SurveyMonkey Enterprise is the edition of the SurveyMonkey platform sold through SurveyMonkey’s enterprise sales team. The Help Center describes the plan as having the same core features as the Premier plan, with added user administration, enhanced security and compliance features and access to more integrations; a customer that worked with the sales team to create its account likely has an Enterprise plan.[10] Unlike the self-serve plans, which are governed by the Terms of Use, Enterprise is governed by the Governing Services Agreement (GSA) with one or more Order Forms and service-specific terms (SSTs).[11] The pricing page lists Enterprise as a plan for five or more users with unlimited surveys and questions, a custom response limit, a US, Canada or EU data centre, centralized billing and single sign-on, and invites contact with sales rather than showing a price.[9]
Editions
SurveyMonkey publishes one Enterprise offering, Enterprise. Its composition is set on the Order Form, which can name different seat types, response quantities and add-on services. The Enterprise page answers two questions that bear on the entitlement. On seats, “Enterprise plans are best suited for teams with 5 or more users”. On responses, customers “can purchase flexible response bundles, or choose an Enterprise plan that includes unlimited survey responses”.[4] The Help Center states separately that Enterprise plans have annual response limits.[5] The contracted position is therefore whatever the Order Form says, and public pages describe options rather than a standard entitlement.
Metrics
Subscription units
The GSA does not define a single metric. It refers to “subscription units”, giving as examples seats, responses, programs, websites, apps or packages, and an Order Form may add units during a term.[1] See Subscription unit.
Seat types
Enterprise teams use seat types that differ from the self-serve Team plans.[3]
| Seat | Roles | Capabilities |
|---|---|---|
| Power | Primary Admin, Admin, Division Admin, Power User | Unlimited questions, advanced question types, logic, branding, advanced collectors, integrations and direct API access, advanced analysis, phone support |
| Casual | Casual User | Simple features; 10 questions per survey; essential question types; no logic; standard themes; web link collector only; email and chat support only |
Some Enterprise teams have a set number of Power seats and unlimited Casual seats, and the customer can check with its Customer Success Manager whether Casual seats are included.[3] Enterprise teams on a legacy plan see Full Access and Starter seats instead, with Primary Admin, Admin, Division Admin and Full User roles on Full Access seats and a Starter User role on Starter seats.[3] The metric rows are Power seat and Casual seat.
Seat bundles
The Enterprise service-specific terms add that if an Order Form identifies a seat type as sold in a bundle, those seats “cannot be purchased individually and must be purchased in bundles of seats of the quantity identified”. The terms give the example of Starter seats sold in bundles of 100: if a review finds 101 limited seats, the customer is billed for an additional bundle of 100, prorated for the full months remaining in the Term.[2] This is the closest the documents come to describing an exceedance review. See Seat bundle (Enterprise).
Responses
On the pricing page the Enterprise column shows “Custom response limit”.[9] The help article on account response limits states that Enterprise plans have annual response limits and refers customers to sales or their Customer Success Manager.[5] The self-serve overage rate does not appear in the GSA; the overage mechanism is instead the usage-review clause described below.
Counting and floors
- Order Forms and Affiliates. The parties may enter into Order Forms under the GSA. A customer’s Affiliates may also enter into Order Forms, each is a separate contract, and the customer that signs for Affiliates is responsible and liable for their acts and use of the Services, and each Affiliate must be individually listed on the Order Form.[1]
- Licence. For services sold as a subscription, SurveyMonkey grants a non-exclusive, non-transferable worldwide right to access and use the Services during the subscription term.[1]
- End Users. “End Users” are the customer’s employees, agents, independent contractors and other individuals authorized by the customer to access and use the Services, so contractor access falls inside the right provided each person has an authorized account.[1]
- Adding units. An Order Form may add subscription units mid-term at the then-current per-unit pricing; the added units renew or terminate on the same date as the underlying subscription. Units relating to a Service cannot be decreased during the subscription term.[1]
- Usage review. During the term SurveyMonkey may review usage and discuss purchasing additional units, and the customer agrees to pay for additional units at then-current pricing.[1]
- Seat changes. An admin can change a user’s Power seat to Casual once every 90 days and can switch the user back to Power at any time; a user changed to Casual keeps surveys that already have more than 10 questions collecting responses but cannot add questions or new collectors.[3]
- Reassignment. Reassigning a seat to another person who is not on the team, with its surveys and data, does not trigger a new charge because the seat was already paid for.[12]
Virtualization and partitioning
Not applicable: SurveyMonkey Enterprise is a hosted service. Within a customer account, Enterprise administrators can organize users into Divisions (sub-groups with their own admins, users and library), which affects administration and branding rather than the count of licensed seats.[12]
Cloud and BYOL
There is no bring-your-own-licence right. Hosting location is a service option: the Help Center states data centres exist in the United States, Canada and Ireland and that Enterprise teams may have the option to store survey and response data in a regional data centre, and that account consolidation into an Enterprise team is available for US data centre accounts only.[8] The consolidation process lets a Primary Admin invite existing individual and team account holders into the Enterprise account, which is how self-purchased accounts are brought under one contract.[8]
Identity features
Single sign-on is an Enterprise feature. SurveyMonkey’s SSO follows the SAML 2.0 specification and is service-provider initiated, and only one identity provider is supported per Enterprise team.[6] SCIM provisioning, described as a beta feature, is available only to Enterprise teams that have SSO set up, and only the Primary Admin can configure it; role and seat assignment and account deletion remain administered inside SurveyMonkey.[7]
Programs
Governing Services Agreement and Order Form
The GSA is the master agreement; its term continues until either party terminates on 30 days’ written notice, and each Order Form has its own subscription term.[1] Unless either party gives written notice of non-renewal at least 30 days before the end of the then-current term, the subscription automatically renews for one year or the period stated on the Order Form.[1] Renewal fee uplifts are noted on the initial Order Form or, if not specified, set by pricing communicated in writing with 30 days’ notice; multi-year orders and renewals are invoiced annually.[1] Payment obligations are non-cancelable and fees paid are not refundable, except as the agreement provides.[1] Interest on overdue undisputed amounts accrues at 1.5% per month, and services may be limited or suspended where an undisputed amount is 30 days or more overdue.[1] See Governing Services Agreement and Order Form.
Termination and downgrade
If an Order Form is terminated by the customer for SurveyMonkey’s material breach, SurveyMonkey provides a pro rata refund of prepaid fees for the period after termination; if terminated by SurveyMonkey for the customer’s breach, the customer remains liable for the full subscription fee outstanding and for fees covering the remainder of the term.[1] When the Enterprise subscription terminates, all End User accounts including admin accounts are downgraded to the lowest tier of individual accounts or to a trial of SurveyMonkey Teams, and SurveyMonkey generally will not transfer control of a downgraded account without the end user’s authorization.[2]
EU Data Act switching
The Enterprise terms include an EU Data Act clause. A customer may start switching to another provider by two months’ written notice before the end of the term specified on an Order Form; the switching period runs 90 days (120 days if extended) from receipt of a complete notice but ends before the end of the term. Assistance beyond normal access is charged at professional services rates, and switching is deemed termination for convenience by the customer, so the agreement’s fee provisions on termination apply in full, including for multi-annual contracts.[2]
Contracting entity
Under the GSA, a customer located in the United States contracts with SurveyMonkey Inc. (governing law California, venue San Francisco) and a customer anywhere else contracts with SurveyMonkey Europe UC (governing law Ireland, venue Dublin).[1]
