- Host-locked activation; dongle activation
- Definition
- FactoryTalk Activation Manager Help: "An activation locked to a specific piece of computer hardware and used only on the computer to which it is locked. Examples of computer hardware used for node-locked activation include an Ethernet card, a hard disk drive, or a dongle."
- Counting rules
- The activation file carries HOSTID (the binding) and may be "uncounted", meaning unlimited use on that host. Binding to a dongle lets the dongle activate software on whichever computer it is plugged into. Moving the activation requires a rehost.
- Floors / minimums
- Not all products support node-locked activations.
