- Definition
- Vault documentation: "Anything that connects and authenticates to Vault to accomplish a task is a client." The client count combines entity clients, non-entity clients, certificate (ACME) clients and secret sync clients.
- Counting rules
- CLIENT_COUNT_PER_CLUSTER = unique standard entities + unique constructed entities (non-entity tokens) + unique certificate entities (ACME) + unique synced secrets. Each client counts once per billing period (monthly on HCP, annually self-managed). Vault does not aggregate or de-duplicate clients across clusters. Clients that authenticate across namespace boundaries count as distinct entities; non-entity tokens with the same namespace and policies count as one client (Vault 1.9 and later).
