Redis Cloud plans and agreement

This article covers the managed Redis Cloud service: the Free, Essentials (including Redis Flex) and Pro plans, how they are priced and limited, Committed Expenditure, Bring Your Own Cloud, Marketplace purchases, and the Redis Cloud Agreement and Cloud Support Policy. For self-managed Redis Software see Redis Software licensing.

Redis Cloud is the managed database service of Redis Ltd., available on AWS, Azure and Google Cloud and sold directly or through partner marketplaces.[2] It is governed by the Redis Cloud Agreement, “Also known as the Redis EULA”, last updated 2026-05-15. The agreement takes effect when a Transaction is completed, whether through an Order Form, an online order or a Marketplace.[1] Redis Cloud is offered as Free, Essentials (including Redis Flex) and Pro plans. Pricing is on demand for all plans, with an annual option for Pro.[3][2]

Free plans are Essentials plans “designed for training purposes and prototyping”.[3] The Free card on the pricing page lists a best-effort SLA and community support.[2] Paid Essentials plans add replication, auto-failover, TLS authentication and the REST API, with up to 99.99% uptime and basic support only.[3][2] Pro adds dedicated VPC hosting, Active-Active geo-replication, auto-tiering, private connectivity and up to 99.999% uptime. Its pricing is “pay as you go” to support any dataset size or throughput.[3][2] Redis Cloud Pro annual plans “support the same features as Redis Cloud Pro but at significant savings”, include Premium support, and apply one commitment “to all workloads across multiple providers and regions”.[3]

Metrics

  • Database memory size. “Essentials plan pricing scales according to the memory size of the database defined in the subscription.”[4]
  • Hourly usage. Essentials and Pro prices are quoted per hour. Data transfer is “Included in price, limited” on Free and Essentials and “Usage based” on Pro.[2]
  • Committed Expenditure. “The total expenditure committed by Customer for all Commercial Subscriptions of the Cloud Services during the Subscription Term, as specified in the applicable Transaction.”[1]

Counting / floors

Essentials limits. Each Essentials size has its own limits on concurrent connections per database, CIDR allow rules, monthly network bandwidth and maximum throughput. The current 250 MB plan, for example, allows 256 connections, 100 GB of monthly bandwidth and 1,000 ops/sec. The 12 GB plan allows 10,000 connections, 2,000 GB and 16,000 ops/sec.[4] The bandwidth limit “applies to the entire plan”, shared by all its databases. Redis will “notify you before limiting your database usage” if limits are exceeded.[4] Catalog proof: Essentials plans cap connections, bandwidth and throughput per plan size.

Replication doubles memory. “For both Redis Cloud Essentials and Redis Cloud Pro, replication requires a memory limit that is double the dataset size of your database.” For Essentials, the plan size includes replication, so a 1 GB plan with replication holds 512 MB of data. For Pro, the memory limit is calculated from the chosen dataset size and replication settings.[5] Multi-zone settings for Pro are fixed when the subscription is created. Changing them means a new subscription and a data migration.[5] Catalog proof: High availability doubles the capacity or memory that must be licensed.

Minimums and commitments. Pro on-demand has a “*Minimum $200 /month”.[2] Under the Cloud Agreement, “Redis charges for the Cloud Services based on Customer’s Committed Expenditure and actual usage”. The customer “shall pay the Committed Expenditure regardless of its level of use”, and Network Charges are passed through.[1] A shortfall against an annual commitment is therefore not refunded. For the general model see consumption credits and prepaid capacity. Catalog proof: Redis Cloud Pro on-demand pricing has a USD 200 monthly minimum; Redis Cloud Committed Expenditure is payable regardless of use.

Agreement terms

Access and use. Redis makes the Cloud Services available “up to the number of Cloud Services units specified in a Transaction”. Affiliates may use the customer’s services or sign their own Transactions, with the customer responsible for their compliance.[1] Customers may not resell, timeshare or “otherwise make any of it available for access by third parties except as otherwise expressly provided in a Transaction”. They may not use the service to build competing products for third parties, run or publish benchmarks without approval, or process unencrypted sensitive personal data as defined in the GDPR.[1] Catalog proof: Redis Cloud may not be resold, timeshared or made available to third parties; No publication of benchmarks without Redis approval.

Fees. Fees are in US dollars unless stated otherwise. Payment obligations are “non-cancelable” and payments “non-refundable”. Overdue amounts carry a late charge of up to 1.5% per month.[1] A card on file may be charged a recurring monthly fee based on the online price list.[1]

Marketplaces and Partners. A customer buying through a Marketplace or Partner pays that channel directly, but “is responsible for full payment of fees for the Subscription Term, regardless of usage or billing terms between Customer and the Marketplace or Partner”. Redis may invoice any shortfall directly.[1] Redis may also enforce its use terms where a violation arises from the Partner agreement.[1] Catalog proof: Marketplace and Partner buyers remain liable for full Subscription Term fees.

Evaluations. Evaluation Services and Previews run 30 days unless stated otherwise and may not be used in production. Inactive evaluation instances may be deleted after 14 days. Overuse may be converted into a Commercial Subscription at list rates.[1] Catalog proof: Evaluations last 30 days; overuse may be converted to a paid subscription at list rates.

Records inspection and amendments. “Redis may inspect Customer’s records relating to its use of the Cloud Services to verify compliance with this Agreement for up to 1 year following termination.”[1] Redis may amend the agreement by posting a revised version or by email, and continued use means acceptance.[1] Catalog proof: Redis may inspect usage records for up to one year after termination.

Suspension and termination. Redis may suspend access for violations, including non-payment, or for security risks. The customer gets no credit for the suspension period.[1] After all Transactions end, either party may terminate on 30 days’ notice. On termination the customer can retrieve Customer Data, after which Redis may delete it.[1]

Virtualization & partitioning

Not applicable. Redis Cloud is priced by plan, memory, hours and commitment, not by the underlying infrastructure. Essentials runs on shared infrastructure and Pro on dedicated infrastructure.[2]

Cloud / BYOL

Bring Your Own Cloud. Appendix 1 of the Cloud Agreement covers Cloud Services that run on virtual machines and storage in the customer’s own cloud account. Redis provisions and operates these Resources. The customer must grant Redis a permission that “shall remain continuously enabled at the highest level of user permissions available”, and must not access the Redis-managed Resources.[1] On Redis’s written request, the customer must report the Resources and Cloud Services used. Any excess is invoiced as a prorated True-up Fee at the agreed unit price or current list price.[1] Removing Resources or changing IAM permissions lets Redis suspend or terminate the Transaction after a three-day notice period.[1] BYOC is therefore not bring-your-own-licence. It is a deployment location for the same service, with a true-up mechanism added. Catalog proof: BYOC deployments report usage on request and pay True-up Fees for excess.

Redis Software licences cannot be applied to Redis Cloud, and neither agreement provides for conversion between them.[1][7]

Programs

Support. The Redis Support Packages (Basic, Developer, Business, Enterprise, Premium Enterprise) apply to paid Cloud Services, and not to free services or previews.[6] The available package “is determined by Customer’s total annual Cloud Services fees”. One package applies to all of the customer’s Cloud Services.[6] Depending on the package, the published response time for a P1 issue ranges from 8 business hours to 15 minutes.[6] The Cloud Agreement makes support “automatically included” with the service and “not separable” from it.[1]

Tools. Redis Insight and Redis for VS Code are commercially licensed to paying customers.[7]
