- Definition
- HCL PVU policy: "A Processor Value Unit (PVU) is a unit of measure used to differentiate licensing of software Programs on distributed processor technologies (defined by Processor Vendor, Brand, Type and Model Number)." A processor is each processor core on a chip (socket).
- Counting rules
- Full capacity: all activated processor cores in the physical environment at the per-core rating in the PVU table (for example 70, 100 or 120 per core for post-Nehalem Xeon by sockets per server). Sub-capacity: activated virtual cores in eligible environments, capped at physical cores. Public cloud: flat 70 PVU per vCPU (Domino, Connections, Commerce, Leap) or 100 (Digital Experience).
- Floors / minimums
- Minimum 70 PVU per core (Domino, Connections, Commerce, Leap) or 100 (Digital Experience) for configurations using SW or HW acceleration methods.
