Wolters Kluwer licensing is a set of divisional contract families, not a single master licence. Wolters Kluwer describes itself in its datasheets as “a global leader in professional information, software solutions, and services” for healthcare, tax and accounting, financial and corporate compliance, legal and regulatory, and corporate performance and ESG, with 2022 revenues of 5.5 billion euros.[1] A licence manager meets a different contract depending on the product line and the country of the contracting entity.

Contracting entities and families
Contracts name different suppliers by region. In the UK and Ireland the supplier is Wolters Kluwer (UK) Limited or Wolters Kluwer (Ireland) Limited trading as CCH Software, and some licensed software (the “Licensed Software”) is distributed under licence from MYOB Technology Pty Limited.[2] In the US, the online content terms bind users to an agreement with CCH Incorporated or its affiliates.[4] Legisway is contracted with CCH Incorporated in its terms.[5]
Metrics in the tax and accounting family
Metrics are product-specific and change by line:
- PCs, workstations, concurrent users, named users, clients, portfolios, tax returns, entities. The UK and Ireland terms define User Entitlement per product from this list.[2] See User Entitlement is counted per product by PCs, concurrent users, named users or volumes.
- Units per cloud service for CCH iFirm, paid in full with no roll-over.[3] See iFirm Units are paid in full and do not roll over.
- Engagement licences (Tax, Attest, Knowledge Coach, Knowledge Coach PCR) for CCH Axcess Engagement.[7]
- Registered users for VitalLaw Client Share.[4]
- Users by User type for Legisway, and company records in bands for CCH Company Secretarial.[5][6]
Commercial patterns across the documents
Several patterns recur and are worth testing in a Wolters Kluwer review:
- Annual terms with notice windows. CCH Software requires 12 weeks written notice before the end of the Minimum Term or Year, CCH iFirm needs 30 days before renewal, and CCH Company Secretarial needs 90 days.[2][3][6] Missing the window means another year.
- Indexed increases. CCH Software may raise the Annual Support Fee each Year by 5% or RPI, whichever is greater, and CCH Company Secretarial may raise Fees at renewal by the greater of 5% and RPI on 30 days notice.[2][6] See Annual Support Fee may rise by 5% or RPI, whichever is greater.
- Restricted mid-term change. iFirm forbids mid-term Unit changes unless the Order says otherwise, and CCH Software allows User Entitlement reductions only at term or Year end.[3][2]
- Scope events. CCH Software lets Wolters Kluwer terminate on 30 days notice unless revised prices are agreed if the customer provides an outsourced service to third parties, or if use substantially increases, for example through a merger or acquisition.[2] Legisway says an assignment cannot enlarge the licence scope, including a material change in organisation size, without the then-current fees.[5] See Wolters Kluwer may reprice or terminate on 30 days notice after outsourcing or a substantial increase in use.
- Audit. Among the documents reviewed, only CCH Company Secretarial contains an express audit right, over the number of companies processed.[6] See Company Secretarial subscription is capped by company records and may be audited. The UK CCH Software terms contain no audit clause, though they bar third-party use.
CCH Tagetik and OneSumX
The CCH Tagetik Cloud datasheet describes corporate performance management on the cloud covering budgeting and planning, financial close and consolidation, disclosure management, ESG and regulatory reporting and corporate tax, and states “99.5% uptime guaranteed and 24-7 monitoring”.[1] The datasheet publishes no licence metric, term or price. The OneSumX brochure describes Managed Cloud Financial Services, in which Wolters Kluwer hosts OneSumX Finance, Risk and Regulatory Reporting in a Virtual Private Cloud on Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services and runs monitoring, updating and maintenance.[8] No metric is published there either. For both, the rows CCH Tagetik Cloud and OneSumX Managed Cloud Financial Services are recorded without a metric. Entitlements for these products sit in customer-specific order documents.
Gaps
Wolters Kluwer’s main website returned a bot challenge to the generic user agent used for this research, so the following documents were not retrieved: the Enablon terms, the UpToDate and Lexidrug subscription and licence terms, and the public product pages for CCH Tagetik and OneSumX on wolterskluwer.com. Claims about them are intentionally absent. Their metrics should be read from the customer’s own Order Form.
Out of scope
This overview does not cover health, legal and regulatory content subscriptions beyond the CCH online terms, other countries’ tax and accounting terms, pricing, data-processing addenda, or the acquisition history of the group.
