LastPass Teams, Business and Business Max are the business editions of the LastPass password manager. Each is a subscription to a hosted service with an Admin Console, licensed per user for a term. A direct purchase is governed by the Terms of Service for Business Customers, under which the customer may use the Services “for business and professional purposes” and is responsible for the activities of all users who access the Services through its account.[1]
Editions
The pricing page presents three business tiers, each billed annually per user with a 14-day trial.[2]
| Plan | Described as | Price shown (EUR, per user per month, billed annually) | User limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Teams | Simple credential management for small teams and startups | 4.42 | Up to 50 users |
| Business | Effortless password and access management for small and medium-size businesses | 6.50 | Unlimited |
| Business Max | Advanced protection and secure access for any business with more admin control | 10.00 | Unlimited |
The comparison table gives further differences. Security policies number 25 on Teams and more than 100 on Business and Business Max; reporting is basic on Teams and advanced on Business and Business Max; SSO integration is limited to 3 apps on Business and unlimited on Business Max.[2] Business adds group user management and LastPass Families for employees to the Teams feature set (an admin console, shared folders and essential security policies). Business Max adds AI Monitoring and Protect, SaaS Monitoring and Protect, Web Monitoring and Protect (some listed as beta or coming soon on the page), an unlimited number of SSO apps and advanced MFA capabilities.[2]
The Help Center spells out the Business Max additions: Advanced SSO, which “allows the usage of an unlimited number of SSO apps, versus 3 in LastPass Business”; Advanced MFA, covering the vault, SSO apps, VPNs, third-party identity provider integrations and workstations, including passwordless login and contextual policies; the LastPass Universal Proxy, an on-premises component; and Workstation MFA. It adds that a smartphone is required to use the features in Advanced MFA.[4] The terms Advanced SSO and Advanced MFA also survive as add-on names in the managed service provider billing report, where they appear as “paid add-ons” per managed company.[8]
Metrics
User licence
The unit is the user licence. The Help Center notes that “While LastPass Teams is limited to 50 licenses, LastPass Business can have an unlimited number of licenses.”[3] The metric rows are Teams user licence, Business user licence and Business Max user licence. Individual user accounts may not be shared amongst multiple individuals, so a licence corresponds to a named person, and the customer warrants authority to bind affiliates that use the Services and is liable for their compliance.[1]
The purchase page for licences shows the figures an administrator can use to reconcile the position: total valid licences, licences in use, licences available, the number of users in the company and the expiration date of the account.[3]
SSO application limit
Business includes SSO for up to three applications, and Business Max removes the limit (SSO app limit).[2] [4]
Families as a Benefit
Business and Business Max users can claim a complimentary LastPass Families account, which is a personal account with 5 additional licences that the user can grant to family or friends.[10] The pricing page lists “LastPass Families for employees” under Business.[2] See Families as a Benefit licence.
Counting and floors
- Review and additional fees. LastPass “may periodically review your account and charge you additional fees if the number of users exceeds your purchased quantity”.[1]
- Added licences. Admins can purchase more licences after signing up (trial or paid); the cost is prorated for the remainder of the billing period, and all licences, existing and new, then share the same expiration date.[3]
- Renewal quantity. All licences purchased are renewed at the annual renewal date, including those not actively used. LastPass recommends buying only the number expected to be used, and reductions require contacting Support.[5]
- Payment terms. Fees are payable within 30 days of the invoice date or at purchase when buying online; payments are final and non-refundable except where otherwise specified; fee disputes must be raised within 30 days of the invoice date; and a Purchase Order is required for non-credit-card transactions over USD 25,000 unless the customer’s process does not require one.[1]
Virtualization and partitioning
Not applicable. The service is hosted and counts users. The Universal Proxy and Workstation MFA components install on customer systems, but the documents reviewed do not tie any licence count to them beyond the Business Max user entitlement.[4]
Cloud and BYOL
Not applicable.
Programs
Auto-renewing Renewal Term
The subscription starts on the Effective Date of the Order and continues for the Initial Term on the Order. It then renews for additional twelve-month Renewal Terms unless the Order states otherwise or either party gives notice of non-renewal at least 30 days before the term expires; notice can be given at any time through the support site. Terminating one Order does not affect other Orders.[1] Price changes take effect at the end of the then-current subscription term, and promotional pricing may expire at renewal.[1] See Auto-renewing Renewal Term (Business).
Manual renewal and complimentary licences
An administrator can renew manually from the Company profile page from 30 days before expiry; manual renewal does not change the billing cycle date, and no paid days are lost. The procedure does not apply to complimentary licences, which must be renewed through Support even where paid and complimentary licences are mixed.[6]
Upgrades and cancellation
A Teams customer that wants Business or Business Max contacts Sales; the remaining paid period is prorated towards the new subscription.[7] See Plan upgrade with proration. Because subscriptions are prepaid, cancelling means the subscription expires at the end of the billing period without a refund, and the plan features remain until then.[9] If the Agreement or Services end, the account may be converted to a free or basic version at LastPass’s discretion; otherwise use stops, except that on request LastPass provides limited access for up to 30 days to retrieve or delete data.[1]
Trials
The business trial lasts 14 days and gives access to all paid features; the Business Max features are included in the trial, after which the customer chooses Business Max or Business.[2] [4] See Free trial.
Managed service providers
An MSP has a primary MSP account and managed companies. The MSP Admin Console’s daily licence count lists, for each company and each day, the licence type (LastPass MSP, LastPass MSP Internal Use or LastPass MSP Managed Company), the paid add-ons active (Advanced MFA and Advanced SSO), the consumed user licences and the change from the previous day; it can be exported as CSV.[8] This shows that MSP billing is based on a daily consumed-licence count rather than the annual licence purchase used for direct customers. See MSP consumed licence and MSP licence programme.

This article does not cover MSP price lists, which are not public in the documents reviewed, purchases through the AWS Marketplace or other partners (covered by separate terms noted on the legal centre page), or the detail of each Business Max monitoring feature. It does not address security configuration or data protection.
