- Definition
- SAM licensing model: "A node-based SAM license governs how many managed nodes can be monitored within your environment, while allowing for an unlimited number of component monitors per node." A managed node can be a server, VM, hypervisor, Nutanix cluster, external node, external API or service.
- Counting rules
- In a SAM-only environment any entity SAM polls directly (WMI, agents, API pollers), including nodes monitored only by Asset Inventory or Hardware Health, is a managed node. With other Platform modules only nodes monitored by SAM application monitors or API pollers count for SAM. A VM polled directly counts once; VMs whose metrics come from the parent hypervisor do not count, the hypervisor does.
