Definition
SLA s.3.6(a): "Any excess of the License Scope is determined by Provider by the use of Globally Unique Identifiers (“GUIDs”)." The ongoing maintenance guide describes the GUID as a random string created on each machine where thinkcell is first used.
Counting rules
thinkcell measures use against the License Scope (Users) by counting GUIDs reported by installations. Where use exceeds the License Scope, thinkcell may estimate the number of excess Users "taking into account the count of GUID as compared to the License Scope" (SLA s.3.6). The same mechanism applies to the AI Scope under the AI Service Agreement (s.4.3). A GUID is a proxy, not the licensed unit: the licence is still counted in Users, and the Licensee may prove within two weeks that the actual number of Users is lower.
