Kinaxis Inc. is a Canadian software company that sells Maestro, a platform for supply chain planning and decision-making that it formerly marketed as RapidResponse. Maestro was introduced on 2024-06-18 as the next evolution of RapidResponse.[5] Kinaxis sells the platform on a subscription basis. Its filings describe a cloud-delivered subscription as the norm and a smaller group of long-standing customers who license the subscription product on-premise.[2] Kinaxis publishes no price list, no standard SaaS Agreement and no definition of its user types. The public record for a software asset manager is therefore made of three things: statements in Kinaxis financial filings about how the subscription is priced, the Trust Center page that lists the contract documents, and product, services and legal pages. This article summarises what those documents say and where they stop.
Editions
Kinaxis does not publish an edition ladder in the manner of a database or desktop vendor. The commercial offers visible on its website are the following.
- Maestro and its applications. The core platform, with applications for planning domains such as demand, supply, inventory and sales and operations planning. See Kinaxis Maestro platform and applications. The catalogue records the offer as Maestro (RapidResponse) subscription.
- Planning One. A packaged entry offering for mid-sized and emerging enterprises, covering demand planning, supply planning, inventory management and operational planning, started with Kinaxis RapidStart or a certified partner approach.[6] See Planning One.
- Maestro Agents and Maestro Agent Studio. AI capabilities embedded in Maestro. Maestro Agents were announced as available to Kinaxis customers and embedded natively in Maestro.[7] Maestro Agent Studio gives teams a no-code way to compose their own agents.[9] See Kinaxis Maestro Agents and AI licensing.
- Maestro Solver Studio and Advanced Solver Studio. An extensibility layer for custom decision logic, with Gurobi-powered optimization in the advanced tier.[10]
- Services. Standard support, an optional Premier Support, implementation services including RapidStart, learning subscriptions, certification and partner-delivered services.[11][12]
No public document states which applications or capabilities are bundled in which offer, so entitlement questions are answered by the customer’s own contract documents.
Metrics
Kinaxis does not publish a licence metrics guide. The best public statement is in a financial filing: the subscription fee “generally depends on the size of our customer, the number of applications deployed, the number of users and the number of licensed manufacturing, distribution and inventory sites”.[2] An earlier filing says Kinaxis typically enters organization-wide subscription agreements, with pricing based on the number of end users in the customer’s organization and on the applications, sites and environments requested.[3] The catalogue therefore records five pricing inputs:
| Input | Catalogue row | What the sources say |
|---|---|---|
| Users | Subscription users | End users in the customer organization are a pricing input; no user types are defined publicly.[3] |
| Applications | Applications deployed | The number of applications deployed affects the fee.[2] |
| Sites | Licensed sites | The number of licensed manufacturing, distribution and inventory sites affects the fee.[2] |
| Environments | Environments | Environments requested by the customer are a pricing input.[3] |
| Customer size | Customer size | The size of the customer is named as a driver; no measure is given.[2] |
Both filings date from 2018. Kinaxis has since changed its product name, delivery model and AI capabilities, so these statements describe a basis, not the present contract terms.
Counting and floors
No Kinaxis document published on kinaxis.com sets a counting rule, a minimum quantity or a rounding rule. Quantities are not public. The Trust Center describes an Order Form as supporting the SaaS Agreement, and that is where a customer’s commercial terms would be expected.[1] Kinaxis training pages describe four Maestro roles, Consumer, Contributor, Author and Administrator, for learning paths, and the certification programme has paths for Administrators, Authors and Contributors.[16] The public pages do not state that these roles are licence types or that they are priced differently. A licence manager should therefore not assume a named-user, concurrent-user or role-based metric without reading the Order Form. See named-user licensing for how those metrics are normally defined.
Virtualization and partitioning
Maestro is described as a cloud-based SaaS offering delivered from private and public cloud infrastructures in North America, Europe and Asia, using a single-tenant model.[1] Because customers do not install and run the software on their own servers in the SaaS case, processor, core and virtualization rules do not arise. For the on-premise subscription customers mentioned in Kinaxis filings, no virtualization or partitioning policy is published.
Cloud and BYOL
There is no bring-your-own-licence mechanism in the public documents. Kinaxis states that its public cloud hosting uses Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure, and its private cloud co-locates infrastructure in third-party data centres, primarily with Equinix.[1] Those are hosting arrangements run by Kinaxis. They do not give the customer a licence to run Maestro in its own cloud account.
Programs
- Organization-wide subscription agreement. Subscription terms of up to five years, a monthly fee typically prepaid yearly, and no obligation to renew, as described in 2018 filings.[3] See Kinaxis subscription contracts and term licences.
- On-premise subscription term licence. For certain customers who licence the subscription product on-premise.[2]
- Premier Support. A paid tier above the standard support included for every customer.[11]
- RapidStart. A 12-week implementation approach.[12]
- Forward Deployed Engineering. An engineering-led engagement model available for selected customer engagements through account teams.[15]
Audits and compliance
No public Kinaxis document describes a licence audit or usage verification process. The Kinaxis website terms of use cover the kinaxis.com website and explicitly exclude the SaaS offerings, which are governed by separate agreements.[14] The only audit language published is in the Data Processing Agreement: a customer may verify Kinaxis compliance with its technical and organizational measures once a year under an agreed audit plan.[13] That clause runs from the customer to Kinaxis. A 2018 filing says Kinaxis generally licenses its software under agreements that prohibit reverse engineering, limit the use of software copies and restrict access to source code.[3] Whether the Order Form or SaaS Agreement lets Kinaxis verify usage is a question for the signed documents. See software license audit for the general pattern.
Out of scope
- The SaaS Agreement, Order Form, Support Guide, Security Guide and availability SLA, which the Trust Center names but which are not published.[1]
- Prices. Kinaxis publishes no price list, and its filings give only aggregate figures such as Annual Recurring Revenue of USD 465.6 million at 2026-06-30.[4]
- Partner agreements and reseller terms, which are held on the Kinaxis Knowledge Network behind a login.
- Third-party products that interoperate with Maestro, including partner-built Solution Extension applications.
- Maestro Agents commercial terms. Kinaxis reported new paying customers in the first quarter of 2026 and about 10% of the installed base on a paid or trial subscription at 2026-06-30, but publishes no unit or price.[8][4]
