Foxit sells several services alongside Foxit PDF Editor. Foxit eSign is an electronic signature service. The Foxit AI Assistant and Foxit Workspace are AI features that consume credits. Foxit PDF Reader is a free desktop and mobile reader. Foxit API Services are cloud APIs for developers. All of them sit under the Foxit General Terms of Service, effective 2025-06-27. Each also has its own Additional Terms, which prevail over the general terms for that product.[6] For a software asset manager they introduce two consumption units beside the per-user subscription: the envelope and the AI credit. For the overview, see Foxit licensing.

Business-tier features include signable web forms, integrations, advanced authentication, user management, delegation and bulk sending. Bulk sending is capped at 250 a year on Essentials and is unlimited on Business.[1] The eSign pricing page shows structured offer data, but its visible text gives no prices. Prices are therefore not recorded in the catalog. Catalog: eSign Business: minimum five licences; Essentials assigned to one dedicated user.
Metrics
Envelope. Admin Console documentation defines an envelope: it “allows for one or more documents to be sent within one send, even if to multiple signers”.[8] Enterprises may buy a set number of envelopes for a set number of users, who use them after licences are assigned. Licence quotas for eSign can be set with shared or unshared envelope pooling.[8] The eSign pricing FAQ says Foxit eSign does not rely on per-envelope pricing models.[1] In practice this means allowances are bundled into the per-user plan rather than billed per envelope. The Essentials allowance of 250 envelopes a year is still a limit to track.
AI credit. Every Foxit account receives 300 AI credits a month at no cost. The credits work in the AI Assistant in PDF Editor and PDF Reader, and in Foxit Workspace. A paid Foxit AI Assistant subscription gives 2,000 credits a month.[3] Local AI, which runs on the device on supported hardware, uses no credits.[3]
User. eSign and AI Assistant subscriptions are per user. Accounts may not be shared, and a user may not use another person’s account.[6] Catalog: Foxit accounts may not be shared.
Counting / floors
eSign. Count each licensed user. An Essentials licence belongs to one dedicated user.[1] Business needs at least five licences.[1] Volume licensing for eSign is described as for 16 or more licences on the eSign pricing page. The PDF Editor pricing page uses 30 licences for the combined offer.[1][7] Catalog: Volume licensing: 30+ licences (PDF Editor page), up to 30% discount; perpetual and subscription.
AI credits. When several paid AI Assistant licences are managed through Admin Console, their monthly credits combine into one shared pool, which administrators allocate to specific members. Free monthly credits are individual and do not pool.[3] A heavy user can therefore draw more than 2,000 credits without an extra seat, provided the pool covers it. Catalog: Paid AI credits pool across a team through Admin Console; free credits do not.
Perpetual estates. Perpetual versions of PDF Editor do not include the AI Assistant. A free Foxit account still gets 300 credits a month for Workspace, and paid AI Assistant can be added.[3] Catalog: Perpetual PDF Editor does not include the AI Assistant.
Virtualization & partitioning
These services run in Foxit’s cloud. eSign, Workspace in the browser and the AI Assistant’s cloud features are not installed software, so no virtualization rules apply. The Workspace desktop app falls under the Workspace EULA. Like the PDF Editor EULA, it prohibits renting, leasing or lending the Product and treats it as a single integral product whose components may not be split across computers.[4]
Cloud / BYOL
The AI Assistant in PDF Editor and PDF Reader runs on Microsoft Azure AI services. Foxit Workspace lets users switch between models including OpenAI GPT and Google Gemini.[3] Foxit’s AI pricing page says uploaded data is stored temporarily in the region of the request and deleted within 24 to 48 hours.[3] The Workspace EULA states that Foxit will not use customer content to train or fine-tune AI models unless the customer expressly authorizes it.[4] The PDF Editor EULA says AI service access may be suspended or terminated if a user does not fix a policy violation. In some cases the Product itself may be suspended or terminated.[9] No bring-your-own-model or bring-your-own-key terms are published.
Programs
Free trial. eSign Essentials has a 14-day free trial.[1] A trial account is kept for 30 days after the trial expires. All its data, including pending and executed documents, is then deleted.[2]
Volume Licensing. eSign licences can be included in volume orders with PDF Editor and PDF Editor+.[1]
Contract terms
eSign renewal and refunds. Monthly and annual eSign plans renew automatically at the end of the cycle unless the customer gives 14 days’ notice to cancel or change. The renewal is based on the current number of documents and users. No refunds are issued after renewal.[2] First-time annual customers may cancel with a full refund within 14 days, subject to conditions. Cancellation more than 30 days after sign-up is not refundable.[2] Catalog: eSign plans auto-renew unless cancelled 14 days in advance.
eSign data retention. In a paid account, completed, pending and draft documents are kept for six months after deactivation or cancellation and are then deleted. The account can be reactivated within three months.[2] This matters when eSign seats are removed. Signed agreements should be exported before an account is closed. Catalog: eSign paid-account data retained six months after cancellation.
Workspace. The Workspace EULA is dated 2026-09-01. It grants a non-exclusive, nontransferable, non-sublicensable licence and uses the same automatic renewal terms as the PDF Editor EULA.[4] Its compliance clause is the same as the PDF Editor clause. A business must certify compliance within 30 days of a request, and Foxit may inspect records, systems and worksite.[4] Catalog: Business customers must certify compliance within 30 days and allow inspection.
Foxit PDF Reader. Foxit describes the Reader as a free PDF reader “for personal and business use”.[10] Some features reachable from the Reader are paid products under the EULA. Remote access to the DocuSign feature in Foxit PDF Reader and to Rights Management Services needs Foxit’s written consent. Organisational users of RMS must pay RMS encryption and decryption fees.[9] Catalog: Foxit PDF Reader is free for personal and business use; paid add-on features are licensed separately.
Foxit APIs. The API Service Agreement covers the PDF Embed API, the PDF Services API and the PDF Low-Code Platform. It grants a limited, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the API products for software development. Customers may distribute them in object code as part of their own software, but may not distribute source code or place the products under open-source terms.[5] Foxit’s liability for paid API services is capped at the lesser of USD 1,000 and the fees paid in the previous 12 months. Foxit may end the agreement on 10 business days’ notice, after which the customer must stop distributing software that incorporates the services.[5] Catalog: Foxit API licence is for software development; object-code distribution only.
