- SAM licensing model: "A component-based SAM license is similar to an NPM license, replacing interfaces for components, based on nodes, volumes, or assigned component monitors — whichever is highest." Each component monitor consumes one license.
- Counting rules
- A typical application monitor has 15 to 25 component monitors. AppInsight applications consume flat rates: Active Directory 50 per domain controller, Exchange 50 per mailbox role server, IIS 30 per server, SQL 50 per database instance. API pollers also consume licences (Windows Scheduled Task Monitor 5 per server). Asset Inventory does not consume SAM licences. Monitors beyond the licence become Not Licensed.
