 or more seats, or one Enterprise Max member[5] |
The Enterprise Max article repeats the point in the other direction: there is no seat minimum for organization-wide access to SCIM, audit logs, configurable data retention and the Insights dashboard if the organization has at least one Enterprise Max user.[1] The help center also records what happens if a feature is switched on by mistake in a smaller organization: Perplexity says it can adjust billing to undo additional charges if the feature is deactivated and the customer gets in touch.[2][4]
Features available more broadly
Single sign-on. SSO is available with Enterprise Pro. An administrator enables SSO under Identity in the organization settings, which is available only for paid organizations, verifies each domain with a DNS TXT record, connects an identity provider and tests the configuration. Only one identity provider is allowed per organization, and users must be invited to the organization to sign in through SSO.[6]
Roles and permissions. Every organization has a built-in Admin role and a Member role applied to everyone, and permissions are additive across roles.[7] Administrators can also control product access, such as who can use Computer or Comet, subject to organization-wide master switches.[7] The roles article states that custom roles, group management and SCIM directory group sync depend on the organization’s plan and that the new Roles & Permissions features are available only on sales-assisted Enterprise plans.[7] Groups can be Perplexity-managed or SCIM-synced, and SCIM-synced groups are read-only in Perplexity.[7] Users deactivated in the identity provider are removed from the organization automatically.[7]
Sharing and downloads. Administrators can choose between public sharing, where anyone with the link can access content, and organizational sharing, where membership is verified. Turning off public sharing does not change existing public threads or pages.[8] The general Download files permission is separate from the control for the organization file repository.[8]
Metrics
The only metric that drives eligibility is the Enterprise seat, as counted in the seats article: Assigned plus Invited seats are in use, and the 50-seat threshold refers to the number of seats in the organization.[12] Perplexity does not define in the pages reviewed whether the threshold counts purchased seats or only assigned members, so organizations close to the line should confirm with their account team. The alternative path, one Enterprise Max seat, depends on holding at least one such seat, and seat tiers are counted separately.[12]
Counting / floors
Audit logs
Audit logs capture end-to-end queries across user input, agent steps and answers, and any settings changes made by an admin. Each entry includes the event type, time, and user details such as email and IP address. Events are delivered in real time by HTTP POST to an HTTPS webhook that the customer configures, optionally with an authorization header sent as a Bearer token or a custom scheme.[3] The webhook is expected to answer with HTTP 2xx, and 4xx or 5xx responses are logged as errors in Perplexity’s system.[3]
SCIM
To set up SCIM an administrator verifies domains first, then connects an identity provider such as Okta, Entra ID or Google Workspace, or uses Custom SCIM. Two groups, one for the member role and one for the admin role, are recommended in the identity provider.[2] Users managed through SCIM cannot be edited in the Perplexity interface, no welcome emails are sent to users added through SCIM, and users who are members of other organizations are excluded from the sync.[2] Because SCIM moves role management to the identity provider, an incorrect role mapping can leave an organization without an admin, and the help center explains how to reassign roles.[2]
Data retention
Files attached to sessions are deleted automatically after seven days. Files in My Files and Projects follow their own retention policies.[4] Organizations that meet the threshold can set a custom session retention period under Data and privacy; sessions whose last activity falls outside the period become inaccessible immediately and are permanently deleted within seven days.[4] Retention is measured from a session’s last activity, not its creation date, so follow-up queries, including recurring tasks, reset the clock; deleted sessions cannot be recovered; and sessions created by members before they joined the organization are not affected.[4] Enforce Incognito Mode retains sessions, including attachments, for 24 hours, during which threads cannot be shared or reached through history.[8] Enterprise Pro’s page states the default seven-day deletion for session files and that organizations with 50 or more seats, or at least one Enterprise Max seat, can set custom session retention periods.[10]
The help center also announces that the organization file repository is being retired: administrators were told to download organization files by October 1, 2026, with remaining files to be deleted after that date, and Projects and personal repositories continue under their own policies.[4][8]
Insights
Insights reports Total Users, Monthly Active Users and Monthly Queries, and charts weekly queries, feature queries (Research, Create files and apps, and projects), query types split between internal files and web-only searches, and user growth. It also lists each user’s queries over the past 7 and 30 days and the invited users. Only organization admins can access it, and data can be filtered and exported.[5]
Virtualization & partitioning
Not applicable. Controls are applied per organization and per role, not per device or host.
Cloud / BYOL
Not applicable. Perplexity Enterprise is a hosted service. Perplexity states that it is SOC 2 Type II certified and refers customers to its Trust Center for certifications and subprocessors.[10][9]
Programs
Premium security features access is the program that describes the threshold. It is a policy in the help center, not a clause of the Enterprise Terms, whose clause on protected health information requires a Business Associate Agreement before such data is processed.[11]
Data use
Perplexity states that Enterprise data is never used to train or fine-tune its models and that its agreements with third-party model providers prohibit training on Perplexity data.[9] The Enterprise Terms contain the contractual commitment that Perplexity will not use customer content to train, retrain, fine-tune or otherwise improve generative AI models.[11] Usage data is collected on an aggregated or anonymized level.[10]
Out of scope
This article does not cover connector-specific security, Comet permission management, the Trust Center documents, the full permissions reference, or Computer’s administrator controls. Features and thresholds change, and the pages referenced here carry last-modified dates in September and October 2026 in several cases, so the account team’s written confirmation should be sought before relying on a threshold for a purchase decision.
