SailPoint licensing is the set of terms under which SailPoint sells identity security and identity governance software: the cloud-delivered Identity Security Cloud suites, the Agentic suites for human and non-human identities, the on-premises IdentityIQ product and a set of add-on capabilities. SailPoint offers SaaS Services, on-premises Software and training under one Framework Customer Agreement, and states that SaaS is provided through multi-year subscriptions and on-premises Software on a term-license basis, with Premium Support included in the subscription and licence fees.[1] The agreement is between the customer and SailPoint Technologies, Inc., a Delaware corporation, on behalf of itself and any Affiliates performing under it.[2]
SailPoint publishes no price list. Prices, quantities, the licence metrics and the Order Term come from the Order.[2] What SailPoint does publish is a set of definitions that decide what is counted and a set of suite tables that state what each suite includes and how much of certain platform capacity it allows.[3][4]
Editions
SailPoint’s packaging has two generations on its public pages. The documentation still lists the Identity Security Cloud suites Foundations, Standard, Business and Business Plus, plus Atlas Enterprise, with the table last updated on 2026-05-14.[4] The suites page and the Customer Agreements documentation, last updated on 2026-08-04, add the Agentic Business and Agentic Business Plus suites, which cover human and non-human identities.[5][6]

Existing Identity Security Cloud customers who want agentic governance upgrade to Agentic Business or Agentic Business Plus.[6] Add-on capabilities, which the suites page lists as available or included depending on the suite, are described in SailPoint add-ons and advanced capabilities licensing.[6]
Metrics
SailPoint’s Identity Security products are singularly licensed by Identity, according to identity profiles that reflect the type of identity that an Identity Cube represents.[3]
| Metric | Definition |
|---|---|
| Identity [-IU] | A Person, Non-human Account or AI Agent who has access within the governed environment or is managed by the SaaS services.[3] |
| Lite Identity [-LU] | A Person or Machine whose access is limited to five Sources.[3] |
| Inactive Identity | An Identity or Lite Identity whose Identity State is inactive, or whose Non-Employee Risk Management profile is archived.[3] |
| Non-human Account | A built-in account, device, service account, automation, workload or other non-human mechanism, excluding AI Agents.[3] |
| AI Agent | An agent, assistant, agentic workflow or other AI-based software system; treated as a separate identity type for pricing.[3] |
| Source | A target system governed by the offerings; five Sources is the Lite Identity boundary.[3] |
The Framework Customer Agreement defines a User as a Person or Machine authorised by or on behalf of the customer, which may include the customer’s and its Affiliates’ employees, consultants, clients, external users, contractors, agents and third parties.[2] The documentation notes that references to identities in the Human Fabric documentation refer to persons and machines unless indicated otherwise.[7]
Counting and floors
- Inactive allowance. In addition to Active Identities, a customer may store Inactive Identities up to 30 percent of the combined total of licensed Identities and Lite Identities.[3]
- Lite boundary. A Lite Identity is limited to five Sources. The deprecated definitions called the counterpart an Internal Identity, a machine or person with access to more than five Sources.[3][8]
- Non-human allotment. For Agentic Business and Agentic Business Plus, customers receive an initial one-time allotment of five non-human identities for each human identity. The ratio is subject to change before General Availability but not to fall below 5:1 on General Availability or afterwards.[6]
- Platform capacity. The suite tables state tenant-level limits, for example 15 enabled workflows with 20 steps for Standard, 50 with 50 for Business, 200 with 100 for Business Plus and 300 with 100 for Atlas Enterprise, with older limits for customers whose order was executed before 2025-11-01.[4]
Virtualization and partitioning
The documents retrieved define no processor, core or hypervisor rules. The licence unit is the identity, so partitioning questions arise only for IdentityIQ instances: SailPoint provides Software Support for a single production instance, and a redundant or mirror site for backup, load share or archive does not count as a separate instance.[9] Required Software, where provided to connect Sources to the SaaS Services, is a virtual machine that connects the customer’s Sources using public APIs, connectors and integrations.[3]
Cloud and self-hosted
SailPoint SaaS Services are internet-accessible software-as-a-service offerings hosted by SailPoint or its service providers, and Software is the object code purchased and licensed under an Order or provided in connection with operating the SaaS Services.[2] The right to use runs during the Order Term and is limited to the customer’s internal business operations in accordance with the Documentation.[2] For the SaaS Services SailPoint’s support policy states an availability commitment of at least 99.9 percent in each calendar month of a paid-up SaaS Term.[9]
Programs
- Acceptable Use Limits. Orders executed before 2025-11-01 keep a Prior Usage Allowance until the next renewal; new orders and later renewals follow the Acceptable Use Limits.[4]
- Premium Support. Included for no additional fee during the Order Term, with Supplemental Support available for an additional fee.[9]
- Evaluation Agreement. A 30-day sandbox evaluation without support or warranty.[10]
- Partner Fleet Program. Partners resell SailPoint Offerings or provide managed services for them under a Partner Schedule.[11]
- Usage verification. SailPoint may verify use against active Orders, and SaaS use is monitored against entitlement.[2]
Terms for each are in SailPoint contract, support and evaluation terms.
Audits and compliance
The Framework Customer Agreement gives SailPoint the right to verify use of the SailPoint Offerings against the customer’s current use rights and licences under all active Orders. For Software, verification requests are limited to once per calendar year. For SaaS Services SailPoint actively monitors usage against entitlement, and a customer that exceeds its rights agrees to pay all fees needed to meet its actual usage within 60 days of written notice.[2] The practical consequence is that the identity count in the tenant is the primary evidence, and the definitions page decides which identities belong in it.
Out of scope
This overview does not cover prices, which SailPoint does not publish, or the individual terms of partner agreements, which are set in each Partner Schedule.
