- Dedicated Hosts are billed per host, expose the number of sockets and physical cores, and support host affinity and targeted placement; Dedicated Instances are billed per instance, give no visibility of sockets, cores or host ID, no affinity, and only partial BYOL support (SQL Server with License Mobility through Software Assurance, and Windows VDA licenses). Both run on hardware dedicated to one customer with no performance, security or physical differences.
