SurveyMonkey individual and Team plans are the self-serve editions of the SurveyMonkey survey platform. They are bought on the SurveyMonkey website with a payment card or, on request, by invoice, and they are governed by the Terms of Use rather than a negotiated agreement.[3] A subscription gives one user account (an individual plan) or a set of seats (a Team plan) a set of features and a response allowance for each billing cycle. The plan determines “the set of features, seat types, billing options, and collaboration tools available in your account”.[5]

Individual plans
The pricing page, fetched on 2026-10-08 and served in euros, listed four individual plans.[2]
| Plan | Price shown | Users | Response allowance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | Free | 1 | Limited responses per survey; 10 questions per survey |
| Standard Monthly | EUR 39 per month, billed monthly | 1 | 1,000 per month |
| Advantage Annual | EUR 36 per month, EUR 432 billed annually | 1 | 15,000 per year |
| Premier Annual | EUR 99 per month, EUR 1,188 billed annually | 1 | 40,000 per year |
All paid rows carry the note that additional responses cost EUR 0.10 each and that SurveyMonkey Audience responses are sold separately.[2] The Help Center describes the same ladder in functional terms: Standard Monthly for month-to-month payment, Advantage adding advanced logic such as quotas and randomization, and Premier adding brand control, advanced branching and phone support. It also lists two further paid plans, Starter Annual (offered only as a first-time upgrade, and limiting the responses collected per survey) and Forms (a monthly or annual option that adds form capabilities to the free plan), and states that Select, Gold and Platinum plans are no longer offered.[5] Prices and currency are presented for the visitor’s location, so the table is an example of the structure rather than a global list.
Team plans
Team Advantage and Team Premier bundle several accounts under a primary admin. The pricing page showed Team Advantage at EUR 30 per user per month and Team Premier at EUR 75 per user per month, each starting at three users and billed annually, with 50,000 and 100,000 responses per year.[1] The Survey Platform Terms of Service apply to the “Team Survey Service” under these two plans.[6] The pricing FAQ states that team plans require a minimum of three users and include consolidated billing, user roles and permissions and shared assets.[1]
Metrics
The principal measures are the seat and the response.
Seat. Under the Team Survey Service each end user account that belongs to the subscription is a “seat” or “user”, and the seats together form the “Team”.[6] Each subscription represents one Team; a customer that wants several Teams buys several subscriptions and may ask to transfer a user from one to another.[6] See Seat (Team plan).
Seat types. Two seat types exist on Team Advantage and Team Premier. Full Access seats “have full access survey permissions and can share surveys” and are added one by one; Contributor seats “have limited survey permissions and focus on one section of shared surveys” and are added in bundles of two.[7] The pricing page uses the names Full Access and Analyst: Full Access users create, send, analyze and share surveys, while Analysts can only view, comment on and analyze surveys that are shared with them.[1] The Help Center notes that Full Access and Contributor seats are currently available only to some teams.[8]
Response. A response is one survey taker’s submission, with any status including incomplete or deleted.[4] See Response.
Counting and floors
Seats
- One person per account. Accounts may not be shared and may be used by one individual only.[3] Each user may also register up to two devices at a time.[1]
- Minimum. Three users for a Team plan.[1]
- Purchase quantities. Full Access seats are sold individually and Contributor seats in bundles of two; a primary admin can buy up to 20 Full Access seats and up to 12 Contributor seats at a time, and larger quantities go through sales.[8]
- Team Summary. The My Team page reports seats used (active, invited or reassignment pending accounts), seats available (paid but unused) and team size (their sum), which is the quantity that matters for renewal.[9]
- Owning surveys. Contributor seats cannot own surveys, so a user moving to a Contributor seat may first need to transfer or delete their surveys; Analysts also cannot use integrations or direct API access.[7]
- Minors. A customer may not provision seats to minors, defined as individuals under 16 or a higher age where local rules provide.[6]
Team overages
If the number of end users exceeds the units purchased, the additional units are charged at the per-unit price on the underlying subscription, prorated for the remaining term, and they renew or terminate with the subscription. Units cannot be decreased during a term.[6] The Help Center describes the operational form of this rule: inviting more people than there are seats available is charged as an additional account for each invitation, prorated for the time left in the subscription, and the charge is made when the invitation is sent whether or not it is accepted. Reassigning an account, deleting an account and refilling the seat, and cancelling or resending an invitation carry no further charge.[8] If a payment is outstanding, the invitation function is blocked until invoices are paid.[9] See Team overages (seat invitations).
Responses
On paid plans response limits are counted across all surveys and all users, and the count resets each billing cycle with no rollover of unused responses.[1] [3] Overage Fees apply when a paid Subscription’s response limit is exceeded in a billing cycle; they are billed in arrears at the start of the next cycle, and Overage Fees unpaid for 30 days are overdue and can lead to the service being limited, suspended or terminated.[3] The rate depends on currency: the pricing page showed EUR 0.10 per additional response, and the Help Center states USD 0.15, adding that all responses including deleted ones count towards the overage and that the overage appears on a separate invoice from the renewal.[1] [4]
Basic plan limits
Basic accounts see only a set number of responses per survey. Under the Terms of Use, responses over the Basic limit are not viewable and are deleted per the retention policy unless the customer upgrades to a paid plan; the same applies after a downgrade from a paid plan, even to responses collected under the paid plan.[3] The Help Center adds that over-limit responses are deleted on request or automatically one year after collection, and that SurveyMonkey support can be contacted for access to specific over-limit responses needed for legal obligations such as a data subject request.[4] See Basic (free) plan.
Virtualization and partitioning
Not applicable: the service is hosted by SurveyMonkey and there is no installed component.
Cloud and BYOL
Not applicable. There is no bring-your-own-licence right; a plan is an entitlement to the hosted service under the terms in force.
Programs
Auto-renewing subscription
Subscriptions are billed in advance for a billing cycle, typically monthly or annual, and renew automatically at the end of each cycle unless the customer cancels auto-renewal; cancelling lets the subscription run to the end of the cycle, after which the account becomes a Basic (free) plan.[3] Team subscriptions renew every 12 months, and the renewal amount depends on the team size at renewal; a team that wants fewer seats must contact SurveyMonkey before renewal.[8] For customers paying by invoice, an invoice is emailed 45 days before the next billing date.[10] If a team misses a payment, all accounts on the team downgrade to a free plan and the team is broken apart.[10] When a Team Survey Service ends for any reason, every end user account including the primary admin account is converted to an individual account under the Terms of Use, and the customer may lose control of those accounts; the customer is responsible for reassigning accounts, changing credentials and exporting data before that happens.[6] See Self-serve subscription (auto-renew).
Price changes and refunds
SurveyMonkey may change fees at any time, but for Subscriptions a change takes effect only at the end of the current billing cycle, with advance notice and the right to cancel before it takes effect.[3] Fees are non-refundable except as the Terms provide or law requires, and a mid-cycle cancellation is refunded only for an uncured material breach by SurveyMonkey, where required by law, or at SurveyMonkey’s discretion.[3]
Inactivity
SurveyMonkey may close an account and delete its content if there is no activity (such as a log in or payment) for over 12 months.[3]
